Emission characteristics of volatile organic compounds released from spray products (생활 스프레이 제품의 안전성 조사: 벤젠과 톨루엔 함량을 중심으로)

  • Many kinds of liquid spray products are used in livelihood activities these days. Spray products can be distinguished by the target to be sprayed (like into the air or on human skin (body)). Because human can be exposed to volatile organic compounds (VOC) emitted from spray products, some considerations on safety or hazard of spray products should be needed. In this study, emission characteristics of VOCs were investigated against 10 types of liquid spray products (6 skin spray and 4 air spray products). The concentrations of benzene and toluene were determined by gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS) equipped with a thermal desorber (TD). Their average concentrations from 6 skin spray products exhibited$ 5.64{\pm}1.95$ ($mean{\pm}S.D$) and $8.52{\pm}2.89$ ppb(w), respectively. In contrast, those of 4 air spray samples had $7.30{\pm}1.31$ and $7.19{\pm}1.78$ ppb(w), respectively. If liquid contents in spray samples are completely vaporized in one cubic meter (1 m3) after spraying for 10 seconds, their mean concentrations of skin spray products are $31.7{\pm}8.80$ (benzene) and $50.5{\pm}17.1{\mu}g/Sm^3$ (toluene). In contrast, those of air spray products are $24.0{\pm}4.30$ (benzene) and $23.6{\pm}5.83{\mu}g/Sm^3$ (toluene). The estimated concentration levels of benzene from two types of products (31.7 and $24.0{\mu}/Sm^3$) exceeded the Korean atmospheric environmental guideline ($5{\mu}g/Sm^3$). The results of this study thus suggest that some measures should be made to reduce or suppress the contents of VOC in spray products.

  • 상용 IGCC발전소의 특징적 공정흐름에 대한 분석기술의 확보를 위해 PDU급 IGCC발전계통에 대한 성능평가와 NOx 배출에 대한 모델링을 수행하였다. 향후 IGCC발전소 건설시 선정가능성이 있는 4가지 가스화 공정에서 생산되는 석탄가스를 연료로 하고, 그 발전계통의 대상 가스터빈은 산업현장에서 사용되고 있는 GE사의 LM1600PA를 선정하였다. 석탄가스는 천연가스에 비해 가스터빈의 효율과 출력 상승을 가져오나, 이와 동시에 압축기 탈설계점 작동문제를 야기 시킬 수 있다. 또한 NOx 발생량은 석탄가스 연소시 급격히 증가하며, NOx 제어를 위해 질소분사가 이루어져야 함을 알 수 있었다.

  • 미세드릴가공은 드릴 직경의 소경화로 발생하는 공구강성저하, 지동 발생, 칩배출 곤란 등으로 인해 수많은 기계가공 중에서도 가장 어려운 가공 중의 하나이며 이로인해 설계의 단계에서 가능한 피하고있는 실정이다. 그러나 근래 각종 제품의 소형 경량화 추세가 일어나면서 미세구멍가공 기술에 대한 중요성이 높아지고 있으며, 특히 시계부품, 소형 정밀 부품, 연료분사용 노즐, 광파이버 관련품, 우주항공기 부품 등에 수요가 급증하고 있다. 또한 최근 전기.전자 공업의 발달과 함께 등장한 표면실장기술(SMT)은 프린터 배선기판의 고밀도화를 더욱 진전시켰으며 이는 구멍밀도, 구멍지름의 미소화 등 미세구멍가공 관점에서 보완해야 할 기술적인 과제를 남겨 놓았다. 본 연구는 미세드릴가공의 메카니즘을 규명하고 그 문제점을 해결하여 미소경 드릴링 머신을 개발하는 데 주력함과 동시에그 절삭현상의 기초적인 연구를 수행하였다

An Experimental Study on the Simultaneous Reduction of Smoke and NOx by Oxygenated Fuel Additives in DI Diesel Engine (직접분사식 디젤기관에서 함산소연료 첨가에 의한 매연과 NOx 동시 저감에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • Extensive experiments were conducted to investigate the emission of DI diesel engine by using DMC(dimethyl carbonate) as an oxygenated fuel additives. The results indicate that smoke reduces almost linearly with fuel oxygen contents. Reductions of HC and CO were attained noticeably, while a small increase in NOx was encountered concurrently. The effective reduction in smoke with DMC was maintained with the presence of CO2, which suggested a low NOx and smoke operation could be obtained in combination of using oxygenated fuel and EGR. Further experiment was conducted a thermal cracking set-up for mechanism studies.

칼로리미터의 재생 냉각유로 설계

  • 액체로켓 엔진의 분사기와 연소실 설계에 사용될 재생냉각형 칼로리미터의 냉각유로를 설계하였다. 사용할 펌프의 수두는 5기압이며 이로써 끓는점 아래에서 작동할 수 있고 동시에 넓은 냉각 면적을 가지는 유로의 형상을 결정하였다. 유로에서의 압력강하와 온도분포는 전산유동해석에 의하여 구하였고 열부하는 기존의 연소 해석과 1차원해석에 의한 결과를 적용하였다. 해석결과로서 유로의 폭이 4mm에서 2.5mm까지 2단계로 줄었다가 다시 2단계로 늘어나는 냉각유로를 설계하였으며 이 때 높이는 2mm로 일정하게 유지하였다. 유량 변화에 의한 레이놀즈 수는 1.9$\times$$10^4$, 2.4$\times$$10^4$, 2.9$\times$$10^4$이며 세 경우 모두 주어진 펌프수두 이내의 압력강하를 보였으나 온도상승과 성능상의 여유를 고려하여 레이놀즈 수 2.4$\times$$10^4$인 경우를 최종 설계안으로 결정하였다.

  • 해당 논문은 라즈베리파이를 이용한 온실의 온습도 자동제어 시스템에 관한 연구를 다룬다. 이 시스템은 특정 작물에 대한 최적의 생육환경 제공을 위해 자동으로 온도 및 습도를 측정하고 조절한다. 관리자는 수동으로도 각 기능을 제어할 수 있다. 온습도를 제어하기 위한 방법으로 자연환기, 인공환기, 온실내부 물분사, 열선작동의 방법을 사용한다. 자동화된 온습도 제어 시스템으로 농산물의 생산량 및 품질을 늘림과 동시에 온실 관리에 투자되는 자원을 줄일 수 있어 농업인들의 농업경쟁력을 향상시킬 수 있다.

Study of Engine Oil Jet System Effect on Engine Friction (Engine Oil Jet System이 Engine Friction에 미치는 영향에 대한 연구)

  • When turbochargers are applied to engines, the temperature of the engine becomes high, making the cooling of pistons very important. To solve this problem, an oil jet is used. The oil jet provides oil to the underside of piston for cooling. When an oil jet is used, oil pump size-up and oil cooler are needed because of the increased oil flow rate and higher oil temperature. On the other hand, these increase the friction torque of the engine. This study examined how much the friction torque of an engine increases by an oil jet, oil cooler, and oil pump size-up. In addition, the proportions of the friction torque of the engine increased by each part were measured by changing the engine assembly condition. At low speed, the oil pump and oil cooler had a larger effect on the friction torque than the other factors. At high speed, oil cooler had a larger effect than the other factors.

  • Process design and performance evaluation were made for medium-size gasification combined/cogeneration plant. Based on the designed plant process configuration, the effects of $NO_x$ reduction techniques on the $NO_x$ emission, the power output, the efficiency and the stability of plant are investigated by applying various $NO_x$ reduction methods such as unsaturated/saturated nitrogen injection and fuel saturation of gas turbine combustor. The $NO_x$ reduction by nitrogen injection is more remarkable than that by fuel saturation, and its effect can be more enhanced by using saturated nitrogen. In addition, the applications of $NO_x$ reduction techniques accompany the improvement of plant power output and efficiency with the decrease of $NO_x$ emission, while it can cause unstable gas turbine operation.

Lamination of Dielectric Layers by High Pressure Spray Coating for LTCC (고압 스프레이 코팅법에 의한 저온동시소성세라믹(LTCC) 유전체 층의 적층방법)

  • Aerosol slurry composed of dielectric materials, distilled water, and deflocculants was sprayed on the substrates, through a high-pressure spray gun as an aerosol. The coated layers were cofired together with $Al_{2}O_{3}$ substrates and green sheets on which the inner connectors were printed. Although the coating rate of coated layers strongly depended on slurry viscosity, spray shape, and the pressure of the spray gun, the coated density was not changed. Buried conductors were maintained as printed by high pressure spray coating method, because the pressing process was not used. At the optimum condition of air controller step 3-4 and slurry viscosity c.p 2000-4000, dense and uniform layers could be achieved. Comparing with conventional lamination process using green sheets, spray coating method enabled thin dielectric layers of $20{\sim}50{\mu}m$.

Effects of Soybean Biodiesel Fuel on Exhaust Emissions in Compression Ignition Combustion (대두유 바이오 디젤연료가 압축 착화 연소에서 배기가스에 미치는 영향)

  • This study aims to investigate the effects of soybean biodiesel fuel on exhaust emissions with regards to two combustion modes: conventional combustion(existence of PM-NOx trade-off behavior) and low temperature combustion(LTC) in a 1.7 L common rail direct injection diesel engine. As compared to conventional combustion, LTC was achieved by adopting a heavier exhaust gas recirculation and strategic injection parameter optimization. Two sets of fuels, i.e. ultra low sulfur diesel(ULSD) and 20% volumetric blends of soybean biodiesel with ULSD(B20) were used. Regardless of the fuel type, in LTC the simultaneous reduction of PM and NOx was observed and both levels were significantly lower than in case of conventional combustion. Under the given engine operating condition in the case of conventional combustion, B20 produced less PM and more NOx than ULSD. In the case of LTC combustion, B20 produced more PM and NOx than ULSD.
