A Study on the Effects of Job Satisfaction and Job Performance of Disabled Workers in Social Enterprises (국내 사회적 기업 장애인 근로자의 직무만족과 직무성과의 영향요인 분석)

  • This study inspected 203 employees with disabilities who are working in social enterprises based in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do from March to June 2019 in order to find out the factors of self-efficacy, social support, wages and welfare, relationship with upper management and co-worker relationships which influence job Performance and job satisfaction of disabled workers. The implications of this research are as follows. First, the factors that positively affect work performance are self-efficacy and co-worker relationships. It was shown that trust and respect that disabled workers working in domestic social corporations perceive while diligently performing the work without any bias and getting from coworkers led to good work performance. Second, when the current wage was determined by the employee's perceived ability, skill and current workloads that fit to their ability, the workers expressed job satisfaction. Moreover, job satisfaction by the employees was followed by the perception of the possibility of living a more stable life with the current monthly income. Third, upper managements' care on personal issues, acknowledgment of autonomy and support through communication have led to job satisfaction among the employees. Lastly, considering the research result in which the social support that the disabled workers perceive does not show any positive effect on work performance or work satisfaction, it can be concluded that there is a need for a change in the social perception of disabled workers.

Effect of Social Support for Social Welfare Workers on Job Satisfaction -Focusing on local child care center- (사회복지사의 사회적 지지가 직무만족에 미치는 영향 -지역아동센터를 중심으로-)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect that the social support for social welfare workers who are the key personnel providing the service to children directly at local child care center would have on job satisfaction. For this study, the social welfare workers of local child care center in Jeollanam-do were surveyed. A total of 240 questionnaires which had been collected were used for analysis. This study analyzed the effect of social support on job satisfaction by defining the demographic characteristics of social welfare workers as the control variables. The results of the analysis showed that the social support had the greatest influence on job satisfaction. Such results suggest that the stronger social support for social welfare workers would increase the job satisfaction of social welfare workers. Based on the results of the analysis, the following recommendations are presented which can help increase social support for social welfare workers: First, it is necessary to standardize the works of social welfare workers at local child care center and provide them with specialized training and education. Second, additional points should be granted to excellent local child care centers. Third, a cooperation system needs to be established which links the networks of colleagues and local societies.

Victims of Bullying in the Military and its Relationship with Frustration: Mediation Effects of Social Support (군 병사의 따돌림 피해와 욕구좌절의 관계: 사회적지지의 중재효과)

  • This study examined 316 soldiers in the South Korean Army and the mediation effects of social support on bullying and frustration. Bullying, social support, and frustration showed average scores of 2.23, 3.60, and 2.75 points, respectively. There was a positive correlation between bullying, social support, and frustration. All of the subordinate variables of bullying showed significant impacts on frustration (p<.05), with psychological harassment showing the greatest impact (${\beta}=.340$), followed by bullying in interpersonal relationships (${\beta}=.149$) and bullying at work (${\beta}=.130$). In all the interaction items of the subordinate variable bullying ${\times}$ social support, bullying had a significant impact on frustration at p<.01, while the highest impact was shown in the interaction item of bullying ${\times}$ member support (${\beta}=.456$). The results imply that intangible combat power and solidarity among soldiers can be guaranteed only when superiors and peers provide full support for soldiers who are victims of bullying.

Effects of exposure to endocrine disruptors, burnout, and social support from peers on premenstrual syndrome in nurses (간호사의 내분비계 교란 물질 노출, 감정 노동, 동료 지지가 월경 전 증후군에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the effects of exposure to endocrine disruptors, burnout, and social support from peers on premenstrual syndrome (PMS) in nurses. Methods: This descriptive correlational study was conducted among 122 nurses under the age of 49 working at a university hospital. The participants answered self-report questionnaires. The data were analyzed using the t-test, analysis of variance, Pearson or Spearman correlation coefficients, and hierarchical multiple regression in IBM SPSS version 23.0. Results: The mean age of the nurses was 28.9 years. Of these nurses, 49.2% were working in a general ward, 24.6% in the intensive care unit, 14.8% in the emergency room, and 11.4% in an outpatient department. The explanatory power of the model was 38.3%, and it was statistically significant (F=11.74, p≤.001). Exposure to endocrine disruptors (β=0.32, p<.001) was the most powerful variable affecting PMS, followed by burnout (β=0.27, p=.001), working in the intensive care unit or emergency room (β=0.22, p=.003), family history of PMS (β=0.19, p=.009), and support from coworkers (β=-0.15, p=.043). Conclusion: Based on these findings, it is necessary to develop an intervention program to reduce the symptoms of PMS. Additionally, further studies are needed to develop and evaluate measures to minimize exposure to endocrine disruptors and burnout in order to alleviate PMS among nurses.

Moderating Effect of Support on the Relationship between Customer Violence Experience and Mental Health of Customer Service Workers (고객응대 근로자의 고객 폭력 경험과 정신건강과의 관계에서 동료지지의 조절효과)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the impact of encounters with customer violence on the mental health of customer service workers, and to verify the moderating effect of coworker support. Methods: Workers who indicated that they engaged directly with individuals other than coworkers for more than 25% of their working hours, such as customers, passengers, students, and patients, were the focus of the 6th Korean Working Conditions Survey in 2020. A total of 13,682 people were chosen as the final research subjects, responses from dishonest respondents who had picked "don't know/no answer" or indicated "reject" to pertinent topics such mental health level, were discarded. After adjusting for socio-demographic and vocational characteristics that influence mental health in customer service workers, a hierarchical regression analysis was executed, which incorporated input on customer violence experiences, coworker support, and interaction terms on a step-by-step basis. Results: It transpired that interactions with customer violence had a negative impact on workers' mental health. Additionally, it was shown that workers' mental health status as coworker support increased. Conclusion: This study's limitations include differences in the period the questions were posed, and limitations in interpretation to all workers. And it is difficult to determine the relationship between the frequency of customer violence, occupational characteristics and mental health. Despite its limitations, this study makes an important contribution toward fostering an environment where coworkers can continue to help one another.

Effect of Burnout, Verbal Abuse Experience, and Social Support on Job Embeddedness in the Small and Medium Sized Hospital Nurses (지방 중소병원 간호사의 소진, 언어폭력 경험, 사회적 지지가 직무배태성에 미치는 융복합적 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of burnout, verbal abuse experience, and social support on job embeddedness in the Small and Medium Sized Hospital Nurses. The data were collected from 497 nurses by means of self-reported questionnaires on August 23th to October 30th, 2017. The data were analyzed by t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficients and hierarchical multiple regression analysis. The results showed that burnout, verbal abuse experience, social support, and position were identified as the factors affecting the nurse's job embeddedness (Adjusted $R^2=.45$). Therefore, to enhance nurses' job embeddedness, it is necessary to reduce nurse's burnout and increase social supports from supervisor and colleague. Additionally, the nurse leaders should prepare a verbal abuse prevention program for nurses.

The Effect of Call Center Consultant 's Emotional Labor on Burnout: The Moderating Effect of Resilience and Social Support (콜센터 상담원의 감정노동이 소진에 미치는 영향: 회복 탄력성과 사회적 지지의 조절효과)

  • Background: The purpose of this study was to examine the moderating effect of resilience and social support to analyze that call center consultants' emotional labor impacts on the burnout. Methods: A survey questionnaire was conducted to people who work at call center in Gwangju and Deagu. The data from 444 were analyzed. Results: The result from the hierarchical multiple regression is as follows. First, deep acting decreased burnout, but surface acting of emotional labor increased burnout. Also, frequency of emotion display, variety of emotion required to be expressed and attentiveness to required display rules increased burnout. Second, Resilience had moderating effect between deep acting and burnout. Third, the moderate effect of interaction of social support from leader with surface action was found at burnout. Also, moderating effect of social support from leader were shown in frequency of emotion display with burnout and attentiveness to required display rules with burnout. Fourth, social support from colleague did not have buffering effect on emotional labor and burnout. Conclusions: It is expected that the moderator variables identified in this study can be used for prevention and treatment of burnout caused by emotional labor.

An Empirical Study on the Relationship between Job Dissatisfaction and Creativity (직무 불만족과 창의성의 관계에 관한 연구)

  • This study has two primary purposes, firstly to identify how job dissatisfaction and continuance commitment influence to creativity, secondly to explore how coworker helping and support, and perceived organizational support moderate between interaction of job dissatisfaction and continuance commitment, and creativity. The first part of the study, based on literature study on creativity, provides insight into what are antecedents and moderate variables in creativity. In the second part of the study, a comprehensive research model and hypothesis were empirically tested based on data from 322 employees in Korean organizations. The results of statistical analysis show the following. First, job dissatisfaction has positive effect on creativity. Second, interaction of job dissatisfaction and continuance commitment does not have positive effect on creativity. Third, there was not any moderating effects between interaction of job dissatisfaction and continuance commitment, and creativity in this study. The last part of this study, a theoretical and practical implication of the study, and the future research agenda are presented.

The Relationship among Learning Motivation, Transfer Climate, Learning Self-efficacy, and Transfer Motivation in Nursing Students Received Simulation-based Education (시뮬레이션 교육을 받은 간호학생의 학습동기, 전이풍토, 학습자기효능감 및 전이동기의 관계)

  • This descriptive research study was undertaken to identify the degree of learning motivation, transfer climate, learning self-efficacy, and transfer motivation, and to correlate the variables, in nursing students receiving simulation-based education. The subjects of this study were 4th grade nursing students who completed a simulation course at a nursing university; data collected using the self-report questionnaire were analyzed using the SPSS 21.0 program. Our results indicate high values of learning motivation, transfer climate (including the lower variables supervisor's support, peer's support, and transfer opportunity), learning self-efficacy, and transfer motivation. Learning motivation, learning self-efficacy, and transfer motivation significantly differed with respect to social motivation for entering school (Z=6.04, p=0.049; Z=6.92, p=0.031; Z=9.16, p=0.010, respectively) and major satisfaction (Z=8.55, p=0.036; Z=12.55, p=0.006; Z=13.47, p=0.004, respectively). All these variables were positively correlated, especially transfer motivation with learning motivation, supervisor's support, peer's support, transfer opportunity, and learning self-efficacy. Taken together, the results of this study indicate a need to develop an effective simulation-based education program to encourage transfer motivation, as well as follow-up studies that verify the causal relationship between transfer motivation and related variables.

Association Between Job Stress and Fatigue Symptoms Among Fire-Fighting Officials (소방공무원의 직무스트레스와 피로수준과의 관련성)

  • This study examined the relationship between job stress and fatigue symptom of fire-fighting officials. The study subjects were 330 fire-fighting officials working at five fire stations in the D metropolitan city. The study survey was a structured self-administered questionnaire from September 1 to October 31, 2019. The level of fatigue symptoms and job stress were significantly higher (p<.0.001). By the sub-region, the level of fatigue symptoms and job demand were significantly higher (p=0.046), but the decision latitude, the supervisor support, and co-worker support were lower (p=0.006, p<0.001, and p<0.001, respectively). The level of fatigue symptom showed a significant positive correlation with the total score of job stress (r=0.348, p<0.05) and the job demand (r=0.301, p<0.05). In contrast, it showed a significant negative correlation with the decision latitude (r=-0.306, p<0.05), supervisor support (r=-0.340, p<0.05), and co-worker support (r=-0.355, p<0.05). Multivariate logistic regression showed that the odds ratio of the high-risk fatigue group was significantly higher in the high-risk group of job stress than in the low group of job stress (ORs=3.03, 95% CI=1.13~8.12). These findings suggest that the level of fatigue symptoms of fire-fighting officials is related significantly to job stress.
