  • This Paper deals with the experimental study of the axisymmetric air jet impinging vertically on the flat heating surface with and without swirl. The purpose of this study is to investigate the characteristics of flow, augmentation of heat transfer rate, turbulent intensity, and the comparison of heat transfer rate, the optimal swirling condition about the swirl and nonswirl axisymmetric air jet. In order to augment the heat transfer on the flat heating surface without introducing any additional power, the technique used in the present work was placement of twisted tape inserted pipe in front of the nozzle exit in order to make a swirl. The effect of swirl degree is investigated in case of S=0., 0.056, 0.111, 0.222 and the velocity of the jet was 14, 20, 26, 32, 38, 44m/s. The distance between the nozle exit and the stagnation point on the impinging plate was the H/D=$1{\sim}14$. In order to analyze of the flow structure which increase heat transfer, the velocity and the turbulent intensity of the axisymmetric jet was measured by a hot wire anemometer according to the swirl number and H/D.

Study on Equillibrium, Kinetic, Thermodynamic Parameters for Adsorption of Brilliant Green by Zeolite (제올라이트에 의한 Brilliant Green의 흡착에 대한 평형, 동역학 및 열역학 파라미터에 관한 연구)

  • Adsorption equilibrium, kinetic and thermodynamic parameters of a brilliant green from aqueous solutions at various initial dye concentration (10~30 mg/L), contact time (1~24 h) and temperature (298~318 K) on zeolite were studied in a batch mode operation. The equilibrium adsorption values were analyzed by Langmuir, Freundlich and Dubinin-Radushkevich model. The results indicate that Langmuir and Freundlich model provides the best correlation of the experimental data. Base on the estimated values of Langmuir dimensionless separation factor ($R_L=0.041{\sim}0.057$) and Freundlich constant (1/n=0.30~0.47), this process could be employed as effective treatment method. calculated values of adsorption energy by Dubinin-Radushkevich model were 1.564~1.857 kJ/mol corresponding to physical adsorption. The adsorption kinetics of brilliant green were best described by the pseudo second-order rate model and followed by intraparticle diffusion model. Thermodynamic parameters such as activation energy, free energy, enthalpy and entropy were calculated to estimate nature of adsorption. negative Gibbs free energy (-10.3~-11.4 kJ/mol), positive enthalpy change (49.48 kJ/mol) and Arrehenius activation energy (27.05 kJ/mol) indicates that the adsorption is spontaneous, endothermic and physical adsorption process, respectively.

  • 본 연구에서는 간단한 조작을 통하여 작물의 특성에 따라 진동방향을 조절 가능하게 함으로써 물리적 성질이 서로 다른 감자, 고구마, 마늘, 양파, 생강 등 거의 모든 뿌리작물의 수확에 이용할 수 있는 다목적 굴취기를 기구학적으로 설계하고, 뿌리작물 굴취기의 성능에 영향을 미치는 진폭, 진동수, 작업속도를 변화시킬 때 각각의 조합에 있어서 굴취판상의 특정한 점들의 운동궤적을 분석하고 이에 기초하여 굴취기의 설계변수와 작업에서의 설정변수 를 결정하고자 하였으며, 그 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 1) 작업위치에 따라 굴취판 뒷부분(선별부)의 진동방향 조절이 가능하기 때문에 진동방향을 조절하면 물리적 성질이 서로 다른 감자, 고구마 마늘, 양파 등 거의 모든 뿌리작물의 수확에 이용할 수 있을 것으로 사료된다. 2) 굴취판의 궤적분석결과 진폭이 3mm일 때에는 캠 축의 회전속도와 작업속도에 관계없이 굴취작업이 불가능할 것으로 판단되었다. 진폭이 6mm일 때에는 작업속도 1.08km/hr에서 캠 축의 회전속도가 841rpm 이상이면 굴취작업이 가능할 것으로 판단되었고, 작업속도 2.16km/hr이상에는 굴취작업이 불가능할 것으로 판단되었다. 진폭이 9mm일 때에는 작업속도 1.08km/hr에서 작업할 때 사용한 캠축의 회전속도에 관계없이 굴취작업이 모두 잘 이루질 것으로 판단되었고, 작업속도 2.16km/hr에서는 캠축의 회전속도가 995rpm 일 경우에만 굴취작업이 가능할 것으로 판단되었으며, 작업속도 3.24km/hr에서는 작업위치나 캠축의 회전속도에 관계없이 모두 굴취작업이 불가능한 것으로 사료된다. 3) 작업속도를 1.08km/hr 이상으로 하려면 소요동력의 관점에서 볼 때 진폭은 크게하고 진동수는 작게 하는 것이 유리하기 때문에 진폭을 9mm이상 취하는 것이 바람직할 것으로 사료된다.회로 가장 많이 발생하였으며, 다음으로 밀양과 나주지역이 29회, 김제지역이 28회 등으로 많은 발생빈도를 보였다.생시 진화방법의 개발 등에 대한 기본data로서의 역할을 충분히 할 수 있을 것으로 사료된다. 평가되었다.us에 대하여 높은 것으로 나타났다.bangular에서 subrounded에 해당한다. 이러한 현저한 차이를 보이는 이유는 남극적 빙하성 환경 조건과 이 지역의 해양 퇴적학적 특성에 그 원인이 있다고 해석된다.ea. Analyzing Typology and Factor Combinations for Regional Innovation in Korea Using fs/QCA (퍼지셋 질적비교분석을 이용한 우리나라 지역혁신의 유형 및 요인 분석)

  • These days, regional innovation draws more attention than ever as a growth engine for regional economies, and governments put a variety of efforts to establish Regional Innovation systems(RISs). In this circumstance, this study aims to analyze types of RISs and the combinations of the factors influencing innovation performance as measured by patent application. Most of previous works have depended on case-oriented or variable-oriented strategy to classify types of RISs or to analyze the effects on performance of innovation factors, having some limitations: Variable-oriented approaches fail to capture complex combinatory effects of factors, while case-oriented approaches tend to depend on subjective interpretation. This study made use of the recently proposed fs/QCA(Fuzzy-set Qualitative Comparative Analysis) to overcome the limitations of those strategies. Based on the theory of RIS, three factors for regional innovation-input, infrastructure, and network-are used to classify 16 Korean Provinces. The results show that eight types of regional innovation types are identified, and that most of the regions are classified into either IN-type, equipped with high levels of Input and Network, or F-type, with high levels of infrastructure. In addition, applying seven sub-variables of the three factors to the fussy-set combination factor analysis, we examine a combination of factors influencing patent application. The results show that regions with high levels of R&D expense, valid patent, industry-academia cooperation, IP budget, and TLO values, and low IP capital almost always have a high level of patent application. Therefore, for regional innovation, the public sector needs to provide institutional support for R & D personnel training. It is also important to for both the public and the private sectors to make efforts to stimulate IP financing.

Characteristics and Parameters for Adsorption of Carbol Fuchsin Dye by Coal-based Activated Carbon: Kinetic and Thermodynamic (석탄계 활성탄에 의한 Carbol Fuchsin의 흡착 특성과 파라미터: 동력학 및 열역학)

  • Adsorption characteristics of carbol fuchsin (CF) dye by coal-based activated carbon (CAC) were investigated using pH, initial concentration, temperature and contact time as adsorption variables. CF dissociates in water to have a cation, NH2+, which is bonded to the negatively charged surface of the activated carbon in the basic region by electrostatic attraction. Under the optimum condition of pH 11, 96.6% of the initial concentration was adsorbed. Isothermal adsorption behavior was analyzed using Langmuir, Freundlich, Temkin and Dubinin-Radushkevich models. Langmuir's equation was the best fit for the experimental results. Therefore, the adsorption mechanism was expected to be adsorbed as a monolayer on the surface of activated carbon with a uniform energy distribution. From the evaluated Langmuir's dimensionless separation coefficients (RL = 0.503~0.672), it was found that CF can be effectively treated by activated carbon. The adsorption energies determined by Temkin and Dubinin-Radushkevich models were E = 15.31~7.12 J/mol and B = 0.223~0.365 kJ/mol, respectively. Therefore, the adsorption process was physical (E < 20 J/mol, B < 8 kJ/mol). The experimental result of adsorption kinetics fit better the pseudo second order model. In the adsorption reaction of CF dye to CAC, the negative free energy change increased as the temperature increased. It was found that the spontaneity also increased with increasing temperature. The positive enthalpy change (40.09 kJ/mol) indicated an endothermic reaction.

  • The aging and declining agricultural population in the modern society requires improvement of the agricultural environment and is one of the representative problems. And since most of the work systems always require a transport work, the ratio of labor consumed in the transport work is very high. Accordingly, many types of transport vehicles are being developed and sold, and in the early days, most of them are powered transport vehicles using fossil fuels. However, it is paying attention to next-generation eco-friendly energy such as hydrogen, fuel cells, solar power, and bio due to the strengthening of international environmental regulations such as global warming and the Convention on Climate Change and the depletion of fossil fuels. Therefore, in this study, the ultimate goal is to develop an eco-friendly, easy-to-operate, safe agricultural electric vehicle that replaces fossil fuels. It was designed with a focus on controlling a wide range of vehicle speeds and securing stability of electric agricultural vehicles. Considering the performance and design, it is composed of a frame, a driving part, a steering part, and a controller system, and we are going to review and manufacture each part. It is believed that the manufactured electric vehicle for agriculture can be easily and conveniently operated in an agricultural society where young manpower is scarce, and can be helpful to the agricultural society through high efficiency.

Study on selection and basic specifications design of shield TBM for power cable tunnels (터널식 전력구 쉴드TBM 선정 및 기본설계 사양 제시에 관한 연구)

  • Power cable tunnels is one of the underground structures meant for electricity transmission and are constructed using shield TBM method when transitting across urban and subsea regions. With the increasing shaft depth for tunnels excavation when the shield TBM excavated the rock mass, the review of selecting closed-type shield TBM in rocks becomes necessary. A simplified shield TBM design method is also necessary based on conventional geotechnical survey results. In this respect, design method and related design program are developed based on combined results of full-scale tests, considerable amount of accumulated TBM data, and numerical simulation results. In order to validate the program results, excavation data of a completed power cable tunnel project are utilized. Thrust force, torque, and power of shield TBM specification are validated using Kernel density concept which estimates the population data. The robustness of design expertise is established through this research which will help in stable provision of electricity supply.

Drone-mounted fruit recognition algorithm and harvesting mechanism for automatic fruit harvesting (자동 과일 수확을 위한 드론 탑재형 과일 인식 알고리즘 및 수확 메커니즘)

  • The role of drones has been expanded to various fields such as agriculture, construction, and logistics. In particular, agriculture drones are emerging as an effective alternative to solve the problem of labor shortage and reduce the input cost. In this study therefore, we proposed the fruit recognition algorithm and harvesting mechanism for fruit harvesting drone system that can safely harvest fruits at high positions. In the fruit recognition algorithm, we employ "You-Only-Look-Once" which is a deep learning-based object detection algorithm and verify its feasibility by establishing a virtual simulation environment. In addition, we propose the fruit harvesting mechanism which can be operated by a single driving motor. The rotational motion of the motor is converted into a linear motion by the scotch yoke, and the opened gripper moves forward, grips a fruit and rotates it for harvesting. The feasibility of the proposed mechanism is verified by performing Multi-body dynamics analysis.

Study on Pretreatment Methods to Prevent Tissue Softening of Heated Onion (가열 양파의 조직 연화 방지를 위한 전처리 방법에 관한 연구)

  • Various pretreatment methods were evaluated to prevent tissue softening of heated onion. Changes in onion tissue firmness during heating were explained by 3-mechanism model consisting of texture hardening at low temperature ($60-80^{\circ}C$) and substrate softening at high temperature. Preheating of onion in a $Ca^{2+}$-containing solution significantly improved its texture after high-temperature heating. The improvement of firmness by preheating at low temperature was related to the formation of strong cross-linking between carboxyl groups and $Ca^{2+}$ by the action of pectin methylesterase in onion. The highest firmness was obtained by pre-heating at $70^{\circ}C$ for 120 min in 0.5% calcium solution. This result was supported by chemical analysis showing that the amount of bound calcium was the highest at $70^{\circ}C$. Further investigation should be carried out to establish the optimal conditions to prevent the softening of various vegetables.

History and Archives : Colleagues or Strangers? (역사학과 기록학 학문의 인연, 학제의 괴리)

  • By redefining the concept of history, my colleagues and I have reformed our department in terms of curriculum and faculty members. This paper is a report of some of the conclusions that we have obtained from this procedure. Despite a long relationship, two disciplines do not seem to match or complement each other in the Korean education system. We believe that this is due to the fact that the Department of Korean History has focused on "national history (NH)." By conferring a privilege on NH, persons, families, societies, regions, and others were removed from NH. To make matters worse, a biased view that history is just an interpretation has prevailed, and the empiricism of history was weakened, which brought about an indifference in keeping records and archives. In East Asia, "history" means both modern history and archives. The concern about the authenticity of records did not come from H. Jenkinson or L. Duranti, and not even from the electronic environment or the Public Records Act of 1998. Key concepts such as records, documents-archives, manuscripts, authenticity, compilation-appraisal, arrangement, and description are different from their signifiant but are same or similar to their $signifi{\acute{e}}$. In case of "provenance" and "original order," they are used in education and practice in the traditional archives. History includes the recording, archiving, and the story or historiography of an event. In this context, the Department of Korean History should contain a more archives-oriented curriculum and select an archival-trained faculty. On the other hand, the department has accumulated long-term experience with appraisal and description of records; thus, archival science should absorb the criticism of the material. History will be shaken without the help of archives, while archives will lose their root without history. We are at the point in which we need to be reminded why we want to be a historian or an archivist, and for this, the more colleagues, the better.
