  • H-브릿지 멀티레벨 인버터는 여러 개의 단상 Power Cell을 직렬로 연결함으로써 저전압 전력용 반도체를 사용하여 고전압을 얻을 수 있고, 정현파에 가까운 출력전압 파형을 얻을 수 있는 멀티레벨 인버터 토폴로지이다. 본 토폴로지는 출력전압 레벨에 비례하여 Power Cell의 수가 증가하므로, 주제어기의 연산능력에 대한 부담증가와 신호선의 많아지는 단점이 있다. 따라서 Power Cell제어를 직접적인 PWM 신호가 아닌 통신을 사용함으로써 이러한 단점을 극복할수 있으며, 신뢰성 측면이나 보수/유지 측면에서도 유리하다. 본 논문은 산업현장에서 신뢰성을 인정받아 많이 사용되고 있는 직렬통신 방식의 일종인 CAN통신 인터럽터를 이용한 H-브릿지 멀티레벨 인버터 Power Cell의 PWM 동기화 및 위상 전이 방법에 관한 것이다. 제안된 방법의 주요 장점은 주제어기와 셀 제어기 사이에 직렬통신(CAN)을 사용함으로써 주제어기와 셀 제어기의 신호선의 단순화, 주제어기의 부담 감소, Power Cell의 모듈화, 셀 단위의 보호동작 용이, 확장성 향상 그리고 제어 신호 및 Power Cell의 신뢰성을 향상에 있다. 13레벨로 구성된 H-브릿지 멀티레벨 인버터 시험을 통해 제안된 방법의 타당성과 신뢰성을 입증하였다.

  • COMS DATS C&M software is an integrated management system providing control and monitoring functionalities for COMS IDACS (Image Data Acquisition and Control System). DATS C&M S/W consists of a system management module, a control and monitoring module, a data management module, and a trend analysis module. COMS SOC is supposed to operate IDACS as a backup of MSC. Especially, for the backup operation, the control and monitoring module of DATS C&M S/W is designed to support the synchronization of the two IDACS systems. This paper describes design, implementation, and result of development of DATS C&M S/W.

Precise Measurement of Ultra Small Retardation of Rubbed Polyimide Alignment Layer Using an Improved Transmission Ellipsometer (개선된 투과형 타원계를 사용한 러빙된 Polyimide 배향막의 초미세 위상지연 정밀 측정)

  • The precision of retardation measurement has been improved upto $3{\sigma}$ <0.005 nm after improvements are made to the conventional transmission ellipsometer. Improvements are made such that, i) the polarizer module instead of the sample stage is rotated, ii) the light source is replaced, iii) the starting points of two rotating modules are accurately synchronized, and iv) the fine background retardation is compensated. Together with the newly introduced RVD (Retardation Vector Difference) method, the improved instrument is successfully applied to characterize the ultra small optical birefringence of the rubbed polyimide alignment layer, after the residual retardation due to glass substrate whose magnitude is about 1.0 nm is properly subtracted. It is verified that the net retardation of the alignment layer ranges from 0.05 nm to 0.15 nm.

Development of On-board Computer Module for Formation Flying and Cluster Operation Nano-satellites (초소형 위성의 편대 및 군집 운용을 위한 모듈형 온보드 컴퓨터 개발)

  • In this study, the minimized on-board computer (OBC) module for integrated navigation is developed, which provides satellites' relative position information in formation flying and cluster operation situations. The scalability is considered to apply the user-selected wireless communication module and Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver for navigation, while considering to meet the structural design standard of nano-satellites. As a result of the product development and production, the processing speed of integrated navigation and real-time data synchronization is satisfied for cluster operation nano-satellites by using micro controller unit (MCU). From a heat/vacuum, vibration and radiation test, the OBC was confirmed to be operated in space environments. From these results, a mass production system of OBC was made which is a key part of development on satellite formation flying and cluster/constellation missions that the community demands are increasing.

  • To provide high-quality media streaming service over the best-effort Internet, a streaming methodology is required to response to the dynamic fluctuation of underlying networks. In this paper, we implement the MPEG-4 streaming system with adaptive transport based on priorities of media packets. The implemented system is composed of the common MPEG-4 streaming components such as elementary stream provider, sync and DMIF layer, and adaptive transport module including data prioritization and FEC control. More specifically, the prioritized sync layer packets (based on object level) are delivered to the transport module and then are encoded by an adaptive FEC encoder to help reliable transport. The FEC combination is dynamically adjusted by the feedback information from the receiver. In addition, low priority packets are selectively dropped to meet the limitation of available bandwidth. The experimental results over the emulation-based testbed show that the Proposed system can mitigate the impact of network fluctuation and thus improve the quality of streaming.

  • Recently, developing medical devices have a tendency becoming the module for satisfying user's mutual complex needs. Because the most effective method for the observation of patients condition a diagnosis and a treatment is collecting data from various devices and controling operation following it. Module tendency is more popular due to manage easily totally many individual systems. This study implemented communication protocol to control by one control system connecting modular medical devices. Implemented system consist of one master module controlling all module and managing communication and many Slave modules. Communication between each modules introduced SPI(Serial Peripheral Interface) among many synchronous serial communication methods for the exact transmission and receipt of data. All communication executes by packet format. This can detect error. And, this protocol introduced PNP(Plug And Play) function that auto-detect connecting or removing module during running. This protocol exactly transmitted and received in faster speed more than 1Mbps. And in practical application to the ventilator this confirmed to give and take real-time data. And various functions by th central control system is implemented in this protocol.

  • Recently, embedded systems such as aircraft and automobilie, are developed as modular architecture instead of federated architecture because of SWaP(Size, Weight and Power) issues. In addition, partition operating system that support multiple logical node based on partition concept were recently appeared. Distributed recovery block is fault tolerance design scheme that applicable to mission critical real-time system to support real-time take over via real-time synchronization between participated nodes. Because of real-time synchronization, single-core based computer is not suitable for partition based distributed recovery block design scheme. Multi-core and AMP(Asymmetric Multi-Processing) based partition architecture is required to apply distributed recovery block design scheme. In this paper, we proposed design scheme of distributed recovery block on the multi-core based supervised-AMP architecture partition operating system. This paper implements flight control simulator for avionics to check feasibility of our design scheme.

Implementing Instructional Modules for Engineering Ethics into Engineering Curricula (공학윤리 교육모듈 컨텐츠를 이용한 전공교과목에서의 공학윤리 교육)

  • This study presents how the engineering ethics instructional modules have been developed based on Korean culture and how they are implemented into the existing engineering curricula at Sungkyunkwan University. The engineering ethics instructional modules were designed to be taught by engineering faculty members who did not have any teaching experience in ethics. As a result, it was determined that the engineering ethics instructional modules should include a detailed instructor lesson plan and all supporting resources such as slides (Power Point base), and handouts, or assessment units (pre- and post-test). Two 75 minute modules developed in this study consist of the diverse instructional activities for various student group sizes. In order to improve students' interests and classroom attention, various visual and audio resources such as famous movies, cartoons, and poems were included in the instructional resources. In addition, a number of case studies which might happen in the students' daily lives were chosen. The resulting ethical module No. 1 has been instructed in the existing engineering classes during the 1st semester in 2007. Overall, the students reported positive impressions of the modules and the faculty members also reported favorable perceptions of the modules. Also, team based activities encouraged students to participate in constructing the event trees, which are a basic analysis tool for ethics case studies. The results of this study will provide a guideline of implementing engineering ethics into the engineering curricula to other engineering programs and schools.

  • 마이크로그리드 내의 ESS는 독립운전 및 계통연계 두 가지 운전모드가 가능해야 하며 인버터는 용량의 확장성, 시스템의 보수 편리, 신뢰성 향상 등의 장점 때문에 주로 모듈화 한다. 이때 모듈간의 오차, 비동기 된 PWM의 문제로 순환전류가 발생하기 때문에 병렬운전 제어기법이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 3-레벨 NPC인버터 병렬연결 시 순환전류 제거에 적합하고 독립운전에서 계통연계로 모드전환이 가능하며 PWM동기화 기능을 갖는 마스터-슬레이브 방식의 병렬운전 시스템을 제안하였고 실험을 통해 타당성을 검증하였다.

초고속복합분자펌프 제어기 개발

  • 본 개발에서는 초고속복합분자펌프 구동을 위한 디지털 구동장치를 설계하였다. BLDC구동을 위한 디지털 제어 시스템의 핵심제어 보드 설계 및 모듈 설계를 하여 보드제작 및 기본성능평가를 하고 고속 회전 실험을 하였다. AMB제어기는 넓은 제어대역폭을 확보하기 위하여 FPGA 1개와 마이크로 콘트롤러 2개를 사용하여 구성하였으며 FPGA로 AMB구동을 위한 PWM기능과 CPU 2개의 원활한 Data 통신을 위하여 Dual Memory을 구현하였으며 PWM의 디지털노이즈 회피를 위하여 AMB구동용 PWM과 동기화하여 Gap Sensor 및 전류센서신호 샘플링할 수 있도록 ADC를 구동 및 샘플링한다. 그리고 Gap Sensor 구동 회로와 제어기회로를 하나의 보드로 구연하였다.
