무협지 출판의 어제와 오늘, 그리고 내일

  • 올해들어 대본소를 통해 유통됐던 창작무협지 몇종이 서점에 진출, 비교적 좋은 반응을 얻고 있다. 무협지계 최초로 개인전집인 "김광주 전집"도 출간될 예정이며, 이론서인 "무림백과"도 출간됐다. 일부 대형서점에서는 '무협지코너'도 마련해 놓아 독자의 눈길을 끌고있다. 이를 계기로 한국무협지시장 안팎의 어제와 오늘을 알아본다.

Brain Activation to Facial Expressions Among Alcoholics (알코올 중독자의 얼굴 표정 인식과 관련된 뇌 활성화 특성)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the neural substrates for recognizing facial expressions among alcoholics by using functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI). Abstinent inpatient alcoholics (n=18 males) and demographically similar social drinkers (n=16 males) participated in the study. The participants viewed pictures from the Japanese Female Facial Expression Database (JAFFE) and evaluated intensity of facial expressions. the alcoholics had a reduced activation in the limbic areas including amygdala and hippocampus while recognizing the emotional facial expressions compared to the nonalcoholic controls. On the other hand, the alcoholics showed greater brain activations than the controls in the left lingual (BA 19)/fusiform gyrus, the left middle frontal gyrus (BA 8/9/46), and the right superior parietal lobule (BA 7) during the viewing of emotional faces. In sum, specific brain regions were identified that are associated with recognition of facial expressions among alcoholics. The implication of the present study could be used in developing intervention for alcoholism.

  • 웹툰 시장의 성장에 따라, 웹툰을 주제로 다양한 연구가 진행되고 있다. 그러나 웹툰의 댓글을 분석한 연구는 특정 웹툰에 한정된 연구가 많아 일반적인 웹툰 독자의 댓글 특징을 보기에는 한계가 있다. 또한 웹툰의 흥행과 관련하여, 흥행에 성공한 웹툰과 그렇지 못한 웹툰의 독자 반응을 파악하는 연구는 부족한 실정이다. 따라서 본 연구는 웹툰의 흥행에 주목하여, 흥행의 지표를 웹툰 플랫폼 정식연재로 판단하고, 정식연재가 된 웹툰과 되지 못한 웹툰의 댓글을 비교 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 정식연재가 된 웹툰은 긍정적인 감상평 외에 2차적 저작물을 언급하고 등장인물의 이름 언급이 높았으나 정식연재가 되지 못한 웹툰은 부정적인 감상평 외에, 웹툰 요소에 대한 부정적 언급과 웹툰 장르와 다른 장르의 언급이 나타나 웹툰에 대한 독자의 불만족 요인을 파악할 수 있었다.

  • 최근 전자책 시장이 활성화 된 계기는 잘 알다시피 2007년 아마존에서 킨들(Kindle)이란 전자책 단말기를 출시하고 부터이다. 전자잉크(e-Ink) 디스플레이 화면 기술을 적용하여 매우 가볍고 읽기 편한 화면의 단말기를 출시하였다. 2008년에는 빈스앤노블에서 Nook라는 단말기를 출시했으며 올해 4월에는 애플에서 LCD 화면에 태블릿 형태의 아이패드(iPad)라는 단말기를 출시해 사용자들의 획기적인 반응을 얻고 있다. 단말기 하드웨어가 전자책 시장의 중요한 성공요인 중에 하나이지만 이에 못지않게 콘텐츠의 확보와 서비스 모델이 중요하다. 이들 회사는 도서유통에서 시작해 다량의 전자출판 콘텐츠를 확보하고 또한 독자들이 용이하게 콘텐츠에 접근하도록 서비스하고 있다. 전지출판물 콘텐츠 시장에서 사용자들이 원하는 콘텐츠를 제작업체나 공급업체에 독립적으로 서비스 받으려면 콘텐츠 포맷과 DRM 기술 등에 대한 표준화가 지원되어야 한다. 이러한 표준화를 통하여 저자가 작성한 전자책 콘텐츠를 어느 출판사든 사용할 수 있어야 하며, 어느 유통사를 통해서든 최종 독자들에게 근본적인 변환 없이 서비스될 수 있어야 한다. 이번 특집호에서는 최근 주목을 받고 없는 전자출판물 시장의 동향을 살펴보고 국내에서의 전자출판물 육성방안, 전자책 포맷의 표준화 동향, 디지털교과서 표준화 동향, 그리고 전자출판 서비스 및 솔루션 기술에 대해 살펴보기로 한다. 이를 통해 전자출판물에 대한 이해를 돕고 향후 전자출판물 시장이 성장하는데 도움이 되기를 기대한다.

A Study on the Korean Translation Strategy of 《Mu Yang Ai Hua, 牧羊哀話》 by Period (《목양애화(牧羊哀話)》의 시대별 한국어 번역 전략 연구)

  • 《Mu Yang Ai Hua, 牧羊哀話》 is known as the first Korean-sanctioned novel in the history of modern Chinese literature, and is famous for a novel created by the author himself visiting Korea and being inspired. The translation of 《牧羊哀話》 is constantly being re-translated (4 types). These translations also reflect the characteristics of each period, and the translation strategies used have their own characteristics. The results of the comparative analysis of the four types of translations in this study are as follows. The role A was published during the Japanese colonial period, and some parts were reduced and omitted according to the intent of the translator, and a foreignization translation strategy was used. B, C, and D have implemented content equivalence by utilizing many of the localization translation strategies, and added supplementary explanations in part to help readers understand. Since translation is a process of communication, it should not just convert the source text to the target text, but the target reader's response to the work should be the same as that of the reader. Therefore, translation must be able to understand the environment of the times and the readership, and it must use all possible methods to elicit the same emotion and empathy as the reader has read the original text. Therefore, translators need to use their nationalization and foreignization strategies at the same time based on their understanding of the target language and the politics, economy, history, culture, etc. of the destination country.

Designing a Writing Support System Based on Narrative Comprehension of Readers (독자의 내러티브 이해를 반영한 창작 지원 시스템 설계)

  • A variety of writing support systems focus on the information management or the feature analysis of the commercially successful narrative texts. In these approaches, the reader's role in the narrative creating process is overlooked. During a writing work, an author anticipates the reader's response or expectation to the narrative and he/she organizes the narrative either along or against the prediction about readers. Assessing and controlling the reader's comprehension in the development of events influences the aesthetic quality of the narrative. In this paper, we suggest a writing support system to visualize and adjust the characteristics of a narrative text related to the reader's comprehension, which is theoretically based on the narrative structure model and the event-indexing situation model. Under the development of the support system, we designed an interactive framework to create events as the basic units of story and arrange them onto both story- and discourse-time axes. Using this framework, we analyzed the organization of events about an actual film narrative. We also proposed both the continuity of the situational dimensions and the cognitive complexity as the characteristics to affect the reader's comprehension, hence we devised a method to visualize and evaluate them. This method was applied to the actual film narrative and the result was discussed in the aspect of the features of the narrative and wiring support strategies.

The study on the methane activation by a plasma (플라즈마 반응에 의한 메탄 활성화에 관한 연구)

  • Methane, the major constituent of natural gas, had been converted to higher hydrocarbons by microwave and radio-frequency plasma in vacuum condition. Methane had been activated to plasma by suppling high energy then converted to ethane, ethylene, acetylene. The direct conversion process of methane had produced few by-products and demanded low-energy. The plasma sources were microwave and radio-frequency. Two types of reactor had been used to activate methane. One is common single tubular-type reactor and the other is series coil-type reactor which used for the first time in this study. To produce more C2 products, methane had been converted by a plasma and catalyst. The results of this study could be used to study mechanism of plasma reaction of methane, design the plant-scale reactor.

자리바꾸기 문제를 활용한 수학적 창의성의 발현 과정 연구

  • 솔리테르(solitaire) 중 간단한 게임인 자리바꾸기 문제에 대해 학습자로 하여금 다양한 해결방법을 산출 하도록 한 후, 그 과정에서 학생들의 수학적 창의성의 발현 과정을 추적해 본다. 제시한 문제 해결 과제에 대한 학습자들의 반응과 해답을 분석함으로써 수학적 창의성에서의 인지적 구성요소인 확산성, 유창성, 논리성, 유연성, 독창성과 정의적 구성요소에 해당하는 적극성, 독자성, 집중성, 정밀성 등이 어떻게 나타나고 있는가를 살펴본다. 또한 그렇게 함으로써 각 구성요소의 의미와 특성을 규명하고자 하며, 나아가 이들 구성요소를 판별할 수 있는 방안에 대한 기초 자료를 제공하고자 한다.

Active Inferential Processing During Comprehension in Poor Readers (미숙 독자들에 있어 이해 도중의 능동적 추리의 처리)

  • Three experiments were conducted using a verification task to examine good and poor readers' generation of causal inferences(with because sentences) and contrastive inferences(with although sentences). The unfamiliar, critical verification statement was either explicitly mentioned or was implied. In Experiment 1, both good and poor readers responded accurately to the critical statement, suggesting that both groups had the linguistic knowledge necessary to the required inferences. Differences were found, however, in the groups' verification latencies. Poor, but not good, readers responded faster to explicit than to implicit verification statements for both because and although sentences. In Experiment 2, poor readers were induced to generate causal inferences for the because experimental sentences by including fillers that were apparently counterfactual unless a causal inference was made. In Experiment 3, poor readers were induced to generate contrastive inferences for the although sentences by including fillers that could only be resolved by making a contrastive inference. Verification latencies for the critical statements showed that poor readers made causal inferences in Experiment 2 and contrastive inferences in Experiment 3 doting comprehension. These results were discussed in terms of context effect: Specific encoding operations performed on anomaly backgrounded in another passage would form part of the context that guides the ongoing activity in processing potentially relevant subsequent text.

Effects of Product Type and Webtoon Attitude in Webtoon PPL (웹툰 PPL에 대한 제품유형과 웹툰 태도의 효과 연구)

  • The current study examines how product type and attitudes toward the webtoon - a digital comic that originated in Korea - affect consumer responses to webtoon product placement (PPL). Specifically, it examines the following responses: the perception of PPL intrusiveness, attitudes toward the PPL, attitudes toward the brand, word-of-mouth intention, and purchase intention. It further investigates how PPL type interacts with product type and attitudes toward the webtoon on consumer responses to the PPL. The findings from a 2 (product type: functional vs. hedonic) × 2 (attitudes toward the webtoon: negative vs. positive) × 2 (PPL type: creative placement vs. on-set placement) between-subject experimental study suggest the following: consumer responses to PPL in webtoon is more positive when the product is hedonic (vs. functional) and when attitudes toward the webtoon are positive (vs. negative). This study further suggests when subjects felt favorably toward the webtoon, the creative placement produced weaker perceptions of PPL intrusiveness and more favorable attitudes toward the PPL than the on-set placement. On the other hand, when subjects felt negatively toward the webtoon, the on-set placement evoked weaker perceptions of intrusiveness and more favorable attitudes toward the PPL than did the creative placement.
