A Study on the Raising of Academic Library Development Funds (대학도서관 발전기금 모집에 관한 연구)

  • This study is to find the way to solve the expecting financial problems of academic library which has to secure more students than other universities. to be specialized. and to have a growth in quality. due to the decline of birth rate and increase of the number of university students. And also I would like to pave the way for raising funds. which will be the pending issue shortly. through studios and data analysis of the condition and way to collect academic library development fund and university development fund in Korea and America. Especially this study introduce some cases to raising funds at University at Albany. University of Kentucky. University of Cornell and the evaluation for the raise funds at 23 universities in the state of California, USA.

  • This study aims to raise academic library funds in Korea through how to raise funds and what conditions are. In order to do this, case studies on academic library funds of university in America as well as academic library funds of university in Korea have been analyzed. As for the specific plan for raising academic library funds, I have indicated to establish office for library development and include library as one of allotment for infrastructure which is similar to the Development Impact Fee in the U.S.A., and the use of library supporting organizations like "Library Friends."

The Study about Library Fund program for the expansion of Library Finance (도서관 재정확충을 위한 기본조성에 관한 연구)

  • This study is intended to find out the possible ways for the expansion of Library Finance. With this necessity, it is indicated three sources, such as governmental. fund from other endowments, public donation, which is stated as the subsidy sources in the 'Library Law', and issuing lotteries as well. Firstly, it is suggested collecting governmental funds, included in budget sheet every year, to the amount of a ten billion won. Secondly, it is indicated the ways to collect funds to the amount of a five billion won respectively from other endowments, such as Korea Raising Association Fund under the jurisdiction of the Minister of Culture and Tourism, Information Promotion Fund, on the basis of statistical data, materials of inspection of the administration, and materials released by the government. Third device is to collect funds over a five billion won every year through public donation and lottery. This study is indicated that three devices to raise the library fund for the expansion of Library Finance to the amount of a hundred and twenty billion won in total as mentioned above.

Management Strategies of Libraries in Ubiquitous Era (유비쿼터스 시대의 도서관 경영전략)

  • The purpose of this study is to propose the management strategies of libraries through exploring the library environment in ubiquitous era. After the internal and external environment of Korean libraries was investigated by papers related with this study, the comprehensive management strategies of libraries were prepared. Five management strategies for library development in ubiquitous era were proposed. They were the strategies of library hybridization, collecting contents, user service diversification, changing library organization and preparing culture of learning organization, and collecting library fund.
