  • To understand the use of the ebooks among undergraduate students, a questionnaire was devised and collected data from 466 respondents. The level of ebook and its service awareness appears to be low, and only about 30% of the students have used ebooks in the past. Students access ebooks primarily through the library homepage. 73% of the users read 3 ebooks and below. The subject and area of reading is fairly spread, however literary works and genre fiction were most popular And the purpose is split into academic and private reading. Most of the users lack of knowledge about additional functions. Overall satisfaction level is low. Discomfort and ebooks illiteracy constitute the major reasons of nonuse, however about 88% of the nonusers show willingness to use in the future. According to the interview, active users are familiar with the screen reading as well as perceived advantages of ebooks. Nontheless, their satisfaction level is still low. Based on the results, recommendations for creating awareness, education, production development and service evaluation are suggested to promote the ebooks use.

  • This paper describes the process and methodology followed in developing the Android-based LG Sangnam Audiobook service and an evaluation of its usefulness to the public. The methods included a survey of user needs, analysis of usage statistics, and user interviews. The study found that visually impaired users: 1) were greatly interested and willing to use smartphones if there were no barrier in cost and access; 2) preferred downloads to streaming services; 3) did not mind performance differences between real and TTS (text-to-speech) voices; 4) showed marked differences in book preferences according to age, 5) made about 14,000 downloads in 2014; and 6) indicated bookmarking and moving between pages and tables of content as the most important functions in using audiobooks.

  • The purposes of this study are to explore FRBR utilities such as work clustering and expression clustering and problems of application of the FRBR by developing work and expression clustering algorithm and implementing it into cataloging system, and to suggest new cataloging rules for FRBR and guideline of MARC description to improve FRBR work clustering. FRBR was suggested by necessitation of collocation function of bibliographic records according to increase of searching materials and multi-version materials, but FRBRization has some problems such as imperfect conversion of bibliographic records to FRBR records and inappropriateness of current cataloging rules for FRBR. Bibliographic records must be processed by FRBR algorithm to construct FRBRized system, but bibliographic records and current cataloging rules couldn't perfectly support FRBRization. Therefore cataloging rules and guidelines of MARC description for FRBR are needed. For constructing FRBRized cataloging system in Korea, it is needed to find problems and solution through FRBR practical application such as developing FRBR algorithm and applying it to cataloging records.

  • The most of all, this study is planned to search an ideal methods to develop the digital library system for our korean ancient books for their safe preservation and, at the same time, for their perusal of transcendental time and space : first. to offer the various access points like traditional oriental Four parts Classics classification, current subject classification and index keyword, etc. : second, to program a digital library system using MARC or XML, but with all bibliographic descriptive elements as possible; third, to prepare the more easy annotated bibliography and index for users' better comprehension, and last, to build original text database for practical reading to avoid the damage of original text. This type of korean ancient books digital library will be developed to the real international bibliographic control by networking enter the same kinds of internal and external organizations.

  • FRBR Library Reference Model is a consolidated model of FR Family Model - FRBR, FRAD, FRSAD developed by IFLA in early 2016. This means the creation of upper model for the consistency of FR individual models. It can be used for the expanding of the discussions on FRBR model in Korea that have been mainly discussed only for the first group of FRBR model. In addition, it can be an opportunity to apply the whole FR Family model to domestic literature in a comprehensive manner. In this study, we analyze the draft of FRBR LRM and apply the model to the Korean classic materials. There are various work, expression, and manifestation related to a work of korean classic material, so it is good to represent the structure of bibliographic information using FR Family model. We built on our experiment using $Prot{\acute{e}}g{\acute{e}}$ to design korean classic materials' ontology modeling, which propose a new orientation of korean classic materials' organizing based on FRBR LRM. As a result, we find out the applicability of the FRBR LRM model on upcoming bibliographical data control environment.

  • Based upon the assumption that both theory building and theory use are intertwined to construct a cohesive body of knowledge in the filed, this study attempts to identify the state of theoretical framework by examining the number and the quality of theoretical articles by subfield. Theoretical article is characterized as an incident in which in which the author contributes to the development or the use of theory in his/her own paper. Theoretical incidents were identified by a content analysis of 1,661 articles in four LIS journals from 1984 to 2003. The findings suggest that the four subfields, such as information seeking/use, information retrieval, library management, and scholar communication had great contributions to both theory building and theory use. Also, two research areas such as bibliometrics and professionals are very likely to be theoretical. Further, the analysis of the name of theories used by subfields could give an insight into the understanding of how the theoretical frameworks of each subfield are related.

  • The purpose of this study is to present the theoretical basis and quantified objective standards for the establishment of collection management policy. The study results are summarized as follows. Most of the study books were in the form of periodicals as a steady seller. Most of the steady sellers were textbooks which published periodically. As a modern novel, a steady seller was able to confirm the phenomenon of dependence on a specific author. Bestsellers were investigated to be influenced by publishers and authors. Books of publishers that publish comics and children's textbooks had a significant correlation with the selection of bestsellers. The average number of recommended books borrowed per recommended book was 14,871. The average number of loans per book selected as a bestseller was 53,531. Based on the loan data, about 80-82% of all top-tier loans were covered by 90%, and about 27-29% of all top-ranked loans were covered by 50%. This shows that the Pareto Principle can be firmly applied to public library lending patterns. Loans in the field of literature accounted for 50.6% of the total loans. Among literature, Korean literature accounted for 51.3% of the total. The natural sciences were generating more loans with a relatively small pool of literature compared to other subject fields.

  • In our knowledge-based society, a corporation's main growth engine consists of its unique core competences and how these are organized rather than materialized competitive advantage. Intangible factors such as creative organizational culture, learning capability, brands, marketing ability and technology are notable examples of such core competencies. To ensure constant development of a corporation, it is important to understand the environment in which these factors operate. Drawing on literature research, this paper looks at organizational culture and change, and employees' attitudes and resistance factors to such change. To strengthen the explanation of this study the Korea Asset Management Corporation was used as a case study. From the point of view of information science, knowledge has been viewed as that which is found in books and databases. Such "knowledge" is storable, passive and unchangeable. However, more recently it is seen by many researchers that this approach is limited in that it ignores the knowledge that "sits" in human "bodyminds" and organizations. Such knowledge forms the backbone of organizational culture and should be considered in any meaningful study of information.

  • It is defined in the internal standard of the NAK namely a NAK/G8-1:2013(v.1.) such as TIFF, PNG, PDF/A, JPEG 2000 as a Long-Term Preservation Master File for internal Standardization of Paper Archives in the Central Archives of Korea. This study reviewed the possibility that JPEG format could be a standard as a Long-Term Preservation Master File for internal Standardization of Paper Archives in the Central Archives of Korea. I pointed to the unique characteristics of JPEG file format and analysed and compared with TIFF format that is a representative master file. Through this study, I suggested that JPEG format also should be additionally included in the standard, as a master file, because it meets a qualification and functional requirements of master file and can guarantee the authenticity, reliability, integrity and usability. The meaning of this study is that JPEG format, be added to master file standard, can set up a environment that has lots of benefit in the domain of usability, compatibility to user as well as the authenticity, reliability, integrity.
