Positioning technique which has been widely used for making marketing strategy by analyzing customer's image also has been used for public and test-taker's image analysis about public facilities, entrepreneurs, universities. This study analyze image of library and Information science students who trying to find a job in library fields about diverse types of library and information centers by Positioning technique. As a result of Similarity cognition analysis by multidimensional Scaling and K-means clustering, it was found that students recognize that public, national, university, school library are similar, on the other hand, portal company and special library are different from those types. In the jobs, user service jobs and technical service jobs are recognized as separated clusters, and cultural program job is also recognized dissimilarly from those clusters. By the way, images about work satisfaction and stability of employment shows high in national library; high wage shows high in portal company; employee's growth potential shows high in special library; job importance shows high in reference service jobs; difficulty shows high in content's job. Anyway, in the workplace selection, almost students regard stability of employment as top priorities, accordingly they prefers public library at most. Such a preference concentration tendency is strongly appeared in local university students than in metropolitan area students as a result of Pearson's chi-square test.

XML을 기반으로 하는 가상문서는 인터넷 상의 정보 공유를 가능하게 하여 새로운 지식을 생성할 수 있도록 한다. 가상문서에서는 비정형(텍스트, 이미지, 멀티미디어 데이터)과 준정형(HTML, XML) 데이터를 링크로 연결하여 정보를 제공하고 있다. HTML과 같은 기존의 웹 문서에서는 스크립트나 CGI 같은 것을 통하여 정형 데이터(데이터베이스)의 정보를 제공하고 있으므로 가상문서에서도 자연스럽게 정형 데이터를 연결하여 사용이 가능하다. 본 논문에서는 디지털 도서관 시스템에서 정형 데이터를 지원하기 위해 질의 링크를 포함하는 가상문서를 효율적으로 처리할 수 있도록 데이터베이스를 설계 및 구현하며, 데이터베이스 스키마 정보를 관리하여 필요한 데이터베이스를 검색하여 질의 링크의 생성을 돕도록 하였다.

The purpose of this article is to discuss about the progress and problems in Korean school library policies. The emphasis is on identifying both distinctive features and indigenous limitations in policy-making process, and special concerns are with both side effects and backgrounds of its rough-and-ready human resource policy. This article intends to approach the human resource policy issues from the viewpoints of school librarians as well as those of policy makers. The final suggestion includes both strategies and methods to make up and intensify the weakness of Korean school library policies, with focusing on enhancing the work competency of school librarians as well as the policy capacity of school library association.

The basis of library services is to support users' efficient access to materials, and to this end high-quality search services using bibliographic data (bibliographic MARC) must be premised. However, in Korea, discussions on search services based on library catalogs are still in the early 2010s, so it is necessary to understand the current status and examine user needs. In this context, this study aims to provide a solution for public library searching services to become an efficient search tool based on user needs. For this purpose, first, this study analyzed cataloging services of 49 public libraries in Busan by focusing on 'data search method' and 'method of providing information', second, identified user needs by conducting a survey of 322 users visiting public libraries, and finally, proposed improvement directions based on best practices.

This study has examined the cause of the library anxiety among foreign students upon visiting college libraries. 131 students were investigated using Library Anxiety Scale (LAS) to analyze the relationship between sex, grade, library use education, frequency of library use, Korean skill and cultural heterogeneity. The result of the LAS showed an average of 2.60 among foreign students, and the anxiety from the "mechanical barrier" was scored the highest. For sex, male students tended to be relatively more anxious than female students on the "accommodation of library" and "knowledge of library." Students who participated in the library use education were less anxious than those who did not, and the more one used library, the less one became anxious. Based on these results, the study proposes the way ahead for resolving library anxiety through library use education and frequency of use.

인터넷의 급속한 성장과 더불어 많은 정보와 데이터들을 인터넷을 통하여 얻을 수 있게 되었으며 많은 단체들이 문서들을 웹을 통하여 이용 가능하게 만들고 있다. 이에 따라 다양한 정보와 데이터를 효과적으로 분류하고 검색하는 문서 분류 (Document Classification)에 대한 알고리즘이 다양한 분야에서 널리 연구되어 왔으며 본 논문에서 초점을 두고 있는 전자 도서관 (Digital Library) 분야에서도 활발히 연구되어지고 있다. 하지만 기존의 전자 도서관의 문서 분류 알고리즘들은 문서들의 각 단락의 비중을 고려하지 않은 채 단어들의 발생 빈도에 초점을 두어 많은 잡음 단어 (Noise Term)를 포함하고 그로 인하여 분류 성능이 떨어졌다. 본 논문에서는 문서 단락의 중요도에 따라 다른 .가중치를 부여하여 단어 지지도 (Term Support)가 높은 단어들을 추출하고 그 단어들로 연관 규칙 (Association Rules)을 이용하여 분류 규칙을 생성하는 방법을 제안한다. 제안된 방법의 성능평가를 위해 문서 분류에 널리 쓰이는 나이브 베이지안 분류자 (Na$\square$ve Bayesian Classifier) 및 기존의 단순 연관 규칙 분류자 (Associative Classifier)와 비교 평가하였다. 그 결과, 각 가중치가 부여된 연관 규칙 분류 방법이 나이브 베이지안 분류 방법과 단순 연관 규칙 분류 방법보다 높은 성능을 보였다.

디지털 도서관 시스템의 검색에서 발생하는 가장 큰 문제점은 질의에 있어 사용자의 의도와 시스템의 해석간의 의미적, 형식적 차이가 생긴다는 점에 있다. 우리는 보다 효과적으로 사용자의 의도를 반영할 수 있도록 사용자의 질의를 변환하는 지능적 검색 에이전트를 제안한다. 이를 위해서 의미적 질의 최적화기법에 근거를 둔 변환 알고리즘과 에이전트 아키텍쳐를 정의한다. 제안된 알고리즘은 범용 추론키보다 훨씬 간단하면서도 효과적으로 사용자의 질의를 변환한다.

Due to COVID-19, user instruction programs could not be conducted face-to-face, and the sessions have been moved online. The present study attempted to investigate how online user instruction influences the information literacy ability of college students. The study randomly selected college students (N=50) who completed online user instruction sessions and college college students (N=50) who did not complete them among freshment who went to to college in 2020 to measure their information literacy abilities. For this study, a tool for measuring information literacy abilities was developed by referring to several previous studies. The measurement results were analyzed by the independent samples t-test, and significant differences were found between students who completed online user instruction sessions and those who did not. The findings of the study have confirmed that it is effective in enhancing library users' information literacy abilities to provide user instruction online under the COVID-19 situation, and even in post-COVID 19 times, which helps them appropriately utilize the characteristics of digital libraries. The information literacy measurement tool used in the present study was developed to evaluate online information literacy, and thus contributed to the extension of the literature of digital information literacy and user instruction. The present study provided practical implications for how academic libraries will promote information services to cope with environmental changes in which contact-free (untact) services are obliged.

This study was conducted as basic research for establishing a mid to long term development plan for libraries in Uiseong-gun, designated as a depopulated area. First, the social, cultural, and environmental characteristics of Uiseong-gun were analyzed and compared with the library infrastructure of depopulation areas similar in size with Uiseong-gun. In addition, a survey was conducted on the perception of users to understand the usage status of libraries, satisfaction with services and improvement plans, non-use factors, and demands for new libraries. Based on this process, the direction of Uiseong-gun library policy was presented. Specifically, four strategic directions for the development of libraries (future orientation, community revitalization, service specialization of the information poor, enhancement of local humanities and spiritual culture) and five key service tasks (building library brand, implementing innovative spaces and services, expanding library functions for improvement of settlement conditions of residents, developing and providing services for the elderly reflecting local characteristics, promoting reading culture) were derived. The proposed core tasks focused on future-oriented library services to overcome the limitations of a population decrease area and develop the potential of Uiseong-gun.

This study aims to compare the statistical indicators of libraries of 57 Korean universities and 116 North American universities using Rinfo and ARL statistics respectively. The authors compared twelve similar statistical indicators and found that North American academic libraries were superior in 'volumes in library', 'electronic books', 'total staff', 'total library materials expenditures', 'total items borrowed', 'total items loaned', 'library presentations to groups', and 'participants in group presentations', compared to Korean academic libraries. Although Korean academic libraries showed higher numbers in 'annual gate count', 'reference transactions', 'initial circulations', and 'full-text article requests', there exist some differences in definitions and scopes of these indicators between Rinfo and ARL, needing cautious interpretation of results. The findings of the study imply the needs of expanding support for academic libraries that play pivotal roles in increasing competitiveness of teaching and research of universities. It was also found that systematic management and improvement for statistical indicators of Rinfo are necessary.
