This study aims to analyze the intention of public library use of citizens by applying Ajzen's extended theory of planned behavior (ETPB). A questionnaire survey was conducted to identify the relationship between personal characteristics, factors from ETPB, such as attitude, subject norm, and perceived behavioral control, and the intention of public library use, Library knowledge was also added as an additional independent factor in this study. The results showed that attitude and library knowledge were more important factors than others. Subject norm and perceived behavioral control had also positive effects on the intention, Additionally, some personal characteristics, such as age, educational background, and household income, and public library use experience made significant differences in the intention. Based on the results, this study made some suggestions for expanding the scope of public library users.

The purpose of this study is to analyze variables affecting the number of circulated books which is one of the indicators representing the library use behavior. For the analysis, 2015-2019 data for public libraries was acquired from the National Library Statistics System. The Latent Growth Model estimating a latent intercept and a latent slop based on the individual library trajectories was applied. The results are as followed; first, the circulation rate tends to be decreased. Second, the most affecting factor on the library circulation decrease was the collection budget. This study suggests increasing a collection budget in order to prevent the library circulation decrease while the library is operating in a daily routine.

The objective of this study is to move the initiative of children's electronic books from portal sites to libraries and to help improving libraries' information services through their systematic study. The present use state of an e-book site for children that is currently serviced by A-academic library was mainly analyzed for the study. The desirable acquisition policies were also suggested for the activation of the juvenile e-book services for libraries.

The purpose of the study is to suggest preferable future strategies for interlibrary use of e-journal. For this purpose, the study reviewed the meaning of interlibrary use for e-journal in the digital environment and the disputes about it, and analyzed several license clauses for interlibrary use.

In order to investigate school libraries' educational impact, two different surveys were conducted. One examined students' school library use in general, including the frequency, purpose, and effect of their library use, and the relative importance of the library in their campus life. The other examined and analyzed their perception of the benefit of the school library to determine if any differences exist among the following three levels: 1) libraries staffed with a dedicated teacher librarian, 2) libraries without a dedicated teacher librarian but active, and 3) libraries without a dedicated teacher librarian and inactive. The questionnaire to survey student's perception had 38 statements, The surveys on student's library use and their perceptions indicated that school libraries benefit the students' reading activities the most. The overall mean of the perception was 3.24(in 5 scales), There were distinct differences among the three levels of school library conditions: the mean for libraries with a teacher librarian scored highest at 3.37, libraries without a teacher librarian but active scored second highest at 3.20, and libraries without a teacher librarian and inactive scored lowest at 3.16. The levels of school library condition suggested direct links to the educational effect on students' achievements.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the current status of the military library services and the factors for promoting the reading of the soldiers and the activation of the use of the library by investigating the perception, use behavior and satisfaction of the library users, and the usefulness of 'JinJung' library collection. For this purpose, we surveyed the users of the Army, Navy, and Air Force military libraries. As a result of the survey, they responded that they were reading to acquire new knowledge and information and to cultivate the education. The favorite reading areas were general fiction, poetry, comic books, martial arts and fantasy novels. In order to encourage the soldiers to read in the military, diversity and quantitative expansion of collections are most needed, and soldiers said they most desire to expand the books on novels, poetry, admissions and employment preparation books. In addition, in order to increase the utilization rate of the military library and the interest in reading, it was necessary to increase the accessibility of the soldiers' library and books to the military, and to increase the library use time.

This study analyzed library awareness and anxiety among people in their 20s living in East Asia. The objective is to develop the international library cooperation agenda for life-long education proliferation. User groups in Korea, China, and Japan were investigated to understand the differences in library awareness based on the situational contexts such as preferred resources, use frequency, educational level, and gender. Results of the data analysis showed the correlation between library anxiety and use patterns such as preferred information sources and frequency of use. Specifically, the user group in China has the highest level of library anxiety with every factor. Also, the Korean user group was measured to have the lowest level of library anxiety in terms of digital information factor. Based on these results, the study presents several recommendations for resolving library anxiety such as embracing new information need with regard to environmental change and suggesting a new space policy for libraries.

In a situation with reducing numbers of students and local universities in crisis, this study aims to analyze collection and loan usage data in small-sized university libraries and present evidence for guiding their collection development policy. The data was collected from Rinfo from 2010 to 2022 regarding the numbers of enrolled students, collected books, book loans, and electronic resources and compared the average values of entire 4-year university libraries to those of small-sized ones by year and region. Results show that while the numbers of enrolled students and book loans have decreased in both of groups, the number of collected books has increased 30% more in small groups and the amount of electronic resource use has increased enormously as well. Correlation analysis presents that both of groups have the consistent result. It is suggested that small-sized university libraries should highly increase their budget ratio to electronic resources for collection development and build a consortium by university's speciality for mutual use of electronic resources.

도서관을 찾는 사람은 늘고 있으나, 읽는 책은 베스트셀러에 한정됐다. <출판저널>이 '독서의 달'을 맞아 전국 도서관 사서들을 대상으로 도서관 이용자의 독서경향에 대해 설문조사한 결과, 교육환경의 개선과 IMF여파로 이용자 수는 증가했으나, 도서구입예산과 독서 프로그램 부족으로 도서관에서 이뤄지는 독서는 문학 등 특정 분야에 편중되고 있다는 사실이 밝혀졌다. 학생들의 대출 건수는 꾸준히 늘어 강화군립도서관만 하더라도 전체 대출의 55%가 학생이다. 다른 도서관도 사정은 같아 학생들이 하교하는 오후 시간대에 가장 이용률이 높다. 최근에는 실직인구가 늘면서 성인 남자의 이용률도 높아졌다. 오미순 사서(해운대도서관)는 "IMF 여파로 취업.창업 관련서의 이용률이 늘고 있으며 그 이용자 대부분은 성인"이라고 밝혔고 성은정 사서(부여도서관) 역시 "IMF사태 이후, 성인 남자들의 이용률이 높다"고 응답했다. 하지만 문제는 도서관이 보유한 책이 베스트셀러에 국한돼 다양한 독서가 이뤄지지 않는다는 점. 조사결과, 이용자들은 <아리랑>, <하늘이여 땅이여>, <남자의 향기>, <토지> 등을 많이 찾는 것으로 집계됐다. 심지어는 로맨스소설이나 무협소설이 청소년들의 읽을거리로 제공되는 실정. 사정은 특수도서관도 마찬가지다. 어린이도서관의 경우, 어린이.성인 모두 문학류를 많이 찾고 점자도서관의 경우, 전체대출 중 80%가 소설류다. 구본일 사서(강화도서관)는 "예산이 부족해 이용자들이 많이 찾는 베스트셀러를 중심으로 구입할 수밖에 없다"고 밝히고 "다양한 책을 갖출 수 있도록 도서구입비 확충이 시급하다"고 주장했다. 또 알맞은 독서 프로그램이 없는 점도 이용자들의 베스트셀러 편중현상에 한몫을 담당했다. 진재호 사서(광주도서관)는 "과거보다 독서생활화가 고조됐지만, 양서를 읽는 독서문화의 부족"을, 김선연 사서(어린이도서관)는 "유아시절부터 성인까지 자연스레 고전을 읽게 하는 제도적 장치의 확충"을 지적했다. 한편 월평균 대출권수는 대도시 지역의 경우 11,000-45,000권, 그 외 지역은 1,600-6,000권, 특수도서관은 어린이도서관이 55,000권, 전화나 우편으로 대출하는 점자도서관이 650권이다. 관내열람만 허용되는 사회과학도서관은 월평균 이용자가 7,676명으로 대학생.대학원생.교수 등이 전체의 68%를 차지한다.
