미국내 한국학 도서관계의 최근 동향

  • 양기백선생은 20여년전 도미하여 몸마우스 대학에서 정치학사, 아메리칸 대학에서 행정학석사, 가톨릭 대학에서 도서관학석사 학위를 획득하고 현재 미 국회도서관의 한국부장으로 봉직하면서 한국도서관발전에 많은 공헌을 하고 있다. 1965년에 한국에 관한 자료수집차 일시 귀국하여 관계인사들과 모임을 가진 바 있다.

  • A method is proposed to design a mobile tele-existence system, which can be remotely driven with the auditory and visual sensation of presence. The system consists of mobile robot with camera and two microphones. The effectiveness of the proposed system was evaluated by navigation experiments of the tele-robot through an obstructed space.

An Effective Similarity Measure for Content-Based Image Retrieval using MPEG-7 Dominant Color Descriptor (내용기반 이미지 검색을 위한 MPEG-7 우위컬러 기술자의 효과적인 유사도)

  • This paper proposes an effective similarity measure for content-based image retrieval using MPEG-7 DCD. The proposed method can measure the similarity of images with the percentage of dominant colors extracted from images. As the result of experiments, we achieved a significant improvement of 18.92% with global DCD and 47.22% with local DCD in ANMRR than the result by QHDM. This result shows that the proposed method is an effective similarity measure for content-based image retrieval. Especially, our method is useful for region-based image retrieval.

  • This paper proposes an image retrieval method based on the Multiple Region-of-Interest. In the proposed method, the image is segmented into blocks, among which the blocks overlapped with multiple ROIs are selected. The similarity of images is measured using the MPEG-7 dominant color descriptor(DCD) and considering the relative location of the overlapped blocks. The experimental results showed that the proposed method improves the retrieval performance than the previous methods using the global DCD or comparing the blocks at the same position. In addition, the method that considers the relative position of blocks overlapped with the multiple ROIs also showed a better performance than the existing methods.

Physicochemical Properties and Hydration of Rice on Various Polishing Degrees (도정도에 따른 쌀의 수화와 이화학적 특성)

  • The physicochemical and gelatinization properties of rice flours, which were prepared by polishing nonwaxy brown rice (Dongjin byeo), depending on polishing degrees were investigated. The contents of protein, ash, lipid and fiber decreased significantly as the degrees of polishing increased and water uptake of rice grains decreased during hydration. When the surface of the soaked rice grains was examined by the SEM, extensive crack formation was observed. The water binding capacities, swelling power and solubility of rice flour increased as the polishing degree increased. By the amylogram, the initial gelatinization temperatures of rice flour decreased as the polishing degree increased and the peak viscosities, the breakdown and consistency of rice flour increased as the polishing degree increased.

Stratigraphy of the BP-1 well from Sora Sub-basin (소라소분지 BP-1공의 층서연구)

  • This study carried out palynological analysis and seismic interpretation to establish a stratigraphic and environmental reconstruction mainly based on fossil palynomorphs and seismic reflection data correlated with the oil exploation well (BP-1) located in the Sora Sub-basin. There were frequent environmental and floral changes due to sea level change in the Sora Sub-basin. The palynomorph assemblages found in the well sediments enabled paleoecological zonation of the well sediment sequence resulting in 4 zones: Ecozone III, Ecozone IV, Ecozone V, Ecozone VI. Index fossils among palynomorphs indicate geological ages of the units within the well ranging from Eocene to Pleistocene, and paleoenvironment varies from freshwater to inner neritic marine. Previous studies suggest that the marine deposits were slightly different in stratigraphic range from well to well. It is considered the difference is credited to geomorphological setting. This study also shows stratigraphic correlation between existing wells and BP-1 well to establishes a standard stratigraphy of the Domi Basin.

The Physicochemical Characteristics of Rice Flour with Different Milling Degree of Rice Cultivar "Deuraechan" (드래찬 쌀 품종의 도정도를 달리한 쌀가루의 이화학적 특성)

  • This study investigated the physicochemical characteristics of processing type rice (Deuraechan) with brown rice and brown rice milling different yields (97.4, 96.0, 94.4 and 92.0%). In the results of proximate composition of rice flours with the different milling degrees, moisture contents were 12.92~13.07%, crude protein contents were 6.62~8.47%, crude lipid contents were 0.84~2.52%, crude ash contents were 0.51~1.17%, and crude fiber contents were 0.30~1.16%. The moisture contents were not significantly different. In the results of Hunter's color value of rice flours, L value was the highest in white rice, and a and b values were the highest in brown rice. Water binding capacity of rice flours was the highest in white rice 127.44%, but brown rice was the lowest 114.31%. As for amylogram properties, brown rice was the highest in the initial pasting temperature and temp. at maximum viscosity. However, white rice was the highest in maximum viscosity, viscosity at $50^{\circ}C$, breakdown and setback. In the results of different scanning calorimeter thermal properties of rice flours, brown rice was the highest in onset temperature, peak temperature and end temperature. The enthalpy (${\delta}H$) was the lowest in brown rice flour and the highest in white rice flour.

  • 이 글은 지난 5월 29일 본 협회에서 주최한 세계도서의해 기념 강연회에서 “도서관학과 정보과학의 최근연양”이란 주제로 강연한 내용을 간추려 정리한 것이다. 연사 장기택 선생은 1962년에 도미하여 교육심리학 및 Documentation and Information Science를 전공하였다. 1968년에는 Appalachia 교육정보센터의 소장을 역임하였으며 현재는 미국심리학회(APA)의 National Information System for Psychology (NISP)개발 Project의 선임 정보전문가로 활약주이다. 따라서 금번 KIST의 초청으로 일시 귀국하여 약 2개월간 체한하는동안 선생의 바쁜 일정의 틈을 내어 고국의 도서관과 동지들을 위해 강연회를 갖었든 것이다.

  • 승망은 어군을 적극적으로 쫓아서 어획하는 것이 아니라 어군이 연안으로 래유하기를 기다려서 잡는 소극적인 어법의 어구이기 때문에 일반적으로 지역적인 해황 특성의 영향을 많이 받는다. 이러한 승망은 길그물, 원통 그리고 원통의 모서리에 기다란 원추형의 자루그물이 있는 정치망의 일종으로 이 어구는 한국 전 연안의 내만에 부설하여 숭어, 도미, 대구, 농어, 전어, 쥐치, 오징어 등을 어획한다. (중략)
