  • Mapping of EXPRESS, which is object-favored language to represent IFC model, to Relational Database is not straightforward. Model size can be much bigger and data can be missed through process. However mapping to the object concept added database, such as Object Oriented Database or Object Relational Database, may be simpler and have lots of advantages. This study investigates previous IFC mapping studies, concept of Relational Database and Object Oriented Database, and mapping methodology to Object Relational Database using object.

  • Quality elements and evaluation methods should be considered according to the characteristics of spatial database. The purpose of this study is to propose specific methods for quality evaluation focusing on land database which are an important parts of spatial database. Through the study, of quality evaluation for selected quality elements are specified, which are based on the construction processes of the topogaphical database, cadastral database, and zoning database. Position accuracy, attribute accuracy, consistency, completeness, temporal accuracy, believability, and lineage are selected as the quality elements of land database. A various statistical and mathematical skills are proposed for measurement and assesment methods of quality elements.

  • Such information services source like digital library has been asked information services of atypical multimedia database like image, voice, VOD/AOD. Examined in this study are suggestions such as word-phrase generator, syllable recoverer, morphological analyzer, corrector for voice processing. Suggested voice processing technique transform voice database into tort database, then extract index database from text database. On top of this, the study suggest a information retrieval model to use in extracted index database, voice full-text information retrieval.

  • In the future knowledge society, the importance of business data is expected to increase, and it is recognized as a raw material for companies to manufacture product or develop service. As the importance of data increases, methods to calculate the economic value of database assets is being studied. There are many studies to evaluate the value of database assets, but the characteristics of database assets are not fully reflected. In this study, we classified database assets into revenue-type, non-revenue-type, and public-type database assets by considering the characteristics of database assets. In addition, focusing on the fact that revenue-type database assets can be valued similarly to existing technology valuation, we developed a method for calculating the life of database assets that includes risk-adjusted discount rate.

  • In this paper, we present the development of a system(WebPierrot) that helps end-users to generate home pages with the construction of their corresponding web databases without the web programming technique. It consists of a page editor. a database wizard and a database manager. The page editor creates and modifies multimedia home pages. The database wizard generates databases operated with home pages automatically, and the database manager maintains the database related to the home pages. The page editor has been made based on the DHTML(Dynamic Hypertext Markup Language) and lets users generate multimedia home pages interactively. The database manager creates, updates and manages web databases. The system has the advantage which end-users can create multimedia home pages containing databases without requiring web database programming.

  • Database integration is a common and growing challenge with the proliferation of database systems, data warehouses, data marts, and other OLAP systems in organizations. Although there are many methods of sharing data between databases, true interoperability of database integration system that improves in the database federation architecture by allowing domain administrators to simply and efficiently capture database semantics. The semantic information is combined using a tool for producing a global view. Building the global view is the bottleneck in integration because there are few tools that support its construction, and these tools often require sophisticated knowledge and experience to operate properly. The technique and tool presented is simple and powerful enough to be used by all database administrators, yet expressive enough to support the majority of integration queries.

  • In the ASP(Application Service Provider) business, applications using database sometimes require some data from clients' databases. These days such data are extracted from client database using manual database operations as an EXCEL file and the ASP, once receiving this file, transfers it into the application's database using manual database operations. This paper describes how to deal with data transmitting between the client database and ASP database on the web without using database manual operations for data extraction and insertion. We propose a framework which enables to transmit client data in a systematical way, to match different attribute names of each database for sharing same attribute values, and to avoid exposing information about the network path of client database to the ASP. This approach consists of two steps of data processing. The first is extracting data from client database as XML format by using a downloaded client program from ASP site, the second is uploading and storing the XML file into the ASP database. The implemented prototype system shows the suggested data integration paradigm is valid and ASP business needing integration of client database can be activated using it.

  • 세계 데이터베이스 산업을 잘 이해하기 위하여 1970년대부터 1992년까지 유통된 컴퓨터가독형 데이터베이스를 수집하였으며, 1993년에는 Gale Directory of Database(이하 GDD)에 포함된 여러 통계를 분석해 보았다. 이글은 컴퓨터가독형 DB뿐만 아니라 GDD에 나타난 통계를 비교분석하여 DB산업의 '94년 동향을 살펴보고 그 특징을 알리려는데 목적이 있다. 이런 데이터베이스의 통계를 계속 활용하고 전체적인 데이터베이스 비교통계를 만들기 위해 데이터베이스 엔트리들을 특별히 등록하였다. 이글은 과거의 데이터베이스산업이 지역별, 산업특성에 따라 어떻게 변화되어 왔는가를 통계별로 설명하고 있다.
