Analysis of educational effect on unified curriculum of regular engineering education and lifelong education (정규 공학교육과 평생교육의 통합교육과정에 따른 효과 분석)

  • Continuing Education institutions of the university will be activated to increase opportunities for adult education and to give educational functions of the university back to society, but professional development programs conducted by institutions does not recognize as a formal education because those programs do not share the quality of education using the university's infrastructure. In this paper, by breaking away from the issues of Continuing Education, we develop the incumbent professional development programs through the sharing of high-quality education programs of university, and analysis the effectiveness of those programs in which university students participate during their school vacation. The proposed programs was to verify the educational effect through survey of students who participated in the proposed training. Grafting professional development programs onto future engineering education of university would like to be introduced.

  • Sustainable development has been recognized as one of the most important issues in economic growth since quantitative growth reached its limit. It is claimed that a non-economic value such as human right, education, welfare, and health is a vital factor for sustainable development. Most of all, education is considered to be the most important key to build up sustainable society. E-learning could make it easier for all to spread equal education out. This paper suggests a model for cyber universities which can explain how much cyber universities contribute to improve the sustainable development and what social responsibilities cyber university can carry out as lifelong education institutes. Cyber universities in Korea seem to aim quasipublic, openness, and integration to solve the educational issues we face and uncover their growth potential. Cyber universities will contribute to build sustainable society through giving a huge education opportunities for all based on boosting liberal art education, mass-education, globalization, and commercialization.

  • Cyber universities, which were established by the Life Long Education act, face a lot of problems, such as high drop-out rate. One of the major reason of the problems results from lack of curriculum specialization. In fact, cyber universities have been operated curriculum which were similar to the traditional universities or other kinds of lifelong educational institutions. The purpose of the study was to investigate a direction of specialized curriculum among cyber universities. Based on the literature review, curriculum analysis, and the SWOT analysis, I recommended what the particular institution needed to be done to contribute to better education and perform their role successfully.
