  • This study aimed to compare Psycho-social Well-being depending on level of internet addiction and investigate the factors inducing internet addiction among 749 college students. The Internet Addiction Diagnosis Criterion Inventory was used to classify participants into two groups, Internet overuse and Internet normal use. The psychosocial well-being of each group was measured by hopelessness, idea of suicide, suicide attempt, stress, social isolation, and mental health. Data were analyzed using the t-test and $x^2$-test to compare general characteristics, level of internet addiction and psycho-social well-being between two groups(the overuse and normal use group). Moreover, logistic regression analysis was used to examine the factors inducing internet addiction. The results placed 82 people (10.9%) in the internet overuse group and 667 people(89.1%) in the internet normal use group. The internet overuse group showed higher level of hopelessness, idea of suicide, suicide attempt, stress, social isolation, and mental health scores than the internet normal use group. Therefore, people in the internet overuse group were more likely to have worse Psycho-social well-being. The results of this study recommend that the Internet overuse should be screened early because it can be useful in developing addiction prevention programs and then finally improving the psycho-social well-being.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the differences in psychological adjustment among university students according to their parents' divorce status and their parents' conflict. Specifically, students who have not-divorced parents were subdivided into two groups: those who have with a high degree of conflict and with a low degree of conflict. The results were as follows. First, the degree of the marital conflict from the divorced parents is higher than the one of the marital conflict from the parents not divorced. Second, the group who has the parents with a high level of marital conflict went through the highest difficulties among 3 groups at all variables without the parent-child relationship. Therefore, this study suggests that marital conflict is more closely related to psychological adjustment of children than parental divorce itself.

It is necessary to conduct collective assessment and screening of college students' mental health in the opening season of every year. This study uses and trains a multi-layer perceptron neural network model for deep learning to identify facial emotions. After the training, real pictures and videos were input for face detection. After detecting the positions of faces in the samples, emotions were classified, and the predicted emotional results of the samples were sent back and displayed on the pictures. The results show that the accuracy is 93.2% in the test set and 95.57% in practice. The recognition rate of Anger is 95%, Disgust is 97%, Happiness is 96%, Fear is 96%, Sadness is 97%, Surprise is 95%, Neutral is 93%, such efficient emotion recognition can provide objective data support for capturing negative. Deep learning emotion recognition system can cooperate with traditional psychological activities to provide more dimensions of psychological indicators for health.

Among antidepressive coping behaviors, cognitive activity-oriented behaviors was the one with highest percentage(30.8%). Depression was negatively related to functional independence, attitudinal independence, emotional independence from father and conflictual independence from mother. And depression was positively related to conflictual independence from father. These results suggest that it is necessary to develop nursing intervention to strengthen psychological separation form parents and to be able to help desirable antidepressive coping behaviors for the psychological health of university students.

  • Objective: This study examined the use of mental health helping systems among college students in Korea. A behavioral model of health service utilization was applied to examine factors influencing different types of helping systems. Methods: A total of 454 college students from four universities participated in the survey. A self-administered questionnaire measuring help-seeking behaviors including formal health and mental health services, informal helping system, peer group, and family support was used. Results: Respondents frequently turn to family members and peer group when in need, and age, sex, mental Health status, and attitude and knowledge on mental illness were significant factors affecting help-seeking behaviors of Korean students. While older students and those with more severe symptoms were more likely to seek help from formal resources, students with more severe symptoms were less likely to seek help from informal resources. Male students and those with negative attitude toward mental illness were less likely to ask peer groups for help. Conclusions: Study results indicate that informal resources and peer groups can be significant sources of social support for individuals in their late adolescence and young adulthood, however, their role as gateways to professional help is limited. Student counseling centers should take on a more active role in reaching out; implications for developing peer leaders as counselors and self-help groups are discussed.
