Fire Alarm Sound Transmission in Apartment Units (공동주택에서의 화재경보음 전달)

  • To reduce the number of casualties in the case of fire, an alarm sound needs to be delivered to the people who remain in the apartment unit. On the other hand, it was reported that the fire alarm sound generated in the elevator hall was not delivered sufficiently to the people staying in the apartment units. In this study, the background noise level and noise level generated in an apartment unit were measured during the day and night time. In addition, the transmission of the fire alarm sound into the each room of apartment units was simulated and compared with the background noise level. The fire alarm sound generated in the elevator halls was reduced by the fire door and doors, and was not transmitted sufficiently into the internal spaces of the apartment units. Starting evacuation action was difficult after hearing the fire alarm sound generated outside the apartment units. To improve the transmission of an alarm sound to the inner spaces of apartment units, an acoustic simulation was carried out for cases where the alarm sound generator was installed on a wall-pad in the living room and the alarm sound generator was installed on the ceiling of each rooms in apartment units. Background noise of + 15 dB and 75 dB (A) were satisfied when alarm sound generator was installed on the ceiling of each room.

Effect of Re-ventilated Fan Capacity on Road Tunnel Fire (제트팬 용량이 도로터널 화재에 미치는 영향)

  • In case of a fire inside a tunnel, unlike ordinary roads, it is very difficult for a driver to obtain visibility, and a large accident is highly likely to occur. In this study, the smoke behavior, visible distance, and CO concentration of a jet fan were analyzed using the NIST fire simulation (FDS). All analyses were set to HRRPUA (Heat Release Rate Per Area) 3.6MW/m and all the analysis times were set to 600s. In all analyses by CFD, the results were confirmed at y=30m and y=110m, and smoke behavior analysis, visible range analysis, and carbon monoxide concentration were confirmed according to the diameter and flow rate. As the size and flow rate of the jet fan increased, the visibility distance was high at y=30m, and the concentration of carbon monoxide was also confirmed to be 0 ppm. Therefore, proper setting of the jet fan diameter and flow rate will be an excellent solution for fires in tunnels, and taking refuge at upstream area of a re-ventilated fan can reduce the number of casualties.

  • The installation of the elevator ARD(Automatic Rescue Device) system has been forced into law in these days in order to safely rescue passengers during power failure. The configuration of the ARD system consists of energy storage device, power converter and control systems. The EDLC(Electric Double Layer Capacitor) are used as energy storage device for rapid charge/discharge purposes. The power conditioning system (PCS) consists of bi-directional converter, 3-phase converter and control system. The dead-beat control system is adopted for most systems however it requires complex mathematical calculations, the high performance microprocessors are mandatory and thus it can be a cause of high manufacturing cost. In this paper the new control method for average current mode control is presented for simple structure. The control algorithm is applied to the single phase system and then expands to three phase system to meet the sysem requirements. The mathematical modeling using average modeling method is presented and analysed by PSIM computer simulation to verifie the validity of the proposed control methods.
