Strategies for Promoting the Korean Jazz Club (한국 재즈 클럽의 활성화 방안)

  • The roots of modern popular music have evolved from blues and jazz music. But now, due to various multimedia developments and the expansion of the online industry, these traditional music is gradually being shunned by the public. When measuring a nation's cultural scale, it does not value only a few genres of popular music. In many advanced countries, music, which has basic artistic value, is trying to support and grow more base expansion in government and businesses, and to meet the needs of consumers. At this time, local jazz and jazz clubs are gradually losing ground, out of dance, rock and ballad music. Everyone should recognize that it is not just a genre of music that is alienated from the trend of the times, but an important part of cultural art that we should develop and nurture systematically. And it should be handled by more media and recognized by the public. Although it is a small market, this paper analyzes the development of jazz music in Korea and various factors that jazz clubs can establish as part of the music industry through analysis of Korean jazz clubs. The artistry and popularity of jazz music, the development of music education programs, the revitalization of government-led performances and the operation of concert halls differentiated from those of broadcasting media will eventually lead to the development of jazz clubs due to the rise of many jazz music lovers. It is also hoped that through the direction of development, we will be able to succeed as a major part of pop culture.

  • This study aimed to provide an overview of artificial intelligence based music composition programs. The artificial intelligence-based composition program has shown remarkable growth as the development of deep neural network theory and the improvement of big data processing technology. Accordingly, artificial intelligence based composition programs for composing classical music and pop music have been proposed variously in academia and industry. But there are several limitations: devaluation in general populations, missing valuable materials, lack of relevant laws, technology-led industries exclusive to the arts, and so on. When effective measures are taken against these limitations, artificial intelligence based technology will play a significant role in fostering national competitiveness.

The Rise and Fall of Television Musical Variety Show in Korea : Focusing on the 'Show Show Show' on TBC-TV (한국 텔레비전 음악버라이어티쇼의 성쇠 -TBC-TV의 '쇼쇼쇼'를 중심으로-)

  • This paper deals with how Korean television musical variety show rose and declined focusing the 'Show Show Show'. 'Show Show Show' was a Korean television musical variety show that ran on TBC-TV every Saturday night at 8pm. until TBC-TV was absorbed into KBS-TV in 1980. Its musical acts, of various kinds, were interspersed with comic turns and special items including dancing, mime, magic, and acrobat. Korean television musical variety show worked on what audiences had in common across generational divides till the late 1970s. 'Show Show Show's catchall format didn't cross the demographic lines like it used to. But the young generation demanded music program that spoke to their own condition in the early 1980s. 'Show Show Show' ended on KBS-TV in July 1983 through the influence of the absorption of TBC-TV into KBS-TV and the changes of cultural circumstances. The decline of the television musical variety show was attributable to the fragmentation of musical taste and the change of viewing behaviors.

  • 본 논문에서는 실용음악학과를 지원하는 수험생들의 입시준비교육기관인 실용음악학원의 교육과정과 실태에 대하여 기술한다. 또한 영리 목적의 대형 실용음악학원들의 입시 프로그램과 다양한 세부전공 수험생들의 보편적 전략을 비교함으로써 입학 후 실기 곡 위주의 입시교육으로 인해 발생할 수 있는 신입생들의 전공실기 이수능력문제와 대학의 실용음악교육과정 운영상의 문제점을 분석한다. 아울러 일관성 있는 심화교육을 위하여 실용음악학원과 대학 상호간의 교육프로그램 연계와 실용음악학원의 단계별 입시프로그램을 제안하고자 한다.

Cognitive Frame of the Expert on Musically Talented in the Pop Music Audition Program (대중가요 오디션 프로그램에서 음악영재에 대한 전문가들의 인지프레임 분석)

  • The purpose of this study is to analysis the cognitive frame of the expert on musically talented in the Pop music audition program. Consequently, this article found that each expert has difference priority. Myself(PA), voice(YA), tune(YO) are used frequently. In comparison with standard frame, all experts refer to creative area in priority. But, they lack in motive area. Also, there are areas which don't treat in standard frame. And to conclude, pop music audition program has creative and personal characteristic. If not, it doesn't give prominence to differentiated messages and last in the global market. Based on the result of this study, this paper suggests the following: Firstly, it needs devices that support areas which fall short of selection. Secondly, it requires new frame which modifies the details of standard frame.

  • This thesis urges the change of the education system of popular music for globalization of K-POP in a longer point of view Korean popular music has developed not only musically but also sound quality itself. Moreover it became popular in a global scale in the name of K-POP. However, it is still limited to idol music, and numerous issues related to the lack of musical talent are emerging Even though the routine of birth and death of several idol groups and singers are still repeated. Recently, the skills of artists enhanced due to audition TV shows but still it's not enough. Under this situation, it is not appropriate to rely on audition TV shows and Entertainment Management companies for picking up talented artists. Therefore, like Classic or Traditional music, schools concentrated for popular music must be founded. If this become enabled, young students going to entertainment companies or to unqualified but expensive private institutes will disappear. Moreover, it can prevent students from lacking behind in their academic activity. In addition, a reformation should be done education colleges for raising popular music educators

Transmedia and Sungkyunkwan University (DAW 소프트웨어의 UI가 대중음악 창작에 미치는 영향 - Pro Tools의 Edit Window 중심으로)

  • Among various tools for pop music composition, what is most frequently used by K-Pop composers is the digital sequencer program, or DAW software (Digital Audio Workstation). When it comes to making commercial music such as K-Pop, the proportion of using these programs is extremely high. By using those software, composers come to undergo an entirely different art creation process. User interface (UI) of the DAW software has a profound effect on the process of making music, particularly vis-a-vis usability and visibility. This study is an attempt to analyze the Avid Pro Tool's UI with a focus on its inherent characteristics revealed in relation with the real effect throughout music composition. This study categorizes the UI elements in the Edit Window of the Pro Tools as Grid, Track, Slip, Clip, and Fade. Those categorized elements would be analyzed through Douglas Morgan's Creative-Process theory, thereby clarifying how visual interface of the DAW software functions in music composition practically.

  • The appearance of the computer composition system(MIDI) expects that non-musicians can make musics easily, but, in fact, non-musicians still compose hard. This thesis shows that a computer makes lord progress through a database, which in-putted all practicable cord progress. In other words, non-musicians just makes some melodies over the settled cord progress, so they can make a music more easely.

  • 본 연구에서 미디어의 생산과 소비가 어떻게 사람들을 리미널한 형태로 사람들을 끌어들이는지 살펴보았다. 즉 미디어 생산의 주체 혹은 인기 있는 프로그램의 미디어 소비는 급격한 의식의 이탈을 만들어낸다. 2011년에 시작한 프로그램, '나는 가수다' 이후 지상파, 종합편성, 케이블채널에 음악프로그램, 특히 대중가요 중심의 노래 프로그램들이 대거 만들어졌다. 현재 큰 인기를 끌고 있는 '판타스틱 듀오'와 '나는 가수다' 속에 들어있는 제의적 속성인 리미널러티현상을 반 게넵(Arnold van Gennep)의 '통과의례'에 나타나는 전이 단계와 빅터 터너(Victor Turner)의 이론을 토대로 분석하였다. '전이'의 단계에 제의의 주체들은 사회적인 지위나 문화적인 상태의 속성들을 거의 가지고 있지 않은 일종의 사회적인 중간상태(social limbo)를 통과하게 된다. 미디어 이벤트로서의 리미널러티, 시청자, 가수와 도전자, 청중평가단의 일체감으로 일어나는 인지, 정서적 느낌과 그로 인한 코뮤니타스, 반구조((anti-structure) 상태를 분석하였다. 그리고 그 이후에 오는 위로와 위안 그리고 공감으로 이어지는 사회문화적 현상을 살펴보았다.

  • 한류 문화를 비롯해 방송사들에서 시행하는 각종 오디션 프로그램들로 인해 대중음악계가 상당히 부각되고 있다. 이러한 가요계의 발전과 더불어 가수가 되고자 하는 지망생들이 급격히 증가하였는데, 아직은 이들을 가르치고 훈련을 받을 수 있는 교육적인 여건이 미비하다. 본 논문은 가수지망생, 즉 보컬이 기복적으로 갖추어야 할 호흡과 발성법에 관한 논문이다. 호흡과 발성은 노래를 잘하기 위한 과정이지만, 노래를 잘하기에 앞서 목소리를 크게 만들고 라이브 공연 시 목소리를 안정적으로 내기 위한 필수적인 요건이다. 명성에 비해 라이브 실력이 부족한 가수들을 흔히 볼 수 있는데 이것이 모두 호흡과 발성훈련을 소홀히 해서 생긴 결과이다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 크고, 안정적인 목소리를 만들기 위한 발성훈련 방법에 대해 알아보는 논문이다.
