부산점토의 특성 : 조간대 퇴적층의 대자율

  • 낙동강 삼각주의 분포하는 제4기 홀로세 퇴적층 중 북부와 중부, 그리고 남부지역에 해당하는 가덕도 (신항만 조성지역), 범방리 (경마장 조성지역), 양산 (신도시 조성지역)의 조간대 퇴적층에 대한 대자율 연구를 수행하였다. 퇴적층의 층위별 대자율은 입도와 관입저항에 비례하여 대자율도 증가한다. 가덕도의 70여m의 퇴적층 중 20m, 40m의 점토층에서 대자율 변화가 나타나는데 인접한 녹산지역의 연구견과와 비교하면 고환경이 변화되는 지점과 일치한다. 삼각주의 중부에 위치하는 범방리 점토시료는 기반암까지 층위별 대자율이 일정하며, 북부의 양산지역 점토시료는 하부로 갈수록 대자율이 증가하는데 이러한 결과는 시료의 입도 분포와 같은 양상이다. 가덕도 시료와는 달리 모든 점토층이 유사한 대자율을 보여주고 있어 퇴적 동안 환경의 변화는 인지되지 않는다. 이 지역의 시료가 가덕도에 비해 높은 고도에 위치하여 가덕도 시료의 상부 점토에 해당되는 것도 환경변화가 나타나지 않는 이유가 될 수 있다. 따라서 보다 광범위한 지역에 대한 연구가 요구 된다.

The Relationship between Climate Change and Magnetic Susceptibility of Estuarine Sediments (하구역 퇴적물의 대자율 변화와 기후변화의 연관성)

  • This study intended to explain the relationship between climate change and magnetic susceptibility of estuarine sediment. Data of OSL dating and magnetic susceptibility from estuarine tidal sediment were compared with various climate change data. During the last Holocene, the intense of magnetic susceptibility related with weaker Siberian High and stronger Asian Summer Monsoon. It is explained that high precipitation and runoff made much fluvial sediment input to the estuary. From the early to mid Holocene, there is no clear relationship between climate change and MS because of the much coastal sediment input caused by rapid sea level rise and the formation of upland soil and coastal marsh. These results contribute to reconstruct paleo-environmental changes of west coast of Korea, in the way of using benefit of ubiquitous estuarine tidal flats and relatively useful magnetic susceptibility methodoloy.

Magnetic Susceptibility and Petrochemical Compositions of Mesozoic Granites in Korea (국내 중생대 화강암의 대자율 특성과 화학조성)

  • By relating mineralogy, petrology and geochemistry to observed magnetic properties, an understanding of the geological factors that control magnetic signatures is obtained. Magnetic susceptibility measurements and geochemical analyses were carried out for 160 samples in the Jurassic to Cretaceous granitoids, which is distributed to Pocheon, Jipori, Geumsan, Namwon, Songnisan, Yongdam, Masan, Jindong, and Taebaeksan areas. The magnetic properties of igneous infusion in these granites reflect bulk rock composition, reduction-oxidation state, hydrothermal alteration which are controlled by tectonic setting, composition and history of the source region, depth of emplacement and nature of wall rocks.

  • 살내 유적지의 발굴조사에서 지질물리학에 기초한 연구방법과 적용성을 검토하고자 발굴과 아울러 지구물리탐사를 실시하였다. 심도에 따라 구분한 전기비저항에서 토양 구성물질의 차이에 의한 전기비저항의 변화와 퇴적물의 공급방향을 유추할 수 있다. 지하레이더탐사의 반사단면에서 퇴적층의 분급과 입도에 따라 구분되는 층리의 경계를 규명할 수 있는데, 실트의 구성비가 높은 지층들의 반사면은 측방 연장성이 좋은 반면 자갈의 구성비가 높은 지층의 반사면들은 불규칙한 기복을 보여준다. 지층 반사면의 형태로부터 고환경의 정보를 획득할 수 있는데, 살래유적지의 경우 문화층은 세립의 실트와 모래와 우세한 지층에 해당하며 층서에서 자갈층의 반복과 지층 경사는 퇴적물의 공급에 관련되는 고수계의 위치와 하천의 지속적으로 범람하는 환경을 지시한다. 주거 유적지의 대자율탐사에서 유적지 경계부의 토양은 주변에 비해 낮은 대자율을 가진다. 대자율 이상대를 형성하는 토양은 주거지 내부에 한정되며 이들은 황색계열의 토색으로 소성에 의한 것으로 추정된다.

Integration and Periodicity of Magnetic Susceptibility Data on Estuarine Tidal Sediment (하구역 간석지 퇴적물 대자율의 통합과 주기성 검토)

  • This study examined the Holocene environmental changes by OSL dating and magnetic susceptibility (MS) in 12 sediment cores from estuarine tidal flat, Mosan Bay Estuary, west coast of Korea. For the complexity of the geomorphic characteristics of estuaries, it is difficult to obtain a series of data. The following significant results were derived using relatively simple methods. First, MS data shows sensitive changes in pattern according to the precipitation change during mid to late Holocene. Second, MS data show periodicity of 250 yr. when they were wavelet transformed. This periodicity is related with the intensifying of solar intensity, the East Asian Summer Monsoon and ENSO. Thus, MS data from estuarine sediments are valuable data which can explain mechanism of climate change in East Asia and worthy as proxy data.

  • Multi-proxy analysis was used to produce a high-resolution paleoclimatic record from a thick section of the Holocene alluvial fan deposit in Gatap-ri, Buyeo. According to ${\delta}^{13}C$ analyses, five minor climate fluctuations can be determined. From the stage I to stage VI, climate changes are as follows: cool-dry, warm-humid, cool-dry, warm humid, drier than stage IV, and finally more humid environment than stage V. According to magnetic susceptibility records, four different stages can be identified, among which stage ii shows the highest susceptibility. Stage-i deposit is derived from sediments of back marsh-type wetland. Stage-ii and stage-iii deposits, however, show higher magnetic susceptibility because magnetite-enriched soil from weathered upland was transported to the area to form an alluvial fan deposits. Stage-iv deposit is comparable to the modern plow horizon.

Palaeomagnetism of the Okchon Belt, Korea : Anisotropy of Magnetic Susceptibility (AMS) and Deformation of the Hwanggangri Formation in Chumgju-Suanbo Area (옥천대에 대한 고자기 연구:충주-수안보 일원 황강리층의 변형과 대자율 비등방성(AMS))

  • We report the results of structural field observation and measurement of anisotropy of magnetic susceptibility (AMS) of the diamictitic Hwanggangri Formation distributed in Chungju-Suanbo area of the Okchon Belt, Korea. The outcrops of the Hwanggangri Formation show two types of cleavage in general: slaty cleavage (SI) and crenulation cleavage (5z). 5] cleavage is, however, well observable only in the notheastem (NE) part of study area, while overwhelmed by 52 cleavage in the southwestern (5W) part, indicating stronger later deformation in 5W part of the study area. This partitioning of the study area is corroborated by both IRM and AMS parameters: NE part of the study area is characterized by higher IRM intensity, higher bulk magnetic susceptibility, higher AM5 degree, and by oblate shape of magnetic susceptibility ellipsoid. Their values become drastically lowered toward southwest, and reach to a stable minimum in the whole 5W part of the study area. In addition, degree of both metamorphism and deformation tends to increase gradually from northeast toward southwest and also from northwest toward southeast in the study area. Based on the distribution pattern of the principal axes ( $k_1, k_2, k_3$ axes) of magnetic anisotropy ellipsoids revealed in the NE part of the study area, three episodes of deformation ( $D_1, D_2, D_3$ ) are recognized: D_1$ deformation produced $S_2$ cleavage with NE-5W trend, which is caused by a strong NW-SE tlattening of a coaxial pure shear. $D_2$ deformation produced 5z cleavage characterized by a non-coaxial deformation. It was caused by a ductile or semi-ductile thrusting toward NW and concurrent sinistral shearing along $S_2$ cleavage plane. Lastly, $D_3$ deformation produced tlexural folding of all previous structures with a nearly horizontal NE fold axis. Distribution pattern of the principal axes of magnetic anisotropy ellipsoid from the SW part of the study area, on the other hand, does not show any coherency among sites or samples. We interpret that this dispersed pattern of $k_1, k_2, k_3$ axes together with lower anisotropy strength indicates that magnetic fabrics in the SW part have been disturbed either by a superposition of strong deformation/metamorphism or by a kind of reciprocal strain due to an overlapping of $D_1$ and $D_2$ or by both processes.
