Heavy Rainfall event accompanying with Mesoscale Convective Systems(MCSs) inducing flash flooding and Muan and Kunsan Airport closing over Jeollabuk-do area was investigated this study. Comparing to previous study(I), this heavy rainfall event was characterized by much abundant moisture from Typhoon, strong conditional convective instability, and cluster type MCSs. It almost impossible to make accurate forecasting of precipitation amounts and life cycle of MCSs unless proper analysis.

This paper describes a measuring apparatus that can be used to appraise the effectiveness of nanofluids as new heat-transfer-enhancing fluids. A couple of apparatuses using fine hot wires as sensors have been proposed for this purpose; however, they have a technical weakness related to the uncertain working conditions of the sensor. The present method uses the convective heat transfer coefficient from a hot wire as an indication of the heat transfer effectiveness of the nanofluid, where the temperature of the wire remains constant during the experiment. The operating principle and experimental procedure are explained in detail, and the validity of the system is tested with pure base fluids. The effects of particle concentration, velocity, and temperature on the heat transfer coefficients of the nanofluids are discussed comprehensively using the experimental data for graphite nanolubrication oil.

When a crystal is grown by FZ process, the melt zone is located at between the solid of upper and lower side and is kept by the solid-liquid interface tension. On the surface of the melt zone, a surface tension gradient is occured by the difference of temperature and solute concentration, it is the driving force of marangoni flow. The crystal even in the steady state growth can become imperfect for the dislocation distribution and the solute concentration in the peripheral region of the crystal are higher than those in the inner part and the probability of the formation of the defects such as voids, bubble penetration, secondary phase creation and crack is high near the solid-liquid interface. This is because the solid -liquid interface becomes irregular because of the local variation of temperature in that region due to marangoni convection.
This study has been conducted experimentally on the effects of natural convection heat transfer characteristics for inclined flat plate with vertical fin in air. The effects of various fin length, flat plate inclined angle and Grashof number are mainly investigated The experimented results are as follows: The mean heat transfer coefficient increase according to the decrease of H/S in the various fin lengh. The mean heat transfer coefficient at H/S-0.5, 1.0, 1.5 for Gr=2.11$\times$103. $\theta$=00 increase by 107%, 43%, 15% than H/S=2.0. The mean heat transfer coefficient decrease with the increase of $\theta$ the inclined angles. The mean heat transfer coefficient at Gr=2.97$\times$103 is constant, at $\theta$= 00 for H/S=0.5 decrease by 33% than $\theta$=90$^{\circ}$. The mean heat transfer coefficient increase as Grashof as Grashof number increase. The mean heat transfer coefficient at Gr=2.31$\times$103, Gr=2.61$\times$103, Gr=2.97$\times$103 for H/S=1.0, $\theta$=0$^{\circ}$increase by 9%, 16%, 28% than Gr=2.11$\times$103.
We examine the effects of El Ni$\tilde{n}$o on tropospheric ozone through the simulation of a Climate-Chemistry model for a 40-year period (1971-2010). The Empirical Orthogonal Function (EOF) analysis reveals that the tropospheric ozone concentration in the central-eastern Pacific decreases when the El Ni$\tilde{n}$o occurs, which is consistent with the observation. However, the increase of ozone over Indian Ocean-Indonesia regions is weak in the simulation compared to the observations. We analyze details of the 2006 El Ni$\tilde{n}$o event to understand the mechanism that caused the change of ozone due to El Ni$\tilde{n}$o. It is found that enhanced convection as well as higher water vapor followed by shortened lifetime has led to lower the tropospheric ozone. Downward motion induced by the changes of atmospheric circulation due to sea surface temperature forcing, together with the decrease of water vapor, has brought ozone produced in the upper troposphere over the Indian Ocean.

This paper shows effects of tropospheric delay models and mapping functions among delay features occurred when GPS code signal is transferred for GPS Time Transfer. GPS time transfer uses CGGTTS as the international standard format. For geodetic GPS receiver, ROB has provided r2cggtts software which generates CGGTTS data from RINEX data and all laboratories participated in TAI link use this software and send the CGGTTS results periodically. Though Saastamoinen zenith path model and Niell mapping function are commonly used in space geodesy, r2cggtts software applied NATO zenith path model and CHAO mapping function to the tropospheric delay model. Hence, this paper shows effects of two tropospheric delay models by implementing Saastamoinen model and Niell mapping function for the time offset.
The electrochemical corrosion and passivation of Co-RDE in borate buffer solution was studied by Potentiodynamic and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. The mechanisms of both the active dissolution and passivation of cobalt and the hydrogen evolution in reduction reaction were hypothetically established while utilizing the Tafel slope, the rotation speed of Co-RDE, impedance data and the pH dependence of corrosion potential. Based on the EIS data, an equivalent circuit was suggested. In addition, the electrochemical parameters for specific anodic dissolution regions were carefully measured. An induction loop in Nyquist plot measured at the open-circuit potential was observed in the low frequency, and this could be attributed to the adsorption-desorption behavior in the corrosion process.

This paper presents a numerical study conducted for analyzing the effect of the Prandtl number on natural convection in a square enclosure with an inner circular cylinder in various positons. Several Prandtl numbers (Pr = 0.1, 0.7, and 7) and Rayleigh numbers (Ra = $10^3$, $10^4$ and $10^5$) are considered in the numerical study, along with different positions of the inner circular cylinder. The position of the inner circular cylinder is changed in steps of 0.1 in the range of -0.2 to 0.2. The effect of the Prandtl number on natural convection in the enclosure is analyzed on the basis of the thermal and flow fields and the distribution of the Nusselt number. Regardless of the position of the cylinder, when the Rayleigh number is $10^5$, the surface-averaged Nusselt number of the inner cylinder and the enclosure increases as the Prandtl number increases.
To better understand how high-latitude electric fields influence thermospheric dynamics, winds in the high-latitude lower thermosphere are studied by using the Thermosphere-ionosphere Electrodynamics General Circulation Model developed by the National Conte. for Atmospheric Research (NCAR-TIEGCM). The model is run for the conditions of 1992-1993 southern summer. The association of the model results with the interplanetary magnetic field(IMF) is also examined to determine the influences of the IMF-dependent ionospheric convection on the winds. The wind patterns show good agreement with the WINDII observations, although the model wind speeds are generally weaker than the observations. It is confirmed that the influences of high-latitude ionospheric convection on summertime thermospheric winds are seen down to 105 km. The difference wind, the difference between the winds for IMF$\neq$O and IMF=0, during negative IMF $B_y$ shows a strong anticyclonic vortex while during positive IMF $B_y$ a strong cyclonic vortex down to 105 km. For positive IMF $B_z$ the difference winds are largely confined to the polar cap, while for negative IMF B, they extend down to subauroral latitudes. The IMF $B_z$ -dependent diurnal wind component is strongly correlated with the corresponding component of ionospheric convection velocity down to 108 km and is largely rotational. The influence of IMF by on the lower thermospheric summertime zonal-mean zonal wind is substantial at high latitudes, with maximum wind speeds being $60\;ms^-1$ at 130 km around $77^{\circ}$ magnetic latitude.

In this paper, an experimental investigation is performed to estimate the thermal performance of a natural convective heat sink with plate fins subject to the uniform wall temperature condition. Extensive experiments are performed with various input powers, fin spacings, and heights of the natural convective heat sinks with plate fins. In particular, the effect of the inclination angle on the thermal performance of the heat sink is studied. In order to validate the experimental data, the experimental results are compared with results from previous studies. Based on the experimental results, the appropriate ranges of the previous correlations between the input power, the fin spacing, the fin height, and the inclination angle for the natural convective heat sink with plate fins are evaluated.
