This study examined the granite, quartzite, phyllite, schist, and gneiss as aggregate resources among the original rock distributed in the Chungju-Goesan area. The granite distributed in the study area is mainly composed of Jurassic biotite granite, and the quartzite layer is from the Daehyangsan quartzite Formation distributed on the upper part of the Gyemyeongsan Formation and the Hyangsan-ri dolomitic limestone Formation. In addition, phyllite is pophyrytic phyllite-schist from the Hwanggangri Formation of the Okcheon group, schist is chlorite schist, from the Munjuri Formation of the Okcheon group, and gneiss is porphyroblastic gneiss which is the upper part of the Seochangri Formation. Aggregate quality evaluation factors of these rocks included fineness modulus, absorption, unit weight, absolute dry density, solid content, porosity, resistance to abrasion, and soundness. In the case of granite, it was found to be partially unsatisfactory in terms of unit weight, solid content, porosity, and resistance to abrasion. Gneiss was found to be out of the standard values in resistance to abrasion and schist in porosity and solid content. As for the overall quality of aggregate resources, it was analyzed that quartzite, gneiss, and phyllite showed excellent quality. Aggregate quality tests are performed simply for each rock, but the rock may vary depending on the morphology of the mineral. Therefore, when analyzing and utilizing the quality evaluation of aggregate resources, it will be possible to use them more efficiently if the rock-mineralological research is performed together.

It is estimated that over 2 million tons of non-ferrous wastes are generated after refining. Up to now, most researches were focused on extracting precious metals and there were very few research on the utilization of the slag byproduct. In this study, we studied to evaluate whether copper slag could be used as aggregates in concrete. Fresh mortar were evaluated on the particle size and replacement ratio of the copper slag with river-sand. Experimental results indicated that flow, air content and drying shrinkage of concrete varied with particle size, which confirmed that proper classification of copper slag is very important. And, setting time and unit weight of the concrete increased with replacement ratio. When particle size of the slag was similar to the river-sand, concrete with copper slag showed slump, air content, setting time, drying shrinkage and unit weight became larger compared to the concrete using river-sand only. Therefore, it is believed that proper classification and replacement ratio should be optimized for the effective use of slag in concrete.

In this study, the engineering characteristics of outer wall insulation panels according to type of insulation materials, their combination, and the contents of insulation materials were tested. Vermiculate, ceramic bead, perlite and expanded polystyrene were used as insulation materials. Flexural strength and thermal conductivity depending on the insulation materials used were measured. It was found that the flow of fresh mortar significantly decreased with an increase in the contents of insulation materials. In terms of the effect of insulation materials on thermal conductivity, an increase in insulation materials resulted in a decrease of thermal conductivity. In particular, PL and EPS, when used together, have lower thermal conductivity than other materials. Regarding the flexural strength of the hardened mortar, the strength showed a tendency to gradually decrease according to the increase in contents of insulation materials, compared to that of the plain mortar. In terms of the flexural strength depending on various types of insulation materials and its combination, it was found that the flexural strength of cement mortar containing 3% of vermiculate(V)+ceramic bead(CB)+perlite(PL) was the highest among the specimens tested.

This study is focused on applying heavyweight concrete to ballast used to have stability of a ship. Generally, heavyweight concrete is made from a high density aggregate like magnetite or limonite. However, these materials are hard to obtain them from relevant companies and so expensive. Therefore, this study plans to product heavyweight ballast concrete which is easy to obtain by recycled iron slag. Heavyweight ballast concrete isn't required to meet some compressive strength in use, but it is required to have high flowable and 2.7t/m3 of bulk density to fill the ballast tank densely. The designed field mix proportion of concrete based on the results of pre-experiment shows it can control the temperature crack and has superior chloride corrosion resistance after conducting chloride corrosion experiment. Also, it is prefer that before airtightness voltile corrosion inhibiter(VCI) is added in airtight space of shipyard.

The purpose of this experimental research is to suggest a base data to utilize the fine sand of Nakdong-River actively as an alternative aggregate for concrete. For this purpose, after the typical fine sand samples were collected at the mid stream and down stream of main stream of Nakdong-River, the physical properties of them and the mix characteristics of concrete using those were estimated. As a result, it was observed from the test result that mix characteristics between concrete using fine sand and concrete using well-graded reference sand made little differences since unit water content and unit cement content of concrete using fine sand increased only a little than those of concrete using reference sand for specified compressive strength.

This study investigated the fundamental properties of the lightweight foamed concrete depending on various admixtures, and the results were summarized as following. When 20% of cement kiln dust(CKD) and 0.002% of stabilizing agent were mixed to lightweight foamed concrete, it was necessary to use a superplasticizer because flowability was decreased. However, it could reduce sinking depth which were the extensive trouble of lightweight foamed concrete. Bulk density was divided into '0.4' and '0.5' grades on KS according to unit volume weight. The compressive strength was less than that of plain concrete when admixtures were applied, but the results exceeded the minimum strength of the each grades on KS. Totally, it is found that the combination of 20% of CKD and 0.002% of stabilizing agent makes it possible to reduce a sinking depth, recycle resources, and save cost when were mixed.

Currently, research on construction materials using industrial by-products is being conducted in the Inhan construction industry due to CO2 emissions during the cement production process and a shortage of aggregates. Among these, research has been conducted to use steel furnace slag as an aggregate by reducing the reactivity of free-CaO, which has the characteristic of expanding through open storage, aging, and rapid cooling. However, research on the use of powder as a cement admixture or substitute is insufficient. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the properties of fresh mortar using steel furnace slag powder. The mixing ratio of steel furnace slag powder was divided into three levels: 0, 20, and 40 (%), and the test items were flow and unit weight. The experimental results showed that as the mixing ratio of steel furnace slag powder increased, flow and unit weight tended to increase. Therefore, it is expected to have a positive effect on improving workability or strength as a cement admixture.

When the water content within concrete swells, diverse problems occur such as drop in durability. Due to this reason, a change is being managed in the unit water contents by using electric capacity measurements, high frequency heating methods, and unit-volume mass measurements, which are methods of measuring the unit water contents. Particularly, Japan is prescribing the guideline of management on a change in unit water content unit quantity $({\pm}10,\;15,\;20kg//m^3,\;etc.)$. However, the guideline of Japan dose not consider a fall in durability, and is decided on the value of pass-fail criteria by random fabrication errors and measurement errors. Consequently, this study was aimed to investigate the influence of a change In water content within concrete due to an addend caused by management error and to an artificial addend, upon drop in durability.

Concrete is a representative heterogeneous material and mechanical properties of concrete are influenced by various factors. Due to the fact that pores in concrete affect determining compressive strength of concrete, studies which deal with distribution and magnitudes of pores are very important. That way, studies using picture imaging have been emerged. Studies on mechanical performance evaluation of structural lightweight foamed concrete and FEM analysis based on picture image are inadequate because lightweight foamed concrete has been researched for only non-structural. Therefore, in this study, cement paste with foaming agent to evaluate mechanical performance is made, FEM analysis with picture image is conducted and young's modulus of experiment and analysis are compared. In this study, dosage of foaming agent is determined 7 level to check pore distribution and water-binder ratio is determined 20% to progress research about structural light weight foamed concrete. Weight of unit volume is minimum at 0.8% of foaming agent dosage. However, weight of unit volume is increased over 0.8% of foaming agent dosage because of interconnection with independent pores. For FEM analysis, cement paste is photographed to use image analyzer(HF-MA C01). Consequently, the fact that Young's Modulus of experiment and FEM analysis are same is drawn by using OOF(Object Oriented Finite elements).

The compressive strength test, bulk density and mortar absorption ratio were carried out to utilize the data as the basic sources for the lightweight mortar and the lightweight concrete, through the study on the physical characteristics of the artificial lightweight aggregate (ALA) made of waste glasses, which was developed for the first time in the country. On the basis of these experiments, the density and the unit volume weight of the ALA showed the value less than 50% of the common aggregate due to the independent pore structure, and the mortar that contains ALA had no big difference from the Control mortar in the test of the absorption ratio. It is judged that this happens based on the internal independent pore structure of the ALA. In case of the mortar containing ALA, there was a tendency of declination in the compressive strength and the bending strength as the mixing rate is increasing, but all mortar showed more than 70% of the Control mortar compressive strength except for the La50 mortar. Hereafter, it is judged that according to the control of the mixing ratio of mineral admixing agent, water and cement, it will realize the equal strength to the control mortar, and the long term edurance is needed to be considered together.
