Improving Multinomial Naive Bayes Text Classifier (다항시행접근 단순 베이지안 문서분류기의 개선)

  • Though naive Bayes text classifiers are widely used because of its simplicity, the techniques for improving performances of these classifiers have been rarely studied. In this paper, we propose and evaluate some general and effective techniques for improving performance of the naive Bayes text classifier. We suggest document model based parameter estimation and document length normalization to alleviate the Problems in the traditional multinomial approach for text classification. In addition, Mutual-Information-weighted naive Bayes text classifier is proposed to increase the effect of highly informative words. Our techniques are evaluated on the Reuters21578 and 20 Newsgroups collections, and significant improvements are obtained over the existing multinomial naive Bayes approach.

  • 캐릭터 애니메이션 기술의 발달로 가상공간에 애니메이트되는 캐릭터의 수가 점점 증가되고 있으며, 캐릭터 자체 골격구조의 관절 개수와 캐릭터를 덮고 있는 메쉬의 폴리곤 개수도 점점 증가하는 추세이다. 따라서, 실시간 가상환경에서 다수의 캐릭터를 전처리 과정 없이 시뮬레이션할 경우 전체 군중시스템 성능의 저하가 예상된다. 본 논문에서는, 이러한 문제점을 해결하기 위해 모션 다단계(motion level-of-detail) 기법을 제시한다. 모션 단순화 기법은 캐릭터의 움직임을 제어하는 골격(관절)구조와 캐릭터의 형태를 시각적으로 표현하는 기하(메쉬)구조를 단순화 하는 방법으로 기존 동작과 단순화된 동작의 차이를 최소화 한다. 골격구조 단순화를 위한 JPC(joint posture clustering)방법은 특정 관절의 연속된 모션 시퀀스에서의 유사 자세 집단을 추출하여 하나의 자세로 표현하는 방법으로, 모션의 특성에 따라 동적으로 관절을 단순화하여 관절 시뮬레이션 시간을 줄이는 방법이다. JPC방법은 골격구조가 시간에 따라 동적으로 변형되기 때문에 골격구조의 계층구조를 재 구축할 시간이 필요하지만, 기존 동작과 유사성을 잃지 않는 단순화된 동작 생성이 가능하다. 유사 자세 집단을 추출하기 위해 전체 모션 시퀀스에서 관절의 프레임간 자세 차이를 수식화하여 테이블 형태로 구성하고 이를 통해 기존 동작의 유사성을 잃지 않으며 관절의 단순화 율을 최대화 할 수 있는 알고리즘을 제시한다. 또한, 실시간 군중 환경의 성능을 더욱 향상시키기 위해 시간에 따라 변형되는 캐릭터 메쉬의 단순화 기법을 적용한다. 실험결과 모션 다단계 기법은 실시간 군중환경에서 캐릭터의 수가 많고 복잡한 골격구조와 기하구조로 구성된 관절 궤적의 변화가 심하지 않은 동작에 대해 특히 효율적이다.

Study on Relationship among Simplicity/Complexity, Balance and Consumer Preference of Product (심미적 영향요소인 단순/복잡, 균형 그리고 선호도에 관한 연구)

  • This research aimed at a clear definition of simplicity and complexity and other elements of product aesthetics and investigated the influence of simplicity/complexity on consumer preference, and balance. The research also made it an objective to find answers to underlying questions of whether there is a relationship between simplicity/complexity, and balance, and if there is, then how is the relationship? and is balance in a product's aesthetics an influential factor? does a relationship exist between consumer preference, simplicity/complexity, and balance? In conclusion, the research process categorized products into groups by use of FCB Grid, and analyze4 each group to establish a prototype which represents the group, then questionnaires where presented to consumers in order to find satisfaction to consumer preference. Also, the research proposes a verification method through design process.

Hybrid Polyline Simplification for GIS Vector Map Data Compression (GIS 벡터맵 데이터 압축을 위한 혼합형 폴리라인 단순화)

  • This paper presents a GIS vector map data compression scheme based on hybrid polyline simplification method and SEC(spatial energy compaction). The proposed method extracts all layers which contain polylines in the GIS vector map and compress all polylines in extracted layers by the hybrid polyline simplification and SEC based on MAE(minimum area error) for each segment in the line. The proposed simplification and SEC increase the compression ratio while preserving the shape quality. We analyze the visual aspects and compression efficiency between the original GIS vector map and the compressed map. From experimental results, we verify that our method has the higher compression efficiency and visual quality than conventional methods.

  • 외부 데이터가 진료병원 Server에 저장됨에 있어서 판독을 의뢰하지 않을 경우, 대부분의 병원이 무상으로 이루어 지고 있는 상황이며 이에 외부 데이터 단순 import의 효율적인 관리를 위한 수가 적용 여부를 검토하였다. 2007년 3월부터 4월까지 서울 경기 지역의 PACS가 도입 된지 1년 이상, 병상 수 500Bed 이상의 종합 대학병원 25곳에 근무하는 각 병원의 PACS 운영실 및 PACS 관리자를 대상으로 하였다. 외부 데이터에 관한 10가지 항목의 설문지를 작성하여 각 병원의 PASC 담당자 및 관리자를 대상으로 E-mail을 이용한 자기 기입 방식, 전화를 통한 질의응답 방식으로 조사하였다. 조사된 25개의 종합 대학병원의 96%이상이 외부 데이터 단순 import를 지원하고 있었으며, 그 중 92%의 병원은 무상으로 이루어지고 있었다. 이와 같이 진행 되는 부분에 대하여 각 병원의 PACS 담당자 70% 이상이 단순 import에 대한 수가 적용의 필요성을 느끼고 있으며, 현재 많은 병원에서 단순 import의 무상 지원으로 인한 문제점을 인식하고 있었다. K병원을 기준으로 단순 import에 년간 H/W 소요 비용은 336만원이고, 년간 인건비 소요비용은 421만원이다. 또한 단순 import 한 건당 평균 데이터 size는 48MB 정도로 조사되었다. 환자 입장에서 진료에 참고자료로 사용 될 외부 데이터의 정확한 저장과 정당한 PACS 사용을 위해서는 그에 상응하는 수가가 적용 되어야 할 것이다. 보험심사평가원 급여기준에 따라 수가적용이 인정되어 의료영상 디지털화로 인한 초기의 고액 투자비용 보장과 회수를 위해 단순 Import의 수가 적용이 반드시 필요하다고 사료 된다.

Categorical Variable Selection in Naïve Bayes Classification (단순 베이즈 분류에서의 범주형 변수의 선택)

  • $Na{\ddot{i}}ve$ Bayes Classification is based on input variables that are a conditionally independent given output variable. The $Na{\ddot{i}}ve$ Bayes assumption is unrealistic but simplifies the problem of high dimensional joint probability estimation into a series of univariate probability estimations. Thus $Na{\ddot{i}}ve$ Bayes classier is often adopted in the analysis of massive data sets such as in spam e-mail filtering and recommendation systems. In this paper, we propose a variable selection method based on ${\chi}^2$ statistic on input and output variables. The proposed method retains the simplicity of $Na{\ddot{i}}ve$ Bayes classier in terms of data processing and computation; however, it can select relevant variables. It is expected that our method can be useful in classification problems for ultra-high dimensional or big data such as the classification of diseases based on single nucleotide polymorphisms(SNPs).

Diagnostic Value of Thoracography in Pneumothorax (기흉에서 흉강조영술(Thoracography)의 진단적 가치)

  • Background: It is important to know the location, number, size and shape of bullae before thoracotomy or VATS bullectomy. Chest X-ray and chest CT may be used but with some limitation. The purpose of this study was to compare the diagnostic value of thoracography with that of chest X-ray in preoperative detection of bullae. Meterial and Method: Thoracography was performed by injection of non-ionic water-soluble dye into pleural space in 22 primary spontaneous pneumothoraces, which underwent thoracotomy or VATS bullectomy. Chest X-ray and thoracography were compared through operative finding. Results: Sensitivity and accuracy of thoracography(75% and 72.7%) were higher than those of chest X-ray(30% and 36.4%). However, specificity of thoracography(50%) was lower than that of chest X-ray (100%). There were no complications during or after thoracography. Conclusion: Thoracography is a safer and more useful method for preoperative detection of bullae when compared with chest X-ray.

Simplification of Boundary Representation Models Based on Stepwise Volume Decomposition (단계적 볼륨분해에 기반한 경계표현 모델의 단순화)

  • In this study, a method to apply feature-based simplification to boundary representation models is proposed. For feature-based simplification, a volume decomposition tree is created from a boundary representation model. The volume decomposition tree is represented by regularized Boolean operations of additive volumes, subtractive volumes, and fillet/round/chamfer volumes, and it is generated by stepwise volume decomposition, which consists of fillet/round/chamfer decomposition, wrap-around decomposition, volume split decomposition, and cell-based decomposition. After the volume decomposition tree is transformed to an infix expression, the CAD model can be simplified by reordering the volumes. To verify the proposed method, a prototype system was implemented, and experiments on test cases were conducted. From the results of the experiments, it is verified that the proposed method is useful for simplifying CAD models based on boundary representation.

Control of Bending Behavior of Simple Beams Using CTMD (CTMD의 질량비에 따른 단순보의 휨거동 제어효과)

  • The purpose of this study is to effectively mitigate the bending displacement that occurs in the bridge due to forced vibration. We developed CTMD (Combine Tuned Mass Damper) that combines the relationship between spring and mass to control the bending behavior of simple beams. The experiment was conducted to confirm the control effect according to the change in the mass ratio of the developed CTMD. The developed CTMD is designed and manufactured so that the mass ratio can be adjusted according to the characteristics of the bridge. The maximum load of the spring applied to CTMD was fixed at 33.15 N. In order to evaluate the performance of the developed CTMD, a simple beam composed of hinges and rollers as boundary conditions was fabricated. In the experimental method, a CTMD was installed in the center of a simple beam and the deflection displacement according to the mass ratio was measured. The shaking condition was shaken at 3 Hz to induce the maximum bending behavior of the simple beam. As a result of the experiment, it was confirmed that when the optimal mass ratio was 2.1, the damping rate of the bending behavior displacement was about 71.2 %, indicating the best control effect.

Accuracy evaluation of 2D inundation analysis results of simplified SWMM according to sewer network scale (하수관망 규모에 따른 단순화 SWMM에 대한 2차원 침수분석결과의 정확성 평가)

  • Constructing a reliable runoff model and reducing model runtime are important in research of real-time urban flood forecasting to reduce the repetitive flood damage. Sewer networks in the major urban basin such as Seoul are vast and complex so that it is not suitable for real-time urban flood forecasting. Therefore, the rainfall-runoff model should be simplified. However, the runoff results due to the simplification of sewer networks can vary depending on the subjectivity and simplification method of the researcher and there is a significant difference especially in 2-D inundation analysis. In this study, the sewer networks in various urban basins with different numbers and distributions of sewer networks were simplified to certain criteria. The accuracy of the simplification model according to the sewer network scale is evaluated by 2-D inundation analysis. The runoff models of Gwanak, Sillim, and Dorimcheon, frequently inundated basins were simplified based on four simplification ranges due to the cumulative drainage area set as a criterion for calculating the simplification range. This study will be expected that the inundation result of simplification models estimated through the analysis can contribute to the construction of a reasonable and accurate runoff model suitable for real-time flood forecasting.
