Computation of RCS and TES of Curved Objects Using a Curved-Patch Physical Optics Method (곡면패치 물리광학법을 이용한 곡면체의 RCS 및 TES 계산)

  • Prediction of ship's signature of RCS(Radar Cross Section) and TES(Target Echo Strength) is mostly required in the initial design stage of naval craft, because RCS is directly related to the radar detection while TES to the sonar detection. In this research, a numerical scheme using a curved-patch physical optics method is proposed to evaluate signature of a perfectly reflecting curved object. The scheme is validated by comparing numerical RCS values of circular cylinder, sphere and NACA3317 airfoil with available data. It is also further applied to predict RCS of a surfaced submarine and TES of fully submerged one. Major reflectors of the surfaced or submerged submarine for the various incident angles of radar and sonar waves are investigated as well.

Survival and Development of Porcine Embryos Produced in vitro Using Open Pulled Straw Methods (돼지에서 Open Pulled Straw(OPS) 방법에 의해 동결-융해한 수정란의 생존능력)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of vitrification in open pulled straws (OPS) methods on in vitro survival ability of porcine embryos. For in vitro maturation of immature oocytes, the porcine ovaries were collected from local slaughter-house. The cumulus-oocytes complexes were aspirated from 2 to 6 mm follicles. The collected oocytes were cultured for in vitro maturation in NCSU-23 medium with 5 mM hypotaurine, 0.57 mM cysteine, 10% porcine follicle fluid, 10 IU/ml PMSG and 10 IU/ml hCG for $21{\sim}22$ hrs. Then, the oocytes were more cultured $21{\sim}22$ hrs in vitro maturation in medium removed hormones. The frozen-thawed spermatozoa were washed by centrifugation 2 times for 10 min at 1,500 rpm in D-PBS with 5.56 mM glucose, 0.33 mM Na-pyruvate, 100 IU/ml penicillin, $100 {\mu}g/ml$ streptomycin and 4 mg/ml BSA. The fertilization medium used mTBM with 2 mM caffeine and 2 mg/ml BSA and adjusted to a pH of 7.2 to 7.4. The final concentration of spermatozoa was adjusted to $2.5{\times}10^6$cells/ml motile sperm during fertilization in vitro. At 8 hrs after insemination, the oocytes were transferred into NCSU-23 medium with 5.0 mM hypotaurine, 4 mg/ml BSA and 10 ng/ml EGF and cultured for 7 days. When the blastocysts of different stages were frozen-thawed by OPS methods, the proportions of embryos with normal morphology were significantly (p<0.05) higher in embryos frozen-thawed at expanded blastocyst stage (38.9%) than in early blastocyst stage (28.3%). On the other hand, the proportions of embryos damaged after frozen-thawing were significantly (p<0.05) higher in embryos frozen at early blastocyst stages than in expanded blastocyst stage. In another experiment, the normal embryos morphology after frozen- thawing were further cultured for 48 hrs. After culture, the proportions of embryos hatched were 6.7, 20.0 and 33.3% for embryos frozen-thawed at early blastocyst, mid-blastocyst and expanded blastocyst stages. These finding indicate the possible broader application for OPS methods, as frozen-thawed embryos may be accompanied by developmental stage according to requirements of the survival ability after freezing of blastocyst stage in the pig.

  • 이미지 해석에 의한 유속장 측정방법은 유체역학분야에서 지난 30 여년 동안 많이 활용되어온 속도측정 기법으로 오늘날에는 이를 수공학 분야에서 이를 유량측정 등 수리현상 해석에 활용하려는 시도가 다각적으로 이루어지고 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 이미지 해석에 의한 유속장 측정방법을 용담댐 시험유역에 적용하여 그의 자연하천에서의 적용성을 검토하고자 한다. 이미지 해석에 의한 유속장 측정방법은 PIV(Particle Image Velocimetry)로 통칭되고 있으며, PIV는 seeding, illumination, recording, 및 image processing의 네 가지 요소로 구성된다. seeding을 위해서 유체를 따라 흐를수 있는 작은 입자를 유체에 첨가한다. 유체를 따라 흐르는 입자들의 선명한 이미지를 얻기 위해서illumination이 필요하다. PIV를 이용하여 흐름을 해석하기 위한 illumination은 일반적으로 이중펄스 레이저가 이용된다. 이렇게 유속장 해석을 하려는 유체에 대하여 seeding 및 illumination이 준비되면 단일노출- 다중 프레임법, 혹은 다중노출-단일 프레임법으로 흐름을 recording을 한다. image processing은 이미지를 다운로드하고, 디지타이징 및 화질향상을 하는 전처리(pre-processing), 상관계수의 산정에 의한 유속 벡터의 결정 및 에러 벡터를 제거하고 유속장을 그래프화하는 후처리(post-processing) 과정으로 구성된다. LSPIV(Large Scale PIV)는 PIV의 기본원리를 근거로 하여 기존의 PIV에 비하여 실험실 내에서의 수리모형실험이나 일반 하천에서의 유속측정과 같은 큰 규모$(4m^2\sim45,000m^2$)의 흐름해석을 할 수 있도록 Fujita et al.(1994)와 Aya et al.(1995)이 확장시킨 것이다. PIV와 비교시 LSPIV의 다른 점은 넓은 흐름 표면적을 포함하기 위하여 촬영시에 카메라의 광축과 흐름 사이의 각도가 PIV에서 이용하는 수직이 아닌 경사각을 이용하였고 이에 따라 발생하는 이미지의 왜곡을 제거하기 위하여 이미지 변환기법을 적용하여 왜곡이 없는 정사촬영 이미지로 변환시킨다. 이후부터는 PIV의 이미지 처리 방법이 적용되어 표면유속을 산정한다. 다만 이미지 변환을 PIV 이미지 처리 전에 하느냐 후에 하느냐에 따라 유속장 해석결과에 차이가 있다. PIV의 네가지 단계를 포함하여 LSPIV의 각 단계를 구분하면, seeding, illumination, recording, image transformation,image processing 및 post-processing의 여섯 단계로 나뉘어진다 (Li, 2002). LSPIV를 적용시 물표면 입자의 Tracing을 위하여 자연하천에서 사용하기에 적합한 환경친화적인 seeding 재료인 Wood Mulch를 사용하여 유속을 측정하였다. 적용지점은 용담댐 상류의 동향수위관측소 지점으로 이 지점은 한국수자원공사의 수자원시험유역이 위치하고 있다. 이미지의 촬영은 가정용 비디오 캠코더 (Sony DCR-PC 350)을 이용하여 두 줄기의 흐름에 대하여 각각 약 5분 동안의 영상을 촬영한후 이중에서 seeding의 분포가 잘 이루어진 약 1분간을 추출한후 이를 이용하여 PIV 분석에 이용하였다. 대체적으로 유속장의 계산이 무난하게 이루어지었으나 비교적 수질 상태가 양호하고, 수심이 낮고, 하상재료가 자갈로 이루어져 있어 비슷한 색상의 seeding 재료를 추적하기 어려운 구간이 발생한 부분에서는 유속의 계산이 정확히 이루어지지 않았다.

Nationality Deprivation of Double Nationals in France and Securitization (프랑스 이중국적자의 국적박탈 논쟁과 안보화 (securitization))

  • France has allowed a deprivation of nationality for terrorism since 1996 Law. After then, a series of law revision (1998, 2006 law and 2010, 2015-2015 reform tries) have not only linked an act of terror with nationality deprivation but also put the dual national and their deprivation at the centre of dispute. Both 2010 Immigration Law by Sarkozy and 2015-2016 constitutional amendment by Hollande had been not adopted but have combined immigrants and security issue together by firmly solidifying the relationship between dual national and terrorist. Especially in 2015-2016, the constitutional amendment that failed to be adopted has extended a state of emergency and left the nationality deprivation of dual national as controversial issue. After over 4 months of discussion, the amendment that contains a clause of a state of emergency and extension plan for nationality deprivation was abolished but the dual national issues which had been non-politicized has now become politicized, defined as security issues and finally securitized. It shows very two-stage process of securitization argued by Copenhagen school including Buzan. The importance of securitization notion by Copenhagen school lies on the fact that it scrutinizes the constructive elements of the process of securitization. The concept of securitization allows us to see the problem of the process that defines a non-politicized issue as security one by making it political matter. Applying this process of securitization into the controversy of nationality deprivation of dual nationals in France, we can find out the development of non-controversial and non-politicized dual national issues into social agenda by politicization through speech-act or announcement effect.

A Study on the Prediction of Long-Term Settlement by the Modified Hyperbolic Method (수정된 쌍곡선 법을 이용한 장기 침하량 예측)

  • 최종침하 예측기법들은 분석상 간단명료하고 경제적인 기법이라 현장에서 널리 이용되고 있지만, 현장계측상의 문제들이 다분히 있는 실측치에 크게 의존함으로써 설계단계에서 침하량예측에 분석가의 주관적 판단이 큰 변수로 작용할 수 있으므로 객관성이 결여되는 결점을 안고 있다. 그 중 쌍곡선법(Hypervolic Method)이 가장 널리 쓰이고 있지만, 현장 계측치에 따라 가정 기본식의 선형성이 다소 뚜렷하지 않아 분석가에 따라 해석결과가 다르게 나타날 수 있으므로, 기술 적용상의 어려움과 경제적 비용을 더욱 가중시키는 결과를 초래할 수 있다. 따라서, 본 연구에서는 현장 계측자료 분석에 있어서 대표적으로 널리 적용되고 있는 쌍곡선법의 기본 가정식의 선형성 문제에 주안점을 두어 기본 가정식의 선형성을 확보하고, 그 선형구간을 확장한 새로운 침하예측기법을 제안하였다. 성토완료 직후의 현장 자료를 배수재가 설치된 지역과 배수재가 설치되지 않은 지역으로 구분하여 최종 1차 압밀침하량, 수직압밀계수 등을 기존예측기법 및 현장계측자료와 비교 검토하여 제안된 침하예측기법의 적용성을 검증하였다.

Multi-stage Image Restoration for High Resolution Panchromatic Imagery (고해상도 범색 영상을 위한 다중 단계 영상 복원)

  • In the satellite remote sensing, the operational environment of the satellite sensor causes image degradation during the image acquisition. The degradation results in noise and blurring which badly affect identification and extraction of useful information in image data. Especially, the degradation gives bad influence in the analysis of images collected over the scene with complicate surface structure such as urban area. This study proposes a multi-stage image restoration to improve the accuracy of detailed analysis for the images collected over the complicate scene. The proposed method assumes a Gaussian additive noise, Markov random field of spatial continuity, and blurring proportional to the distance between the pixels. Point-Jacobian Iteration Maximum A Posteriori (PJI-MAP) estimation is employed to restore a degraded image. The multi-stage process includes the image segmentation performing region merging after pixel-linking. A dissimilarity coefficient combining homogeneity and contrast is proposed for image segmentation. In this study, the proposed method was quantitatively evaluated using simulation data and was also applied to the two panchromatic images of super-high resolution: Dubaisat-2 data of 1m resolution from LA, USA and KOMPSAT3 data of 0.7 m resolution from Daejeon in the Korean peninsula. The experimental results imply that it can improve analytical accuracy in the application of remote sensing high resolution panchromatic imagery.

Variogram Analysis for Spatial Similarity Measures : A Case Study using Geochemical Data Sets in the Taebaek Area (공간적 상관도 측정을 위한 변이도 분석 : 태백지역의 지화학자료를 이용한 사례 연구)

  • The geological information analysis based on spatial statistical techniques have been studied in relation to mineral exploration. The applicability of outlier detection using moving-window statistics and directional cross-variography analysis have been verified by using geochemical data sets surveyed in the Taebaek area for mineral exploration. The directional variogram analysis has been basically known as a geostatistical method for spatial continuity measures. In this study, the application of this proposed method was extended to measure spatial correlation or similarity problems between two geochemical elements. For the appraisal of the usefulness of this scheme, five kinds of variogram functions were computed for original data and revised data, obtained by removing outliers detected by moving-window statistics and the results were compared. It is concluded that these advanced spatial statistical methods at the interpretation stage of spatial similarity provide us with valuable quantitative results as decision-supporting information for regional mineral exploration task.

  • Recently construction industry has faced new era as following the advances of IT technology. It becomes possible that information and knowledge among people are exchanged actively thanks to computer-based tools. In fact, the tools, PMIS(Project Management Information System) and KMS(Knowledge Management System) already have been introduced to constuction industry successfully. Lately IETM(Interactive Electronic Technical Manual) is tried to be one of these systems. This trying is being enlarged that the IETM's concept is changed to administrative and legal process provider throughout the lifespan of construction projects. However, it is hard to define construction IETM in mega-scale project like urban regeneration project because construction projects are complex and have diverse stakeholders. These properties may make the IETM ambiguous system. To do define IETM as a administrative and legal process provider, this research will conduct survey and interview, then analyze its own properties and find out design strategies. Based on the properties and strategies, suggesting IETM's system demands and architecture of urban regeneration processes.

  • Characterizations of Excavation Damage Zone (EDZ), which is hydro-mechanical degrading the host rock, are the important issues on the geological repository for the spent nuclear fuel. In the DECOVALEX 2019 project, Task G aimed to model the fractured rock numerically, describe the hydro-mechanical behavior of EDZ, and predict the change of the hydraulic factor during the lifetime of the geological repository. Task G prepared two-dimensional fractured rock model to compare the characteristics of each simulation tools in Work Package 1, validated the extended three-dimensional model using the TAS04 in-situ interference tests from Äspö Hard Rock Laboratory in Work Package 2, and applied the thermal and glacial loads to monitor the long-term hydro-mechanical response on the fractured rock in Work Package 3. Each modelling team adopted both Finite Element Method (FEM) and Discrete Element Method (DEM) to simulate the hydro-mechanical behavior of the fracture rock, and added the various approaches to describe the EDZ and fracture geometry which are appropriate to each simulation method. Therefore, this research can introduce a variety of numerical approaches and considerations to model the geological repository for the spent nuclear fuel in the crystalline fractured rock.

Correlation Between Bond Energy of Metal-Ligand and Observed Heat of Ligation of Cu(II) Complexes (Cu(II) 착물의 金屬-리간드 사이의 결합에너지와 실측 리간드화열과의 相關性)

  • The correlation was investigated between the observed heat of ligation and calculated bond energy for square planar and octahedral Cu(II) complexes by EHMO (Extended Huckel Molecular Orbital) method. It was found that net charge of $Cu^{2+}$ ion of both square planar $[Cu(H_2O)_{4-x}(NH_3)_x]^{2+}$(X = 0, 1, 2,${\ldots}$4) and octahedral $[Cu(H_2O)_{6-x}(NH_3)_x]^{2+}$complexes (X = 0, 1, 2,${\ldots}$6) is decreased with substituting $NH_3$ for $H_2O$ molecule. It was found that a good relationship exists between the observed heat of ligation and the calculated bond energy. From this fact, we can obtain a linear equation ${\Delta}H$ = 0.1194$E_{diss}$ + 0.4718, theoretical equation.
