  • This study was conducted to investigate the relationship between the socio-demographic factors and the Korean consumers palatability evaluation grades with Hanwoo sensory evaluation data from 2006 to 2008 by National Institute of Animal Science. The dichotomy logistic regression model and the multinomial logistic regression model are fitted with the independent variables such as the consumer living location, age, gender occupation, monthly income, beef cut and the the palatability grade as the categorical dependent variable and tenderness, 리avor and juiciness as the continuous dependent variable. Stepwise variable selection procedure is incorporated to find the final model and odds ratios are calculated to nd the associations between categories.

  • Multiple response surface optimization (MRSO) aims at finding a setting of input variables which simultaneously optimizes multiple responses. The minimization of mean squared error (MSE), which consists of the squared bias and variance terms, is an effective way to consider the location and dispersion effects of the responses in MRSO. This approach basically assumes that both the terms have an equal weight. However, they need to be weighted differently depending on a problem situation, for example, in case that they are not of the same importance. This paper proposes to use the weighted MSE (WMSE) criterion instead of the MSE criterion in MRSO to consider an unequal weight situation.

  • Multiresponse optimization (MRO) seeks to find the setting of input variables, which optimizes the multiple responses simultaneously. The approach of weighted mean squared error (WMSE) minimization for MRO imposes a different weight on the squared bias and variance, which are the two components of the mean squared error (MSE). To date, a weighted sum-based method has been proposed for WMSE minimization. On the other hand, this method has a limitation in that it cannot find the most preferred solution located in a nonconvex region in objective function space. This paper proposes a Tchebycheff metric-based method to overcome the limitations of the weighted sum-based method.

  • This study on CRM oftKorean restaurant guests to test the emotional response and behavioral intention. Three kinds of variables(service quality, information quality, system quality) from Korean restaurant guests were set to test the CRM. Results of the multiple regression analysis revealed a positive significant relationship with respect to quality of service, quality information, and quality system with all customer emtional reaction. Second, the results also found that the three independent variables of quality of service (${\beta}=.104$, P<.01), information quality (${\beta}=.215$, P<.001), and system quality (${\beta}=.682$, P<001) had a significant positive effect on the dependent variable for customer behavior (+). Third, CRM quality of service, quality information, and quality of the restaurant system are shown to influence the behavior and it also showed that both the part-mediated effects.

  • Multiple quantile regression that simultaneously estimate several conditional quantiles of response given covariates can provide a comprehensive information about the relationship between the response and covariates. Some quantile estimates can cross if conditional quantiles are separately estimated; however, this violates the definition of the quantile. To tackle this issue, multiple quantile regression with non-crossing constraints have been developed. In this paper, we carry out a comparison study on several popular methods for non-crossing multiple linear quantile regression to provide practical guidance on its application.

  • Quantile regression can estimate multiple conditional quantile functions of the response, and as a result, it provide comprehensive information of the relationship between the response and the predictors. However, when estimating several conditional quantile functions separately, two or more estimated quantile functions may cross or overlap and consequently violate the basic properties of quantiles. In this paper, we propose a new stepwise method to estimate multiple non-crossing quantile functions using constraints on the kernel coefficients. A simulation study are presented to demonstrate satisfactory performance of the proposed method.

  • In order to represent multiple regression data, an alternative graphical method, called as SSR Plot, is proposed by using geometrical description methods. This plot uses the relation that the sum of sqaures for regression (SSR) of two explanatory variables is known as the sum of the SSR of one variable and the increase in the SSR due to the addition of other variable to the model that already contains a variable. This half circle shaped SSR plot contains vectors corresponding explanatory variables. We might conclude that some explanatory variables corresponding to vectors which locate near the horisontal axis do affect the response variable. Also, for the regression model with two explanatory variables, a magnitude of the angle between two vectors can be identified for suppression.

  • The point-kinetics reactor system which is subject to feedback effects may have multiple steady-state solutions for some operating conditions. A necessary and sufficient condition for multiple steady-state solutions of the point-kinetics reactor feedback system for an external input reactivity is obtained through their theoretical approach. If and only if the steady-state feedback reactivity of the reactor system is not strictly monotonic on some values of the feedback variables, then the reactor system has multiple steady-state solutions for the equilibrium operating conditions corresponding to the values of the feedback variables. Also, if and only if the steady--state feedback reactivity is strictly monotonic on all the feedback variables, then the reactor system has only one steady-state solution for all the operating conditions.

  • In simple and multiple regression, there is a difference in the meaning of regression coefficients, and not only are the estimates of regression coefficients different, but they also have different signs. Understanding the relative contribution of explanatory variables in a regression model is an important part of regression analysis. In a standardized regression model, the regression coefficient can be interpreted as the change in the response variable with respect to the standard deviation when the explanatory variable increases by the standard deviation in a situation where the values of the explanatory variables other than the corresponding explanatory variable are fixed. However, the size of the standardized regression coefficient is not a proper measure of the relative importance of each explanatory variable. In this paper, the estimator of the regression coefficient in multiple regression is expressed as a function of the correlation coefficient and the coefficient of determination. Furthermore, it is considered in terms of the effect of an additional explanatory variable and additional increase in the coefficient of determination. We also explore the relationship between estimates of regression coefficients and correlation coefficients in various plots. These results are specifically applied when there are two explanatory variables.

  • The aim of this study was to determine principal non-acoustical factors for noise annoyance in the vicinity of Kimpo Airport in Seoul, Korea. Noise annoyance was estimated using self-reported annoyance scale. We have conducted a social survey aiming to identify the main sound sources, evaluate the annoyance and analyse the main effects of noise on people. Acoustical and non-acoustical variables are expected to greatly affect annoyance responses. This study divided acoustical variables into aircraft, road traffic and neighboring noises, and non-acoustical variables into demographic, situational and attitudinal variables. The study performed multiple regression analysis to determine the influences each variable has on annoyance responses. Acoustical variables affect noise annoyance to aircraft and neighboring noise except road traffic noise. For road traffic and neighboring noise annoyance was affected by non-acoustical variable, insulation by housing type. For aircraft noise, main noise source of this area, annoyance was affected by acoustical variable and some non-acoustical variables, mainly exposure time.
