Seismic reflection imaging of a Warm Core Ring south of Hokkaido (훗카이도 남부 Warm Core Ring의 탄성파 반사법 영상화)

  • A multi-channel seismic reflection (MCS) survey was conducted in 2009 to explore the deep crustal structure of the Pacific Plate south of Hokkaido. The survey line happened to traverse a 250-km-wide Warm Core Ring (WCR), a current eddy that had been generated by the Kuroshio Extension. We attempted to use these MCS data to delineate the WCR fine structure. The survey line consists of two profiles: one with a shot interval of 200m and the other with a shot interval of 50 m. Records from the denser shot point line show much higher background noise than the records from the sparser shot point line. We identified the origin of this noise as acoustic reverberations between the sea surface, seafloor and subsurface discontinuities, from previous shots. Results showed that a prestack migration technique could enhance the signal buried in this background noise efficiently, if the sound speed information acquired from concurrent temperature measurements is available. The WCR is acoustically an assemblage of concave reflectors dipping inward, with steeper slopes (${\sim}2^{\circ}$) on th ocean side and gentler slopes (${\sim}1^{\circ}$) on the coastal side. Within the WCR, we recognised a 30-km-wide lens-shaped structure with reflectors on the perimeter.

  • 고효율 LED를 얻기 위해서는 LED의 내부 양자효율과 외부 양자효율이 높아야 한다. 현재 GaN-Based LED의 내부 양자효율은 결정의 질의 개선 및 이중이종접합 또는 다중양자우물 구조와 같이 활성층의 캐리어 농도를 높이는 접합구조로 설계되어 거의 100%에 가까워졌다. 그러나 외부 양자효율은 반도체 재료의 높은 굴절률로 인하여 외부로 탈출하지 못하고 내부로 전반사 되어 반도체 내부에 갇히게 되는데 이처럼 갇힌 빛은 반도체와 중간 Interface에 TIR(total internal reflection) 또는 반사판에 의해 계속적으로 반사 된다. 그러므로 이를 해결하기 위한 플립칩 구조, 포토닉 크리스탈 등의 여러 가지 방법들이 제시되고 있지만 아직도 더 높은 외부 양자 효율의 개선을 요구하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 새로운 형태의 반사판(Al) 즉 p-GaN과 반사판 사이의 interlayer로 반사판과의 오믹 접촉을 고려한 Embo type의 NiO를 구현하여 반사된 빛의 방향을 내부반사를 줄일 수 있는 방향으로 변화시킴으로써 광 추출 효율의 향상을 기대할 수 있게 되었다.

Comparative Study on Illumination Compensation Performance of Retinex model and Illumination-Reflectance model (레티넥스 모델과 조명-반사율 모델의 조명 보상 성능 비교 연구)

  • To apply object recognition techniques to real environment, illumination compensation method should be developed. As effective illumination compensation model, we focused our attention on Retinex model and illumination-Reflectance model, implemented them, and experimented on their performance. We implemented Retinex model with Single Scale Retinex, Multi-Scale Retinex, and Retinex Neural Network and Multi-Scale Retinex Neural Network, neural network model of Retinex model. Also, we implemented illumination-Reflectance model with reflectance image calculation by calculating an illumination image by low frequency filtering in frequency domain of Discrete Cosine Transform and Wavelet Transform, and Gaussian blurring. We compare their illumination compensation performance to facial images under nine illumination directions. We also compare their performance after post processing using Principal Component Analysis(PCA). As a result, illumination Reflectance model showed better performance and their overall performance was improved when illumination compensated images were post processed by PCA.

  • 일정한 시간간격으로 제공되는 연속된 두 장의 레이더 반사도(합성 CAPPI) 자료의 최대 상관계수를 찾아 냄으로써 강수의 움직임을 산출하는 TREC(Tracking Radar Echoes by Correlation) 기법은 동일 고도의 레이더 반사도 자료를 이용하기 때문에 수평방향의 2차원이며, 대류성 구름체계에서 발생되는 수직 활동을 표현할 수 없는 한계성을 지니고 있다. 본 연구에서는 여러 고도의 레이더 반사도 자료를 이용하여 기존의 TREC 기법을 이용한 단시간 예보모형을 개선하고자 하였다. 특정고도의 레이더 반사도를 이용하여 에코를 추적하는 TREC 기법의 단점을 보완하기 위하여 서로 다른 고도의 레이더 반사도를 이용함으로써 기존의 접근법보다 실제 강수의 움직임에 더욱 가깝도록 단시간 강우 예보 정확도를 개선하였다.

  • 볼트와 너트에 대한 초음파비파괴검사는 종파와 사각 횡파 기술을 사용하고 있는데 작은 결함신호는 자사산의 신호와 크기가 비슷해 구분이 되지 않는다. 본 논문에서는 나사산의 다중반사신호로부터 결함신호를 구분할 수 있는 방법을 제시한다. 종파를 사용하였을 경우 균열의 선단신호와 코너에서 반사되는 신호는 진행시간이 거의 같아 중첩되어 나타나지만 균열로 인한 Rayleigh파는 균열의 선단신호와 코너에서 반사되는 신호다음에 결함길이에 따른 미세한 진행시간을 가지고 나타난다. 이와는 다르게 횡파를 사용하였을때의 균열의 선단신호는 코너에서 반사되는 신호보다 앞에 나타난다. 이러한 나사산에 존재하는 결함의 선단신호를 기준으로 순방향 또는 역방향으로 반사되는 신호로부터 작은 결함신호도 구분할 수 있고 그 크기를 정량적으로 계산할 수 있다.

Multiple Albedo Variation Caused by the Shadow Effect of Urban Building and Its Impacts on the Urban Surface Heat Budget (도심 건축물 그림자효과에 의한 다중 반사도 변화와 도시지표면 열수지에 미치는 영향)

  • In order to clarify the impact of variation of albedo on the atmospheric boundary layer caused by the density of building in urban areas, both satellite data analysis and numerical experiments were carried out. Utilized satellite data were multi-spectral visible data detected by the Korea Multi- Purpose Satellite -2 (KOMSAT-2), and the numerical models for the estimation of surface heat budget are Albedo Calculation Model (ACM) and Oregon State University Planetary Boundary Layer model (OSUPBL). In satellite data analysis, the estimated albedo in densely populated building area is lower than other regions by 17% at the maximum due to the shadow effect of skyscraper buildings. The surface temperature reached $43.5^{\circ}C$ in the highly dense and tall building area and $37.4^{\circ}C$ in the coarse density area of low buildings, respectively. However, the low albedo in densely integrated building area is not directly related to the increase of surface air temperature since the mechanical turbulence induced by the roughness of buildings is more critical in its impact than the decrease of albedo.

Atmospheric Correction Effectiveness Analysis of Reflectance and NDVI Using Multispectral Satellite Image (다중분광위성자료의 대기보정에 따른 반사도 및 식생지수 분석)

  • In agriculture, remote sensing data using earth observation satellites have many advantages over other methods in terms of time, space, and efficiency. This study analyzed the changes of reflectance and vegetation index according to atmospheric correction of images before using satellite images in agriculture. Top OF Atmosphere (TOA) reflectance and surface reflectance through atmospheric correction were calculated to compare the reflectance of each band and Normalized Vegetation difference Index (NDVI). As a result, the NDVI observed from field measurement sensors and satellites showed a higher agreement and correlation than the TOA reflectance calculated from surface reflectance using atmospheric correction. Comparing NDVI before and after atmospheric correction for multi-temporal images, NDVI increased after atmospheric corrected in all images. garlic and onion cultivation area and forest where the vegetation health was high area NDVI increased more 0.1. Because the NIR images are included in the water vapor band, atmospheric correction is greatly affected. Therefore, atmospheric correction is a very important process for NDVI time-series analysis in applying image to agricultural field.

Broad-band Multi-layered Radar Absorbing Material Design for Radar Cross Section Reduction of Complex Targets Consisting of Multiple Reflection Structures (다중반사 구조를 갖는 복합구조물의 RCS 감소를 위한 광대역 다층 전파흡수체 설계)

  • An optimum design process of the broad-band multi-layered radar absorbing material, using genetic algorithm, is established for the radar cross section reduction of a complex target, which consists of multiple reflection structures, such as surface warships. It follows the successive process of radar cross section analysis, scattering center analysis, radar absorbing material design, and reanalysis of radar cross section after applying the radar absorbing material. It is demonstrated that it is very effective even in the optimum design of the multi-layer radar absorbing material. This results from the fact that the three factors, i.e.. the incident angle range, broad-band frequencies, and maximum thickness can be simultaneously taken into account by adopting the genetic algorithm.
