Radiation Characteristics of Log-Periodic Cantor Dipole Antennas (대수 주기 칸토어 다이폴 안테나의 복사 특성)

  • In this paper, a novel log-periodic cantor dipole antenna(LPCDA), which is composed of the cantor-dipole elements instead of the existing dipole elements, is proposed. The proposed antenna makes possible the antenna miniaturization by using the cantor-dipole elements. To investigate the reliability of the proposed antenna, LPCDA is designed and analyzed at $1{\sim}4GHz$ band and compared with LPDA(Log-Periodic Dipole Antenna) characteristics. It is shown that although the elements of LPCDA are 13.3% shorter than LPDA, the gain increases about 2dB and VSWR is less than 2 in at the upper band.

  • 본 논문에서는 중심에 급전 소자를 갖는 원형 배열다이폴 안테나의 이득 특성을 검토하고 있다. 중심 안테나 소자의 길이와 급전 안테나를 적절히 선택하여 무 급전 소자의 유도 전류에 의한 안테나의 지향성 및 이득 특성을 변화시킬 수 있도록 반경과 중심 안테나의 길이를 적절히 선택하고 있다. 수치계산 결과, 원형 배열의 반경과 중심 안테나의 길이를 적절히 선택하므로서 고 이득의 특성을 얻을 수 있었다.

  • 기존의 대부분의 안테나는 한정된 공간에서 한정범위의 인식이 곤란한 단점이 있었다. 이러한 단점을 개선하고 소형화를 위하여, 간단한 형태의 다이폴안테나를 설계 하였다. Ansoft사의 Designer를 이용하여 안테나 시뮬레이션을 수행 하였으며, 산업체의 자동화 공정이나, 컨베이어상에서 제품에 부착된 전자태그의 인식효율과 소형화를 고려하여 설계하였다. 설계한 안테나는 RFID 안테나의 소형화와 한정된 공간에서 Tag 의 인식을 위해 테프론 기판을 이용한 다이폴 형태로 구현 제작하였다. 본 연구결과 설계 제작된 안테나는, 도우넛형태의 방사패턴을 가지며, 협소한 지역에 전파를 방사시켜서, 주변의 불필요한 태그의 인식을 최소로 하였고, 실제로 컨베이어 장치를 이용하여 개발 제품의 성능 테스트를 수행하였으며, 그 결과 제품의 우수성을 검증 하였다.

  • In general, printed antennas have a narrow bandwidth characteristic and many people want to find out the method of bandwidth improvement through complicated procedures. So we want to reform the conventional printed antenna characteristic by using the folded dipole's superiority to unit dipole. But it is hard to feed the printed folded dipole antenna, we use the CPW, which is widely used in microwave IC or MMIC applications and have many advantages to the conventional microstrip line, to feed the printed folded slot antenna. It is confirmed that the improvement in the bandwidth characteristic of CPW fed folded slot antenna, as much as 20%, through the measurement of designed and implemented antenna.

  • In this paper, the frequency reconfigurable antenna is proposed and designed. The proposed antenna is designed using the vertically stacked dipole structures and have the operating band for Cellular, PCS/WCDMA/Wibro/WiFi and WiMAX. The operating frequency band is selected by three pair of PIN diodes using the voltage difference between each dipole antenna and feeding transmission lines. The proposed antenna meets the required operating bandwidth and the maximum gain for each frequency band are measured as 6.3 dBi, 5.4 dBi and 5.8 dBi, respectively. The proposed antenna in this paper can be applied for the future mobile small base station or repeater antenna because this antenna can provide the small size and high gain features.

태양풍 관측기 시제품 개발

  • 태양으로부터 날아오는 고에너지 하전 입자들은 인공위성이나 지구의 통신장비에 심각한 고장을 일으킬 수 있다. 이런 사고를 방지하기 위해서는 사전에 태양풍의 물리량을 알아내는 것이 중요하다. 이를 위해 inter planetary scintillation 현상을 이용하여 태양풍의 운동을 예보하는 시스템을 전파연구소와 협력하여 개발할 예정이다. 그 첫 단계로 이 시스템보다 작은 규모의 시제품을 만들어 동작을 입증하고자 한다. 이 시제품은 각각 16개의 다이폴 안테나로 구성된 타일 3개로 이루어져 있다. 다이폴 안테나들의 중심주파수는 350MHz이고, 대역폭은 약10MHz이다. 48개의 다이폴 안테나들의 총 집광면적은 약 30m2이고, 타일 내의 다이폴 안테나들을 나선형으로 배열해 grating lobe의 크기를 감소시켰다. 각 안테나에서 나오는 신호는 저 잡음의 LNA를 이용해 증폭하여 beam former로 인가된다. Beam former는 안테나에서 나오는 신호의 위상을 조절하고 합쳐서 약 15도 크기의 빔을 만들고 전자적으로 천체를 추적한다. Beam former에서 나온 신호는 수신기에서 저주파의 신호로 변환되는데, 국부발진기를 조절하여 radio frequency interference에 능동적으로 대처할 수 있도록 하였다. 수신기에서 나오는 아날로그 신호는 digitizer를 최대 107sps의 빠르기로 2바이트의 디지털 신호로 전환된다. Labview 프로그램을 사용하여 3개의 타일에서 나온 신호를 합성해서 태양 근처의 전파원을 추적하도록 하였다.

Dipole- and Loop-Mode Transformable Origami Paper Antenna (다이폴 상태와 루프 상태로 변환 가능한 종이접기 방식의 종이 안테나)

  • A pattern-switchable origami antenna is designed with paper using inkjet-printing technology. The proposed antenna can be switched between loop and dipole antenna modes by folding and unfolding the paper, respectively. The proposed antenna is designed for the resonant frequencies of both modes to be 1.85 GHz. Eutectic gallium-indium liquid metal is introduced in order to avoid cracks in the conductive ink when the paper is folded. The performance of the proposed antenna is demonstrated through simulation and measurement results and antenna gain of dipole-mode and loop-mode are -4 dBi and -5 dBi, respectively. Also, the nulls of both dipole and loop modes compensate nulls from each mode.

CPW-Fed Super-wideband Semicircular-Disc-Shaped Dipole Antenna (CPW-급전 초광대역 반원-디스크-모양 다이폴 안테나)

  • This paper deals with the design and fabrication of a coplanar waveguide (CPW)-fed super-wideband semicircular-disk-shaped dipole antenna operating in a frequency band of 2.4 GHz or higher. To feed the antenna, a CPW feed line was appended to the center of the lower arm of the semicircular-disk-shaped dipole antenna. For miniaturization, square patches were added to the ends of the two arms of the semicircular-disk-shaped dipole, whereas the slot width of the CPW feed line at the center of the dipole antenna was increased to improve impedance matching in the 5.4-6.3 GHz band. The simulated frequency band of the proposed antenna for a voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR) less than 2 was 2.369-30 GHz(170.7%), whereas the fabricated antenna was maintained VSWR less than 2 in the frequency range of 2.378-20 GHz when measured using a network analyzer operating up to 20 GHz so it can be applied as a super-wideband antenna for next-generation mobile communications.

Design of a CPW-fed Double-Dipole Quasi-Yagi Antenna (CPW 급전 이중 다이폴 준-야기 안테나 설계)

  • A method for designing a DDQYA fed by a CPW is proposed in this paper. The proposed CPW-fed DDQYA consists of two series-connected strip dipoles, a ground reflector, and a strip-pair director. Instead of the conventional microstrip feed line in which the signal line is located on the substrate opposite to the antenna, a CPW is used because CPW is located on the same side with the antenna, and so the fabrication is easy. The strip-pair director is composed of two horizontally-separated strips, and it is added above the second dipole to enhance the gain in the high frequency region. A prototype of the proposed CPW-fed DDQYA is fabricated on an FR4 substrate. The fabricated antenna has a frequency band of 1.66-3.38 GHz(68.3%) for a voltage standing wave ratio < 2, and measured gain ranges 5.0-7.3 dBi over a frequency band of 1.60-2.90 GHz.
