  • Network topology design is a multiobjective problem with various design components. The components such as cost, message delay and reliability are important to gain the best performance. Recently, Genetic Algorithms(GAs) have been widely used as an optimization method for real-world problems such as combinatorial optimization, network topology design, and so on. This paper proposed a method of Multi-objective GA for Design of the network topology which is to minimize connection cost and message delay time. A common difficulty in multiobjective optimization is the existence of an objective conflict. We used the prufer number and cluster string for encoding, parato elimination method and niche-formation method for the fitness sharing method, and reformation elitism for the prevention of pre-convergence. From the simulation, the proposed method shows that the better candidates of network architecture can be found.

  • The shape optimization of an airfoil has been performed for an incompressible viscous flow. In this study, Pareto frontier sets, which are global and non-dominated solutions, can be obtained without various weighting factors by using the multi-objective genetic algorithm An NACA0012 airfoil is considered as a baseline model, and the profile of the airfoil is parameterized and rebuilt with four Bezier curves. Two curves, front leading to maximum thickness, are composed of five control points and the rest, from maximum thickness to tailing edge, are composed of four control points. There are eighteen design variables and two objective functions such as the lift and drag coefficients. A generation is made up of forty-five individuals. After fifteenth evolutions, the Pareto individuals of twenty can be achieved. One Pareto, which is the best of the . reduction of the drag furce, improves its drag to $13\%$ and lift-drag ratio to $2\%$. Another Pareto, however, which is focused on increasing the lift force, can improve its lift force to $61\%$, while sustaining its drag force, compared to those of the baseline model.

  • We consider the problem of scheduling tasks of a precedence constrained task graph, where each task has its execution time and deadline, onto a set of identical processors in a way that simultaneously minimizes the number of processors required and the total tardiness of tasks. Most existing approaches tend to focus on the minimization of the total tardiness of tasks. In another methods, solutions to this problem are usually computed by combining the two objectives into a simple criterion to be optimized. In this paper, the minimization is carried out using a multiobjective genetic algorithm (GA) that independently considers both criteria by using a vector-valued cost function. We present various GA components that are well suited to the problem of task scheduling, such as a non-trivial encoding strategy. a domination-based selection operator, and a heuristic crossover operator We also provide three local improvement heuristics that facilitate the fast convergence of GA's. The experimental results showed that when compared to five methods used previously, such as list-scheduling algorithms and a specific genetic algorithm, the Performance of our algorithm was comparable or better for 178 out of 180 randomly generated task graphs.

  • Grid computing is a new generation computing technology which organizes virtual high-performance computing system by connecting and sharing geographically distributed heterogeneous resources, and performing large-scaled computing operations. In order to maximize the performance of grid computing, job scheduling is essential which allocates jobs to resources effectively. Many studies have been performed which minimize total completion times, etc. However, resource costs are also important, and through the minimization of resource costs, the overall performance of grid computing and economic efficiency will be improved. So in this paper, we propose a multi-objective job scheduling model considering both time and cost. This model derives from the optimal scheduling solution using NSGA-II, which is a multi objective genetic algorithm, and guarantees the effectiveness of the proposed model by executing experiments with those of existing scheduling models such as Min-Min and Max-Min models. Through experiments, we prove that the proposed scheduling model minimizes time and cost more efficiently than existing scheduling models.

  • This paper proposes a representation for the embodiment design of mechanical structures and a genetic algorithm suited for the representation. In order to represent early stages and latter stages of the embodiment design, the designs are modeled as simultaneous multi-objective optimization problems of parametric designs for parts and of layout generation for structures. The study, thus, involves genotypes that are adequate to represent phenotypes of the models for the genetic algorithm to solve the given problems. We demonstrate the implementation of the genetic algorithm with the result applied to the gear equipment design.

  • This paper presents a scheduling problem for a high-density robotic workcell using multi-objective genetic algorithm. We propose a new algorithm based on NSGA-II(Non-dominated Sorting Algorithm-II) which is the most popular algorithm to solve multi-objective optimization problems. To solve the problem efficiently, the proposed algorithm divides the problem into two processes: clustering and scheduling. In clustering process, we focus on multi-robot positions because they are fixed in manufacturing system and have a great effect on task distribution. We test the algorithm by changing multi-robot positions and compare it to previous work. Test results shows that the proposed algorithm is effective under various conditions.
