  • This study aims to suggest guidelines of open classroom in open elementary school. It consists of following three parts. The first part takes a theoretical review of open education and open classroom. And the second makes analysis of architectural characteristics of open classroom as case studies which are analyzed in terms of modul, function and ratio of open space, etc. The last part is user need analysis of the open space.

  • 본회가 주최한 제 108회 발명 교실이 지난 2월 13일 발명장려관 연구실에서 개최됐다. 매월 둘째 토요일 오후 1시 30분에 개최되는 발명교실은 이달에도 1백여명이 참석하여 성황을 이루었다. 이날 발명교실에서는 한국도리비주식회사 대표 장상훈씨의 성공사례 발표에 이어 황종환 변리사의 $\ulcorner$산업재산권제도$\lrcorner$에 대한 강의와 김관형 본회 상근이사의 $\ulcorner$발명의 발상기법과사업$\lrcorner$에 대한 강의가 있었다. 발명가의 성공사례를 간추려 소개한다.

A Study on the Planning Characteristics of Contemporary Japanese Middle School Architecture (현대 일본 중학교 건축의 계획특성에 관한 연구)

  • This study reviewed the planning characteristics of contemporary Japanese middle school architecture on which related studies are insufficient, aiming to obtain new ideas for planning Korean middle school facilities. Fourteen case schools built after 1990s were selected and analyzed. They were divided into learning-living space and other major spaces. The planning characteristics of the case schools are summarized as follows 1) The case schools were classified into two categories, departmentalized classroom type (D type) and usual with variation type (UV type) by school system. These categories can also be the classification standard for basic architectural characteristics in learning and living space of case schools. 2) D type case schools have departmentalized classrooms, home base, media space and teacher's space for learning-living space. D type case schools are divided into 'attached-to-classroom type' and 'separate type' depending on the adjacency of the home base and departmentalized classroom. 3) UV type case schools have multipurpose space around the classroom for learning-living space and can be divided into two types, i.e., 'directly adjacent' and 'separate', depending on the connectivity to classroom of multipurpose room. 4) Specialized classrooms are designed to have the openness to the public and the own characteristics of school subjects strengthened and show the spatial differentiation with connected ancillary spaces. 5) Libraries are designed as complex zones grouped with computer labs, audio visual rooms and multipurpose halls not as a single room and as open plan not with a closed wall. 6) The gymnasium is the basic sports facility with a martial arts room and outdoor pool, which are for after-school activities as well as physical education class. 7) The terrace, balcony and outdoor stairs are frequently used architectural vocabularies as diverse outdoor spaces with a variety of functions.

  • The purpose of this study is to be able to accept various educational processes with a few classrooms by multi-purpose uses special classrooms and supporting facilities of medium and small sized elementary school. For this purpose, I had divided into three parts by analyzing correlation of each classrooms according to the types of lessons, necessary equipment, building equipment environment, the need of users. The types of lessons and necessary facilities make the scope of each classrooms throughout Correspondence Analysis, and the need of users that is the recognized similarity between each rooms by teachers, make the scope by using Multi-Dimensional Scaling(MDS). Establish the final scope by combining and analyzing the already classified rooms by each factor. Lastly, calculate the numbers of rooms by applying the usage rate of each classified classroom and examine the standard of planning and the example of composition for the multi-purpose uses of combined room.

Effect of cooling rate control on the change in hardness of the multi-purpose Ag-Pd-Zn-In-Sn alloy during porcelain firing simulation and post-firing heat treatment (다목적용 Ag-Pd-Zn-In-Sn계 합금의 모의소성 시 냉각속도의 조절이 소성 및 후열처리에 따른 경도변화에 미치는 영향)

  • In this study, the effect of cooling rate control on the change in hardness of the multi-purpose Ag-Pd-Zn-In-Sn alloy during porcelain firing simulation and post-firing heat treatment was investigated, and the following results were obtained. Softening of the multi-purpose Ag-Pd-Zn-In-Sn alloy during porcelain firing simulation was suppressed by controlling the cooling rate. When the cooling rate was adjusted to stage 0(firing chamber moves immediately to upper end position), the alloy was softened during porcelain firing simulation, and the hardness was greatly increased by the additional post-firing heat treatment. When the cooling rate was adjusted to stage 3(firing chamber remains closed), the alloy was not softened even after porcelain firing simulation, and the hardness was apparently lowered by the additional post-firing heat treatment. The apparent increase in hardness in the post-firing heat treated alloy after porcelain firing simulation at cooling rate of stage 0 attributed to the active precipitation. The apparent decrease in hardness in the post-firing heat treated alloy after porcelain firing simulation at cooling rate of stage 3 attributed to the fact that the precipitates were solutionized into the matrix by the post-firing heat treatment.

Amoebicidal Effect of Nephrite-containing Contact Lens Storage Case (연옥이 첨가된 콘택트렌즈 보관용기의 항아메바 효과)

  • Purpose: To compare the amoebicidal effects of nephrite containing contact lens (CL) storage cases with conventional CL storage cases. Methods: Acanthamoeba lugdunensis were inoculated onto 5% nephrite containing CL storage cases as well as conventional CL storage cases both with and without silicone hydrogel contact lenses (SHCLs). Then the amount of Acanthamoeba proliferation on CL storage cases and the number of adherent Acanthamoeba on SHCLs were determined and compared. The effects of multipurpose solution (MPS) with and without 1% or 5% nephrite solution on Acanthamoeba adhesion were analyzed. Results: Nephrite containing CL storage cases showed more inhibitory effects on Acanthamoeba proliferation (p = 0.02) and significantly reduced the number of adherent Acanthamoeba on SHCLs compared with conventional CL storage cases, regardless of SHCLs generation (p = 0.001, p = 0.001 and p < 0.001, respectively). The number of adherent Acanthamoeba on the first generation of SHCLs was significantly reduced by MPS with 1% and 5% nephrite solutions (p = 0.03 and p = 0.004, respectively), but the numbers for the second and third generation SHCLs were not. Conclusions: Nephrite could be used as a new additive component for CL storage cases and multipurpose solutions to improve the disinfection effects on Acanthamoeba.

  • Recently there have been the various trials going on that public facilities such as city hall, kindergarten, pubic library and so on are designed by Han-ok(韓屋) style. And it is necessary to apply Korean traditional wooden structure to such a various demands. Based on such situation and needs this paper aims to draw a example design proposal for Han-ok style elementary school which is located in Asan new town. The building scope is total 24 classes consist of 4 classes each grade. The Usual type is adopted to the lower grade classrooms which are Han-ok style using the composition of La-gung(羅宮) as a architectural precedent.

  • This study analyzed the type of the teaming space of 84 elementary schools which were prized as excellent schools on architectural planning and design in Japan from 1985 to 2005. As a result of the study, more types of learning space appeared at different elementary schools, and there was a tendency to plan as one unit space which include class room, multipurpose space, and others, on the planning of learning space. They intended to be uses for the teaming and living activity as a group of a school year.

  • The educational system of Korean elementary schools switches eventually from that of cramming to open study emphasizing student's autonomy and attaching importance to their individuality. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to establish renovational course for conventional classes to practise open education proper to Korean situations at a minimum of expense and time. And the consequence of this study can be summarized as follows : 1) To prepare for various learning activities, a multipurpose space that can be shared by three or four classes is required. 2) Partitions that have divided the existing spaces of unit study must be removed and substituted to a movable partition to make the class variable according to the form of study.

  • This study aims to establish new architectural agenda for the existing middle school facilities responding to individualized interactive learning approach(IILA). First, it investigates the mechanism of new teaching methods and contents proposed in the national level curriculum and the province guidances. Secondly, it suggests the Quality and Quantity of new (multi-purpose) classrooms that should be built for operating new curriculum in the existing middle schools. Finally, it finally emphasizes the educational specification that should be prepared prior to planning school buildings.
