고능률 가공에서 연삭 온도에 미치는 연삭 조건의 영향 (Influence of Operating Condition on Grinding Temperature in High Effect Grinding)

  • In this paper, the influence of the table speed, metal removal rate and grinding fluid on long wheel workpiece contact zone at high effect grinding was investigated by theoretical analyses and measuring the temperature, and discussed by the temperature distribution in grinding surface layer. Main results obtained are as follows, 1) Rega.dless of the table speed, the temperature gap of the workpiece(heat influx) is about 6-8 times as high in dry condition as in wet condition. 2) Good grinding condition can be obtained owing to the effect of grinding fluid without any burning defect under the condition of the metal removal rate(1.0mm$^3$/mm.s) in case of wet grinding. 3) When the depth from the surface layer is about 1.25-1.5mm under the condition of the slow table speed, surface temperature goes up higher as the table speed slows down, because long contact time is laked at the surface layer. 4) In case of the same metal removal rate, the lower the table speed becomes, the higher the surface temperature is, because grinding depth has a far more influence on wheel workpiece contact zone than the table speed.

  • Grinding has been adapted as a finishing process,which can carry out form and surface integrity at the same time. Recently, high efficient and precise grinding technique is required bacause the needs for functional parts such as silicon wafer,ceramic,and electric materials are increasing. Accordingly, the development of grinding wheel appropriate to that purpose is very important. So, in this paper we newly developed a diamond grinding wheel by applying the superior characteristics of spheroidal graphite of the cast iron sintered product. Especially, a electric resistance sintering method was applied in which rapid heat treatment is possible. Finally, we have achieved successful results that the grinding wheel has high hardness,durability and grinding ability,and satisfies above conditions.

  • 세라믹스는 우수한 기계적, 전기적, 화학적성질로 인하여 여러방면에서 점점 기대가 높아가 고 있다. 그럼에도 불구하고, 그 이용 범위나, 응용이 늦은 것은 가공성에 문제가 있기 때문 이라 해도 과언이 아닐 것이다. 세라믹스의 가공법으로서는 주로 다이야몬드 지립을 이용한 연삭, 절단, 래핑등이 행하여지고 있지만 이러한 방법은 가공 능률이낮기 때문에 생산성에 많은 문제를 안고 있다. 본 연구에서는 다이야몬드공구와 산화물계 A1$_{2}$0$_{3}$를 피삭재로 하여 다양한 절삭조건과 공구의 형상을 변화시켜 선삭 실험을 통하여 절삭력의 크기, 칩의 형태, 공작물의 형상, 표면조도 및 공구마멸등 절삭의 특성을 검토 하였으며 절삭에 의한 파인세라믹 스의 가공 가능성을 확인하고자 한다.

  • Recently, Fine Ceramics have been concerned significantly with some excellent properties and many functions as new industrial materials to the industry at alrge. For the manufacture of Fine Ceramics, sintering is essential process. Thus the most of a Fine Ceramics used for precision parts are in need of machining proces. It is, however, very difficult to manufacture the Advanced Ceramics with high efficiency because they have not only high strength and brittl- eness but also high hardness. In present research, experiments are carried out to obtain the basic knowledge of Fine Ceramics grinding with high efficiency. Representative advanced ceramics, such as A1/sub 2/0/sub 3/, Z/sub r/O/sub 2/SiC snd Si/sub 2/N/sub 4/are ground with diamond wheels using conventional surface grinding machine. This research is carried out for the purpose of saving machining technology required for manufactiring Fine Ceramics parts

범용 연삭기의 고능률 가공에 관한 기초적 연구 (A Fundamental Study on High Efficient Grinding with General Grinding Machine)

  • After observing grinding characteristics according to variable grinding condition in order to raise the grinding effect without making worse the grinding quality by using general grinding machine, main conclusions of this study are as follows; 1) When grinding quality is constant, grinding effect is changed according to the speed of the workpiece. But the rapidly increasing critical speed of table is($V_w{\leq}4m/min$). 2) As grinding effect is equal, the lower the speed of the workpiece becomes, the lower the grinding force and surface roughness obtains good results. 3) In terms of grinding method, the down cut grinding method produces good grinding surface royghness in case of little grinding depth;otherwise, the up cut method in case of more grinding depth.

난삭재의 초정밀.고능률 연삭가공을 위한 다이아몬드숫돌의 개발 (Development of diamond wheel for ultra precision and high performance grinding of difficult-to-materials)

  • Development of diamond wheel with fine grains and multi-pore structures were newely attempted. Wheels, that are employed for ultra precision and high performance grinding of difficult-to materials such as tungsten carbide alloy using tool and die materials, must have both performances to remove tool marks efficiently and to contact elastically with curved surfaces. Diamond grains were bonded firmly by a melamine resin to prevent the decrease of machining efficiency due to grain sinking within the bond materials. Also, highly foamed structures were developed to increase the flexibility of the wheel, and to induce active self-sharpening by increasing contact pressure between the wheel and work surfaces. In this paper, melamine-bonded diamond wheels are trial manufactured, then the forming method of wheels are suggested, and the grinding characteristics of wheels are also illustrated.

  • This paper described on the effect of residual stocks in internal grinding of tungsten carbide materials in order to improve the grinding efficiency as well as grinding accuracy. Though the fundamental investigation is carried out for tungsten carbide materials using electroplated diamond wheel, the residual stock after grinding process is effective to the grinding effciiency. The obtained results are as follows: (1) Under the depth of cut(t) is constant and decreasing the workpiece velocity(Vw), the resiudal stock after grinding is increased, but the difference is little less than the difference by table speed. (2) Increasing the wheel velocity, the residual stock after grinding is decreased. Therefore in order to minimize the residual stock, the wheel velocity should be increased as far as possible. (3) The surface foughness and out-of roundness increased with depth of cut and table speed, and decreased with wheel velocity, but it may as well adopt as much as polssible under the dimensional tolerance which is required for high efficiency grinding. (4) In order to remove residual stock, the spark-out grinding shoule be done, and it also can be improved about 20 .approx. 25% throughout spark-out grinding, and the number of optimal spark-out times were within 10 times.

연속 드레싱 공정을 도입한 엔지니어링 세라믹스의 고능률적 연삭 가공에 관한 연구 (A study on the grinding machining of engineering ceramics with high efficiency using "In-process dressing")

  • Engineering ceramics have some excellent properties as the material for the mechanical components. It is, however, very difficult to grind ceramics with high efficiency because of their high strength, hardness and brittleness. In this paper, experiments are carried out to obtain the effect of "In-process dressing" to grind the Engineering ceramics with high efficiency. To save running time for dressing process and obtain restraint effect of diamond grain wear, "In-process dressing" system using WA stick type honing stone is proposed. Representative Engineering ceramics, such as AI$_{2}$O$_{3}$, Si$_{3}$N$_{4}$, are ground with diamond wheel. Also bending strength test is carried out to check upward tendancy of mecahnical properties as the result of machining defact restraint through the grinding machining method using "In-process dressing" process. Some results obtained in this study provide useful information to attain the high efficiency grinding and the high mechanical properties of Engineering ceramics.rties of Engineering ceramics.
