For Bauhaus, the vaious typography experiments developed around the printing workshops, and it was only in the later Weimar Period that L. Moooly-Nagy, who came to be in charge of the rxinting workshops, approached it from the functional way of thinking and demanded print type reforms Using this as the basis, a new form of typograph called "typophoto" was developed by combining images and characters together using photography techniques and Bauhaus Unification Chaacter producyion. Harbert Bayer, striving at molds based on the ideologies of L. Moody-Nagy, prepared the framework for modern informational advertisements by producing a variety of advertisements based on several law of psychology and physiology. Bayer's successor, Joost Schmidt focused on lettering based on functionalism and typographic training and practice, while pioneering in the new area of display design wiwh efficient usage of space for exhibitions a1d dsplays. Thus, despite being carried doWl by the same leader in the sane era, the series of typographic experiments undertaken by the artists Bauhaus present guidelines to the direction modern visual communication must take through creativity and insight into the upcoming future that is not contained within the boundaries of traditions and customs.and customs.

Typography's original meaning was printing by a plate or a printing type. Nowadays, Typography covers graphic design that composes types visually. Typography has an important mean because of two functions-linguistic and image building functions. Typography helps conveying information and making images. As new media appears, audio-visual factors take an important role. Therefore Typography's image building function be more important than linguistic function. This thesis will handle the relationship between typography and game contents. How typography is described through game contents and how typography's meaning are explained in game contents are topics. And typography's functions and factors on On-line game will be discussed.

The foundation of the development in modern typography is based on the era of International Typographical Style and Modern Typography that valued morphological functionality and rationality to achieve an accurate conveyance of meaning. However, with the advance of postmodernism, the view that the aesthetic and conceptual aspect must be included in its interpretation rather than its rational functionality was prominent. Indeed, the works of Dan Friedman and April Greiman, two graphic designers that are known to be the most representative of the post-modernistic era, displayed that graphic design works can also serve as a method for a more free artistic expression, unlike works of Modern Typography. This move towards aesthetic graphics was first started by Wolfgang Weingart. His various attempts at expanding the concept of typography had a significant impact on the development of New Wave and his experimentalist attitude brought about a ground-breaking change to the functional design and formative expression of modern typography. However, this thesis will consider the theoretical background of the typographical designs displayed in Wiengart's works and the experimental methods thereof, and will not attempt to evaluate Weingart's pioneering role and achievements. Furthermore, this thesis will shed new light on the argument that the Weingart's works are not based on the authorship view of post-modernistic typography and are rather utilized to expand the concept of typography based on a syntactical approach.
