  • Article 6 of the Landscape Act stipulates that "the Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport establishes a basic landscape policy plan every five years in order to create a beautiful and pleasant landscape, discover and support excellent landscapes." This is a comprehensive plan for landscape policy, a national plan that presents basic directions and strategies for the formation and continuous management of excellent national landscape. The basic landscape policy plan is a plan established every five years. It is an action plan that establishes a medium-term strategy for landscape policy and proposes specific implementation plans. Landscape-related policies are established in various fields, such as the central and local governments, and the private sector, and are based on mutual cooperation. Local cities voluntarily establish basic landscape plans, but in terms of integration, there are few cases in connection with urban regeneration. However, when the existing city establishes the basic landscape plan, the effect will be doubled if a new city is comprehensively constructed in relation to urban regeneration from the overall aspect of the city. Therefore, this study aims to provide data so that a master landscape plan can be established by analyzing and synthesizing the problems of the existing city centering on Jeonju, a representative local city.

  • Many of old aqueduct bridges located in rural areas are in need of repair and redesign. They still occupy some portion of countryside landscaping. However, most of them were designed to fulfill their basic functions of carrying waters, which has not contributed to the landscape positively. Moreover, it is not rational to treat each design case of aqueduct bridges individually because they are relatively small in size and arranged continuously over a long path. Therefore, it is better to provide a design guideline to repair or to redesign old aqueduct bridges as a whole considering both structural safety and landscape. The main objective is to develop a framework to repair and redesign of old aqueduct bridges for safety improvement and better landscape. Specifically this paper will address the development of possible design alternatives for repair and redesign The development of design alternatives for redesign will follow general principle of bridge aesthetics and be represented according to structural system, flume shape, pier height, pier shape in terms of design parameters while minor repair includes paintings and other ornamentations. And the developed design alternatives will be reviewed with its landscape as a background to check the visual compatibility within the community context. It is expected that the proposed guideline will be utilized to develop a maintenance plan to revitalize old aqueduct bridges to improve overall landscape of rural areas.

The objectives of this study were to understand the three elements, Dangsan tree (Divine tree), shrine and stone tower, and to investigate the culture at inland areas and seashore areas relation to Dangsan forests. Twenty cases of Dangsan forests at inland areas and twenty at seashore areas were investigated. There were nine shrines and six stone towers found out of twenty inland Dangsan forests. Fifteen shrines were found out of twenty seashore Dangsan forests. Stone tower was not found at seashore areas. Fifteen events of dangsan festival were investigated. • This study aims to propose directions of color-scape about fishing village and harbor in East coast. In order to offer better landscape in harbor; Namae and Sachun, such as regional atmosphere and identification are to analyze with color planning. For the quality of color-scape, natural color, regional color of harbor may be possible to work out future harbor surrounding by evaluation scale and then hue, value, chroma can be estimated systematically. This survey suggests that color of harbor is to be environmental and regional color control. We analyze that the color-scape planning through the both whole harmony and organic combination is important elements of satisfaction to the people of experience with color environments. Consequently, some proposal of color guideline by analysis of color simulation will be useful to make out preliminary design criteria in improvement of color.

  • The dichotomous-choice contingent valuation method is applied to estimate the landscape value of Jeju mandarin(orchard). A distribution-free approach, Turnbull empirical distribution model, is employed to solve negative willingness to pay and truncation problems. The data used are collected from the interviews with tourist about willingness-to-pay at the various donation amount levels of Jeju mandarin(orchard)'s landscape value. The evaluation result is shown that the average amount of willingness to pay for the Jeju mandarin's landscape value is 12,926 won per person with standard deviation of 1,874.7 won/person. When the number of Jeju visitors is considered, the economic value of Jeju mandarin's landscape rises every year(2005:64.89 billion won, 2011: 84.43 billion won). The average economic value of Jeju mandarin's landscape are estimated 59.65 billion won during 2000-2005 and 76.88 billion won during 2006-2011, respectively.
