Comparative Analysis of Nitrogen Concentration of Rainfall in South Korea for Nonpoint Source Pollution Model Application (비점오염모델 적용을 위한 우리나라 행정구역별 강수 중 질소농도 비교분석)

  • BACKGROUND: Water quality management of river requires quantification of pollutant loads and implementation of measures through monitoring study, but it requires labour and costs. Therefore, many researchers are performing nonpoint source pollution analysis using computer models. However, calibration of model parameters needs observed data. Nitrogen concentration in rainfall is one of the factors to be considered when estimating the pollutant loads through application of the nonpoint source pollution model, but the default value provided by the model is used when there are no observed data. Therefore, this study aims to provide the representative nitrogen concentration of the rainfall for the administrative district ensuring rational modeling and reliable results. METHODS AND RESULTS: In this study, rainfall monitoring data from June 2015 to December 2017 were used to determine the nitrogen concentration in rainfall for each administrative district. Range of the $NO_3{^-}$ and $NH_4{^+}$ concentrations were 0.41~6.05 mg/L, 0.39~2.27 mg/L, respectively, and T-N concentration was 0.80~7.71 mg/L. Furthermore, the national average of T-N concentration in this study was $2.84{\pm}1.42mg/L$, which was similar to the national average of T-N 3.03 mg/L presented by the Ministry of Environment in 2015. Therefore, the nitrogen concentrations suggested in this study can be considered to be resonable values. CONCLUSION: The nitrogen concentrations estimated in this study showed regional differences. Therefore, when estimating the pollutant loads through application of the nonpoint source pollution model, resonable parameter estimation of nitrogen concentration in rainfall is possible by reflecting the regional characteristics.

A Game Design for IoT environment (IoT 환경을 위한 게임 기획)

  • The basic idea of IoT(Internet of Things) is interconnection and cooperation with a variety of things in real life such as Radio-Frequency Identification(RFID) tags, sensors, mobile phone, etc, through internet. IoT technologies which applied to these fields consist of sensor network technology and middleware, application. Currently, IoT technology is applied to various fields such as health care, home care, automotive, transportation, construction, agriculture, environment, food, and etc, based on its technologies. This paper focuses on discussion of the game planning method in IoT environment. In order to achieve this purpose, first, introduce the IoT technologies. Second, propose a game design elements and considerations in IoT environments. It can help for game developers by using IoT technologies.

A Study on Evaluating Tourism Value and Presenting Development Strategies for the Saemangeum Project (새만금지역의 관광자원 가치와 개발방안에 관한 연구)

  • This study was carried out to investigate how the basic plan of the Saemangeum development project that has been developed by the government since 1991 has been changed and to present a new development strategy by analyzing the future value and tourism resource value of Saemangeum development. The research methodology is based on the in - depth analysis methodology of the time series research materials and press releases published by the Saemangeum Development Administration, which oversees the development of Saemangeum. The government announced a plan to significantly reduce agricultural land and increase the proportion of non-agricultural land to 70% in order to create a multifunctional complex. After that, the government revised the basic plan of Saemangeum in 2014 and changed the plan to tailor the investment demand in order to cultivate investment demand, and introduced the special economic cooperation system for global economic cooperation. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to analyze the process of Saemangeum development to date and to evaluate the value of Saemangeum development as a tourism resource, centered on the Master Plan of the Saemangeum Development Project changed by the government. Based on the results of this analysis, I would like to present the vision of Saemangeum tourism development considering Saemangeum 's environment and characteristics of the surrounding scenery by referring to trends and similar cases of international tourism.

  • 미국에 있어서의 가금개량 계획은 농무성장관의 승인을 얻어 1935년 7월 1일부터 시행되었다. 연방 농무성의 회의에 의해서 결정되는 특별 예산은 가금의 개량, 가금 생산물 부화장에 대한 규칙을 운영하는 주당국에 지출된다. 전국 칠면조 개량 계획은 1943년 9월 25일부터 시행되고 있다. 본 계획의 운영에 대한 법적 근거는 1944년의 농업조직법에 근거를 하고 있다. 전국 가금 개량계획의 목적은 닭이나 칠면조의 생산성, 시장에 있어서의 생산물의 품질의 개선 및 부화장에 기인되는 질병에 의한 손실을 감소하는데 있다. 본 계획의 규정은 산업의 발전 새로운 지식이나 기술의 발전에 따라 차차 개정된다. 이러한 계획은 가금 개량계획 개정수속규정에 따라 각 주의 양계가 육종가 부화업자의 공식 대표에 의해서 구성되어 있다. 2년에 한번씩 열리는 전국가금개량 계획회의 권고에 기초를 두어 이루어진다. 본 계획에의 가입에는 주 및 각주내의 개인의 임의에 의하여 또 연방농무성에 협력하는 각주 정부기관에 의하여 각 주마다 운영된다.

  • 지구온난화의 영향으로 가뭄의 발생 빈도가 전 세계 곳곳으로 증가하고 있는 추세이다. 가뭄이란 강수량 혹은 가용 수자원 등이 평균적인 수준에 비해 지속해서 적게 유지되는 현상으로 다양한 분야(기상, 농업, 사회, 경제 등)에 피해를 발생시킨다. 가뭄이 지속되면 인간 사회 뿐만 아니라 동·식물이 서식하고 있는 생태계에도 영향을 미치게 된다. 우리나라에서도 2000년대 이후 주기적으로 발생한 가뭄으로 인해 가뭄 현상을 모니터링하고 예측, 전망하기 위한 다양한 연구가 진행되고 있으나 아직까지 환경생태가뭄에 대한 연구는 미흡한 실정이다. 본 연구에서는 가뭄으로 인해 환경생태계에 미치는 영향 중 수생태계에 초점을 맞춰 진행하였으며, 수생태계에 서식하는 동·식물 중 어류만을 대상으로 하였다. 생태가뭄을 빠르고 쉽게 예측하기 위해 Ecological Nomograph를 개발하여 가뭄에 따른 수생태계에 미치는 영향을 분석하고자 하였다. 본 연구에서 나온 결과를 바탕으로 환경가뭄을 감시하고 대응하기 위한 분석 방법으로 활용할 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.

Project of Improving Good Agriculture Practice and Income by Intergrated Agricultural Farming (미얀마 우수농산물 재배기술 전수사업)

  • The objectives of the project are to increase farmers' income through GAP and to reduce the loss of agricultural produce, for which the Korean partner takes a role of transferring needed technologies to the project site. To accomplish the project plan, it is set to implement the project with six components: construction of buildings, installation of agricultural facilities, establishment of demonstration farms, dispatching experts, conducting training program in Korea and provision of equipments. The Project Management Committee and the Project Implementation Team are consisted of Korean experts and senior officials from Department of Agriculture, Myanmar that managed the project systematically to ensure the success of the project. The process of the project are; the ceremony of laying the foundation and commencing the construction of training center in April, 2012. The Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the completion of GAP Training Center was successfully held under PMC (MOAI, GAPI/ARDC) arrangement in SAl, Naypyitaw on June 17, 2012. The Chairman of GAPI, Dr. Sang Mu Lee, Director General U Kyaw Win of DOA, officials and staff members from Korea and Myanmar, teachers and students from SAl attended the ceremony. The team carried out an inspection and fixing donors' plates on donated project machineries, agro-equipments, vehicles, computers and printer, furniture, tools and so forth. Demonstration farm for paddy rice, fruits and vegetables was laid out in April, 2012. Twenty nine Korean rice varieties and many Korean vegetable varieties were introduced into GAP Project farm to check the suitability of the varieties under Myanmar growing conditions. Paddy was cultivated three times in DAR and twice in SAl. In June 2012, vinyl houses were started to be constructed for raising seedlings and finished in December 2012. Fruit orchard for mango, longan and dragon fruit was established in June, 2012. Vegetables were grown until successful harvest and the harvested produce was used for panel testing and distribution in January 2013. Machineries for postharvest handling systems were imported in November 2012. Setting the washing line for vegetables were finished and the system as run for testing in June 2013. New water tanks, pine lines, pump house and electricity were set up in October 2013.

Assessing the Climate Change Impacts on Paddy Rice Evapotranspiration Considering Uncertainty (불확실성을 고려한 논벼 증발산량 기후변화 영향 평가)

  • Evapotranspiration is a key element in designing and operating agricultural hydraulic structures. The profound effect of climate change to local agro-hydrological systems makes it inevitable to study the potential variability in evapotranspiration rate in order to develop policies on future agricultural water management as well as to evaluate changes in agricultural environment. The APEX-Paddy model was used to simulate local evapotranspiration responses to climate change scenarios. Nine Global Climate Models(GCMs) downscaled using a non-parametric quantile mapping method and a Multi?Model Ensemble method(MME) were used for an uncertainty analysis in the climate scenarios. Results indicate that APEX-Paddy and the downscaled 9 GCMs reproduce evapotranspiration accurately for historical period(1976~2005). For future periods, simulated evapotranspiration rate under the RCP 4.5 scenario showed increasing trends by -1.31%, 2.21% and 4.32% for 2025s(2011~2040), 2055s(2041~2070) and 2085s(2071~2100), respectively, compared with historical(441.6 mm). Similar trends were found under the RCP 8.5 scenario with the rates of increase by 0.00%, 4.67%, and 7.41% for the near?term, mid?term, and long?term periods. Monthly evapotranspiration was predicted to be the highest in August, July was the month having a strong upward trend while. September and October were the months showing downward trends in evapotranspiration are mainly resulted from the shortening of the growth period of paddy rice due to temperature increase and stomatal closer as ambient $CO_2$ concentration increases in the future.

  • This paper explores agricultural extension systems, extension challenges, research and extension models, governance structures of agricultural extension and advisory services in Sudan. Agricultural extension services in Sudan are provided by a variety of governmental department and corporation. The Technology Transfer and Extension Administration under the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation, had been launched during mid 2000's aims at making extension systems farmer driven and farmer accountable by way of new institutional arrangements for technology dissemination in the form of community participation approach at the state level, to make the extension reforms have the active participation of farmers/farmer groups. The main problem facing agricultural extension services in developing countries is poor link between extension organization and research. Both extension administration and Agricultural Research Corporation (ARC) are operating as departments of ministry of Agricultural and irrigation for very long time. There are three recommendations to achieve the effectiveness of the Agricultural Research Corporations (ARC) in reaching farmers. Firstly, extension staff members should be assigned to every ARC station. Secondly, the ARC might increase positions for Agricultural development specialist or Farming System Research (FSR) specialist. Their role would be to reflect the needed of farmer and translate them to the researchable topics. Thirdly, researcher should conduct more research on farmer's fields.

Evaluation of Bioassay Methods to Assess Bacterial Soft Rot Resistance in Radish Cultivars (무 품종의 세균성 무름병 저항성 생물검정법 평가)

  • Bacterial soft rot, caused by Pectobacterium carotovorum subsp. carotovorum (Pcc), is one of the destructive diseases of radish (Raphanus sativus) in Asian countries. The objective of this study was to establish an efficient bioassay method for the evaluation of bacterial soft rot resistance in commercial radish cultivars. First, an efficient bioassay method for examining resistance to bacterial soft rot in commercial radish cultivars was investigated. Six commercial radish cultivars were tested under various conditions: two temperatures (25℃ and 30℃), three inoculations methods (drenching, spraying, and root dipping), and two growth stages (two- and four-leaf stages). The results suggested that spraying with 1×106 cfu/ml of bacterial inoculums during the four-leaf stage and incubating at 30℃ could be the most efficient screening method for bacterial soft rot resistance in commercial radish cultivars. Second, we investigated the degree of resistance of 41 commercial radish cultivars to five Pcc isolates, namely KACC 10225, KACC 10343, KACC 10421, KACC 10458, and KACC 13953. KACC 10421 had the strongest susceptibility in terms of moderately resistant disease response to bacterial soft rot. Out of the 41 radish cultivars, 13 were moderately resistant to this pathogen, whereas 28 were susceptible. The moderately resistant radish cultivars in this investigation could serve as resistance donors in the breeding of soft rot resistance or could be used to determine varietal improvement for direct use by breeders, scientists, farmers, researchers, and end customers.
