The total explanatory power was 42.3%. Conclusion: Based on the results of this study, it was found that aging anxiety and successful aging influenced the preparation for aging of middle-aged women. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a nursing intervention that properly manage aging anxiety and improves successful aging, in order to encourage middle-aged women to actively prepare for their later lives.
Purpose: In this study, we sought to identify the impact of aging anxiety and successful aging on the personality traits of elderly. Method: Subjects were 108 elderly persons aged more than 65 years. Data collected from June to November 2015 were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-tests, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and stepwise multiple regression. Results: With regard to the mean scores of personality traits, conscientiousness yielded the highest score, and neuroticism the lowest. The mean score on aging anxiety was below average, and that on successful aging was above average. Aging anxiety differed significantly according to age, present job, economic status, and health status. Successful aging differed significantly according to having a spouse, economic status, and health status. Significant correlations were found between anxiety and conscientiousness, extraversion, and neuroticism, and between successful aging and conscientiousness, agreeableness, extraversion, openness, and neuroticism. Conscientiousness and neuroticism had an effect on aging anxiety (23.2%), whereas conscientiousness, agreeableness, extraversion, openness, and neuroticism affected aging anxiety (45.3%). Conclusion: These findings indicate that personality traits reduce aging anxiety and lead to successful aging among elderly.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to determine effects of posttraumatic growth, aging anxiety, and spirituality on successful aging in late middle-aged women. Methods: Participants were 128 late middle-aged women. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficients and hierarchical multiple regression with SPSS WIN 23.0 program. Results: Results showed that significant factors influencing successful aging were spirituality and monthly income. This regression model explained 21.4% of the variance in successful aging. Conclusion: These results provided the basic data for establishing an intervention strategy to increase the level of successful aging of middle-aged women. In addition, the results suggested that development of a nursing intervention program is in need.
Purpose: The purpose of the study was to identify factors influencing health promotion behavior of late-middle aged women. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, $Scheff{\acute{e}}$ test, Pearson correlation coefficient, Stepwise multiple regression with SPSS/WIN 23.0 program. Results: Health promotion behavior of later middle-aged women was different by general characteristics such as religion, exercise, economic satisfaction, life satisfaction, and leisure time activities. Health promotion behavior had a positive relationship with health perception and perception of successful aging, and a negative relationship with aging anxiety. Health perception, perception of successful aging, exercise, leisure time activities (exercise and social activity) were verified significant factors influencing health promotion behavior accounted for 38%. Conclusion: The results indicate that health perception and perception of successful aging influence health promotion behavior of late-middle age women. It would provide the basic data for the development of program aimed at improving health promotion behavior of late-middle age women.
Purpose: The purpose of this study were to 1) degree of the aging anxiety 2) to identify predictors influencing aging anxiety of the elderly. Method: Data were collected from 179 elders & utilizing questionnaires developed by Watkins, Coates, and Ferroni(1998). Data were analyzed using SPSS/Win 10.0 program and descriptive statistics t-test ANOVA were adopted as necessary. Result: Degree of the aging anxiety were 33-60scores, mean 49.96 scores. There were significant differeence in aging anxiety scores according to relegion, and disease. conclusion : The result of this study show the aging anxiety in a improtant factor in explaining psychological health, and development of adequate intervention for the elderly population to decrease the aging anxiety.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship among aging anxiety, depression, and self-esteem of middle-aged people. Method: The study was designed as a descriptive correlation study Data were collected using a structured questionnaire which included general characteristics, and measures of aging anxiety, depression, and self-esteem. Data collection was done between March 15 and June 10. 2006 with 184 middle-aged participants. Results: The average score of the participants for aging anxiety was 48.38, for depression 16.49, and for self-esteem 29.08. There were positive correlations between aging anxiety and depression, aging anxiety and self-esteem. There was a negative correlation between depression and self-esteem. The correlations were statistically significant. Conclusion: Therefore, nursing program should be developed to improve the mental health and increase the qualitative life of middle-aged people.
결과 분석은 SPSS/WIN 19.0 program을 이용하여 기술통계, t-test, one way ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient, stepwise multiple regression analysis를 사용하여 분석하였다.
Purpose: This was a methodological study that aimed to develop a measurement scale for aging anxiety among middle-aged women. Methods: In this study, construct factors were extracted, and a conceptual framework was established through an extensive literature review and in-depth interviews with middle-aged women. Under the conceptual framework, 44 preliminary items were constructed, and a preliminary scale of 25 items was completed after two rounds of expert validation and item review. For this study, data were collected from 201 women aged 40~59 years, and the construct validity and reliability of the preliminary scale were verified. Results: To verify the construct validity, exploratory factor analysis was conducted. Four factors containing 19 items were extracted. Concurrent validity of the developed scale was verified with Pearson's correlation analysis. The final scale comprised 4 factors ("Social valueless", "Physical weakness", "Concern about changes in appearance", and "Expectations of old age") and 19 items. The Cronbach's ${\alpha}$ value was .91. Conclusion: The scale for measuring aging anxiety in middle-aged women developed in this study validly reflected the peculiarities of aging anxiety in middle-aged women, who experience many physical, emotional, and social changes. The scale can be said to reflect the cultural background, as it reflected real experiences gained through in-depth interviews with middle-aged women.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to explore the influence of care stress for older patients, self-perceptions of aging, and anxiety about aging on preparation for retirement in clinical nurses. Methods: This was a cross-sectional descriptive study in which participants were 222 nurses who had at least six months of work experience and were involved in caring for older patients in the last six months at the work site. Data were collected from August to September, 2020 using an online survey questionnaire. Data were analyzed using the IBM SPSS/WIN 25.0 program. Results: The mean level of preparation for retirement in the participants was moderate (3.21 out of 5 points). Among the sub-domains of preparation for retirement, financial preparation had the lowest score. Self-perceptions of aging and aging anxiety were significant predictors for retirement preparation in nurses, accounting for 16% of the variable's total variance. Conclusion: A greater level of preparation for retirement was associated with a positive perception of aging and a decreased level of aging anxiety in the clinical nurses. Further research should focus on exploration of specific determinants of financial preparation for retirement and development of intervention strategies for improving preparation for retirement in the nursing workforce.
