  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the correlation of family support, self-esteem and life-satisfaction in homeless persons and to provide basic data to help them attain a better quality of life. From Jul. 1 to Oct. 10, 2000, 235 homeless persons, registered at the noninstitutionalized homeless and institutionalized homeless in Seoul, were accepted as subjects for the study. The instruments used for this study were a Family support scale of Park, Jee Won, life-satisfaction scale of Wood, Wylie & Sheafer and Rosenberg's Self-esteem Scale. The reliability of the scales were tested by Cronbach's Alpha. The collected data Were analyzed by the SPSS program using unpaired t-test and Pearson's Correlation Coefficients. The results were as follows : 1. There Was a statistically significant difference in the level of demographic between family support groups : age(t=2.74, P=.001), education background(f=5.48, P=.001), connection of family (t=2.29, P=.05), present illness(t=2.04, P=.05). 2. There Was a statistically significant difference in the level of demographic between self-esteem groups : education background(t=3.24, P=.05), connect of family (t=3.38, P=.001), types of disease(t=2.12, P=.05), job related to income (t=2.12, P=.05). 3. There Was a statistically significant difference in the level of demographic between life-satisfaction groups : education background(t=3.39, P=.05), connect of family(t=2.10, P=.01), smoking(t=2.38, P=.01), disease(t=1.92, P=.05), emotion states(t= 6.12, P=.001). 4. There was a positive correlation between family support and self-esteem for the homeless and it was statistically significant (r=.267, p=.001). 5. There was a positive correlation between family support and life-satisfaction for the homeless and it was statistically significant(r=.299, p=.001). 6. There was a positive correlation between life-satisfaction and self-esteem for the homeless and it was statistically significant(r=.179, p=.01).

  • This study, Seoul City shelter, you are trying to seek medical cooperation and cure rate increase proposal Yu findings's current situation and tuberculosis of homeless tuberculosis. Inspector, and has a total 591 people is targeted to implement an interview after acquiring utilization agreement in studies conducted chest X-ray photography. Of the interview questions, three or more protons, it is determined that the TB symptomatic conducted sputum examination, chest X-ray examination confirms the physician radiology, when sputum examination primarily chromatic findings the double implemented and conducted by requesting the ship inspection also said inspection sputum acid-fast bacteria if it is true one, respectively. confirmed case result of checking whether there is a difference due to risk factors(Jb) at the chi square black, it was found that there is no statistically significant difference at 95% confidence level. (${\chi}^2=0.276$, p>0.05), suspected case (Ac, Ae) results of examining whether there is a difference due to risk factors in chi square black, that there is a statistically significant difference at 99% confidence level is I found (${\chi}^2=9.414$, p<0.01). The nature of the homeless tuberculosis screening and directed to the distance homeless specific location are likely to evaluate the actual incidence low and aggressive or management needs, the rationale is allowed insufficient reality is. Through this research, future, for tuberculosis high risk tuberculosis patient, such as homeless to expand the tuberculosis screening of infectious tuberculosis patients in private medical institutions, and one-stop service that chest X-ray examination and sputum examination is carried out at the same time introduced immediately to prevent the inspection and examination, cure, and should establish a foundation that can be up to post administration.

  • The aim of this study is to explore the relationships among paranoid tendencies, cognitive characteristics and prejudice. Revised Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory Pa scale, Harris-Lingoes Naivetes(Pa3), dichotomous thinking(DT), attributional style, prejudice toward minority groups(migrant workers, homosexuals, and homeless people) were administered to 557 college students. High Pa3 group was significantly low in prejudice toward minority groups. Also, the group with higher DT showed more prejudice toward minorities. The suggestions and the limitations of this study, and the directions of future study were discussed.

  • A series of experiments was conducted to determine the toxicities of thiodicarb on the six lepidopterous pests (Pseudaletia separata, Plutella xylostella, Palpita indica, Spodoptera exigua, Helicoverpa assulta, Spodoptera litura) and to elucidate factors insecticidal effects mechanism of thiodicarb. Thiodicarb was very effective against six lepidopterous young larvae, but less effective to the old larvae and it acted slowly. Thiodicarb inhibited acetylcholinesterase and glutathione S-transferase activities, but not inhibit esterase activity.

  • This study was undertaken to study the morphological changes of rat synapses during early postnatal periods. Neonatal rats were grouped by 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 6th postnatal weeks, and we observed the ultrastructural pattern of the synapses in the external plexiform layer of olfactory bulbs by electron microscopy. The results were as follows; 1. The numbers of synapses, lengths of synaptic thickenings and amounts of synaptic vesicles were markedly increased in the external plexiform layer during four postnatal weeks. 2. There was a tendency of increasing the proportion of the asymmetric synapse and the curved synapses during maturation. From the above results, it is suggested that the size of synapse is increasing during maturation, and at the same time the asymmetric synapses are formed from the symmetric type and the curved synapses are from the plane type.

  • The primary objective of this study was to determine the optimal mixing ratio in preparing Omi-Galsu concentrate. By varying the amounts of Omija extract, mung bean juice, and sugar in the concentrate mixture, we found that pH increased with greater amounts of Omija extract and sugar. According to sensory evaluations, sugar and total free sugar contents were highest when the mixing ratio was 1:1:20%(Omija extract, mung bean juice, and sugar respectively). This ratio also presented the most attractive color and highest overall acceptability.

  • This experiment was investigated for purpose of the clearfying the proper temperature and time needed to preserve the lactobacillus fermented products. The results obtained in this experiment were as follows; 1. The number of microorganisms in the lactobacillus fermented products were almost the same as the FAO value. 2. Microorganisms were stable at $4^{\circ}C$ but unstable at $15^{\circ}C$ and $25^{\circ}C$ in the passing of the time. 3. The range of PH changed was from 3.5 to 4.0. 4. The turbidity of the products was more changeable in groups A, B and D than in groups C and E.

  • The effect of natural condiments on peptic hydrolysis of casein in vitro has been studied, peptic activity was determined by the colorimetric method using folin reagent. The obstructive compounds on colorimetry from hydrolyzates of casein were separated by gel filteration method using sephadex G-10 column and 0.05M NaCl. Zinger and red pepper $(0.1{\sim}1.0%)$ were found to have slightly supressing effect for protein digestive action of pepsin. But garlic, green onion and onion acted as synergist for protein digertive action of pepsin.

  • The sycamore lace bug, Corythucha ciliata (Say), attacking a sycamore tree, Platatanus orientalis L., was first found in Korea, and was widely distributed in the central part of the country. The adult was milky white in color and 3.0-3.2 mm long, and the matured nymph was black. Heavily infested trees appear yellowish white as a result of feeding by the nymphs on the under surface of leaves.
