Design and Development of Electromagnetic Launcher for Low-High Velocity Impact Test (중고속 충돌 실험을 위한 전자기력 발사장치의 설계와 제작)

  • Many plane, UAV and drone fly in the sky as development of aviation industry. Plane and UAV fly and drone's propellers rotate so fast. Impact between flying objects which have high velocity threats passengers. Also the impact damages people, building and various property. Plane's operating speed is near sound velocity(340m/s), and propeller's rotating speed is less than that. Until now, impact experiment uses gas gun to get speed and the gun needs large space to entirely air expansion. Electromagnetic launcher, especially railgun, needs smaller space than gas gun to get enough speed about 500m/s. This paper explains electromagnetic launcher's operating principle, shows making electromagnetic launcher design guide line and suggests that it is a better apparatus to get low-high velocity.

Research of the Signal Processing techniques applied to the Command Link Receiver of High Speed Aircrafts (고속 비행체 명령수신기 신호처리 기법 연구)

  • In this paper, we propose the signal processing techniques for the command link receiver mounted to aircrafts flying at a high speed. In order to acquire the various information transmitted from ground through radio frequency links, the wide received signal range must be guaranteed as well as the carrier synchronization and symbol synchronization be performed correctly within short pulse sections. After the synchronization step, we should be able to achieve theoretical performance of the modulation and demodulation scheme applied as deciding bit and symbol at the time appointed. By test results, we make sure that the proposed signal processing techniques can be effectively applied command link receiver mounted to aircrafts.

On-site Demonstration of Topographic Surveying Techniques at Open-pit Mines using a Fixed-wing Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (Drone) (고정익 무인항공기(드론)를 이용한 노천광산 지형측량 기술의 현장실증)

  • This study performed an on-site demonstration of the topographic surveying technique at a large-scale open-pit limestone mine in Korea using a fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV, Drone, SenseFly eBee). 288 sheets of aerial photos were taken by an automatic flight for 30 minutes under conditions of 300 m altitude and 12 m/s speed. Except for 37 aerial photos in which no keypoint was detected, 251 aerial photos were utilized for data processing including correction and matching, then an orthomosaic image and digital surface model with 7 cm grid spacing could be generated. A comparison of the X, Y, Z-coordinates of 4 ground control points measured by differential global positioning system and those determined by fixed-wing UAV photogrammetry revealed that the root mean squared errors were around 15 cm. Because the fixed-wing UAV has relatively longer flight time and larger coverage area than rotary-wing UAVs, it can be effectively utilized in large-scale open-pit mines as a topographic surveying tool.

  • In this study, one type of ramjet intake were designed for the flight condition of Mach number 4 and numerical analysis was performed. In order to widen the flight envelope range (Mach number $2{\sim}6$), movable intake concept was applied. The central body was designed so that the capture area ratio which is one of most important factors of ramjet intake design could be adjusted. And various types of cowl and movable insert part of shell were designed in order to control throat area which could increase total pressure recovery. The numerical results showed that the designed ramjet intake could be applied in various flights Mach number.

Model-Reference Adaptive Pitch Attitude Control of Fixed-Wing UAV (고정익 무인 항공기 피치 자세의 모델-참조 적응 제어)

  • Despite the well-known mathematical model of fixed-wing aircraft, there are various studies to meet desired performances by considering the modeling errors in the extended flight envelope. This paper proposes a new adaptation mechanism of model-reference adaptive control, which applies the Levenberg-Marquardt algorithm to the pitch attitude control of fixed-wing UAV. In addition, reference model in the adaptation law is set by referring to the dynamic properties of the plant model. The performance of the proposed adaptive control law is verified through simulations and flight tests.

  • 홍수기 효과적인 하천관리를 위해서는 광역 모니터링을 위한 기술 확보가 매우 중요하며, 최근 드론을 활용한 하천 모니터링에 관한 관심이 점차 증가되고 있다. 하천관리에 필요한 드론 탑재용 센서는 기본적으로 RGB 광학센서를 비롯하여 근적외선(Nir) 및 열적외선 센서가 함께 운용되는 것이 효과적이다. 그러나 현재 판매되는 드론 카메라를 살펴보면 근적외선과 열적외선 센서가 별도로 분리되어 있고 광학센서에 비해 상대적으로 매우 고가로 판매되고 있는 실정이다. 따라서 하천 모니터링을 위해서는 광학(RGB), 근적외선 그리고 열적외선 센서가 통합된 저가의 탑재체 개발이 시급하고 이를 활용한 하천 모니터링 프로세스를 정립할 필요가 있다. 본 연구에서는 일반 드론에 쉽게 탑재 가능한 하천 모니터링용 탑재체를 개발하였으며, 이를 기반으로 하천 홍수 및 부유사 모니터링에 활용하였다. 광학센서는 하천의 주요 형상을 확인하는데 이용하였으며, 근적외선 센서는 홍수 및 부유사 탐지에 활용하였다. 특히 본 연구에서는 비교적 넓은 하천 구역에 대한 공간정보를 구축하기 위해 75% 이상의 중복도를 가지고 촬영하도록 세팅하였으며 영상접합 SW를 활용하여 정사영상을 생성하였다. 구축한 근적외선 정사영상으로부터 영상분석 프로그램을 활용하여 홍수 및 부유사 영역을 추출하였으며 이를 통해 홍수기 하천 모니터링 및 치수 업무 의사결정을 위한 정보를 제공할 수 있었다. 저가용 드론 센서는 상용 SW와의 연계가 어렵기 때문에 자동비행 프로그램처럼 해당 위치별 영상 촬영이 어려운 한계가 있었으며, 본 연구에서는 센서의 제원특성을 활용하여 자동비행 SW에서도 일정 이상의 중복도를 확보할 수 있는 비행고도별 촬영시간 등을 종합적으로 설계하였다. 이를 통해 해당 지역에 대한 하천 모니터링용 정사영상을 구축할 수 있었으며 기존의 고가용 드론 센서와 유사한 효과를 가져올 수 있었다.

A Study on UAV DoA Estimation Accuracy Improvement using Monopulse Tracking (모노펄스 추적을 이용한 무인기 DoA 추정정밀도 향상 방안에 관한 연구)

  • Various studies such as INS(: Inertial Navigation System) are conducting to estimate the position of UAV, because the GPS information of UAV is at risk like the GPS jamming. The position estimation using DoA and RTT are used to apply many radar systems, and that process can be applied in datalink of UAV. The general monopulse feed in UAV datalink is Multi-horn, because of the wide BW(: Band Width) and frequency range. And it needs wide SNR range of tracking because of the limited transmit power of airborne unit. The estimation error of position increase at low SNR, and the DoA is valid in only 3dB beam width but high SNR causes false of mainlobe detection because of large sidelobe. In this paper, We propose the method to achieve higher accuracy of DoA estimation on low SNR and review some idea that able to detect mainlobe.

Variable Inlet Design for Hypersonic Engines with a Wide Range of Flight Mach Numbers (광대역 마하수 비행을 위한 극초음속 엔진 흡입구의 가변형상 설계)

  • In present study, a supersonic inlet for dual mode ramjets or RBCC/TBCC engines with a wide range of flight Mach numbers is designed. A conical variable inlet configuration is chosen for the inlet design. Geometric relations with angles of compression cones and conical shock waves are used for the design of the inlet configuration. The performance of the supersonic inlet is confirmed by the numerical analysis. The capture area ratio is maintained around 100% from Mach 3 to 8 conditions.

Development of Surface Velocity Measurement Technique without Reference Points Using UAV Image (드론 정사영상을 이용한 무참조점 표면유속 산정 기법 개발)

  • Surface image velocimetry (SIV) is a noncontact velocimetry technique based on images. Recently, studies have been conducted on surface velocity measurements using drones to measure a wide range of velocities and discharges. However, when measuring the surface velocity using a drone, reference points must be included in the image for image correction and the calculation of the ground sample distance, which limits the flight altitude and shooting area of the drone. A technique for calculating the surface velocity that does not require reference points must be developed to maximize spatial freedom, which is the advantage of velocity measurements using drone images. In this study, a technique for calculating the surface velocity that uses only the drone position and the specifications of the drone-mounted camera, without reference points, was developed. To verify the developed surface velocity calculation technique, surface velocities were calculated at the Andong River Experiment Center and then measured with a FlowTracker. The surface velocities measured by conventional SIV using reference points and those calculated by the developed SIV method without reference points were compared. The results confirmed an average difference of approximately 4.70% from the velocity obtained by the conventional SIV and approximately 4.60% from the velocity measured by FlowTracker. The proposed technique can accurately measure the surface velocity using a drone regardless of the flight altitude, shooting area, and analysis area.

극소형 MEMS 우주망원경 탑재체 개발 및 탑재

  • 초소형전기기계시스템(MEMS: Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems) 기술로 제작된 마이크로미러 어레이를 장착한 MEMS 우주망원경은 특유의 광시야각 감시, 목표 확인, 확대 및 고속 추적 기능을 가지며 고층대기에서의 초대형 방전현상과 같이 넓은 영역에서 드물게 임의로 일어나는 섬광현상을 관측하기에 최적이다. 러시아 과학위성 Tatiana-2의 주 탑재체로 선정된 극소형 MEMS 우주망원경 MTEL(MEMS Telescope for Extreme Lightning)은 광시야각 감시와 목표 확인을 위한 트리거망원경, 목표 확대와 고속추적을 위한 확대망원경 및 섬광현상의 분광측정을 위한 분광계로 구성되어 있다. 1년간의 개발 및 성능 검증 후 MTEL은 위성탑재를 위한 모든 우주인증 시험을 성공적으로 마쳤다. 현재 MTEL은 Tatiana-2 위성에 탑재되어 있으며, 9월 18일에 우주로 발사되어 1-3년간 800km 궤도를 비행하며 지구 대기에서 발생하는 섬광현상을 관측할 예정이다. 이 발표에서는 MTEL 탑재체의 설계, 제작, 성능 측정 및 calibration 결과를 보고하고, 위성탑재를 위한 진동 및 충격, 열, 진공 및 전자기파 적합성 등의 우주인증 시험 결과 또한 보고한다. 또한 발사 후 과학위성 및 MTEL의 이 발표 때까지의 우주에서의 상황을 보고한다.
