헬륨냉동계통의 헬륨가스 순도 제어 운전

  • 헬륨냉동계통은 연구용 원자로인 하나로에서 냉중성자를 생산할 수 있도록 설치된 수조내기기 내의 감속재인 수소가 정상적으로 열 사이펀을 유지하기 위한 주요 계통이다. 헬륨냉동계통은 헬륨가스를 압축하는 헬륨 압축부분과 헬륨가스를 팽창시켜 저온을 생성시키는 헬륨 팽창부분으로 나누어진다. 헬륨 압축부분은 두 개의 스크류가 맞물려 회전하면서 약 1.05 bar(a)의 헬륨가스를 최대 13 bar(a)까지 압축시키는 압축기가 있으며, 헬륨 팽창부분인 냉동박스의 팽창 터빈은 self-acting gas bearing에 의해 구동되며, 저온모드 운전 시작시 헬륨 압축부분에서 일부의 가스는 팽창 터빈 축(shaft)으로 유입되어 회전속도가 서서히 증가하면서 고속으로 회전하여 극저온의 헬륨가스(14~18 K)를 생성하는 주요 기기이다. 헬륨을 팽창하는 부분인 냉동박스 내로 헬륨 압축가스를 유입하기 전에 압축된 헬륨가스 내 불순물의 순도를 분석하여 냉동박스의 주요 부품인 팽창터빈의 운전에 영향을 미치지 않는 것이 가장 중요하다. 따라서 헬륨 저압측에 헬륨가스 내 불순물 즉, 수소($H_2$), 수분($H_2O$), 질소($N_2$), 탄화수소류(CxHy) 및 오일(Oilaerosol) 등의 함량을 분석하기위해 가스 분석기가 설치되어 있으며, 냉동박스 내로 유입되기 전에 헬륨압축에서 순환되는 가스 내 불순물인 수분, 질소, 탄화수소류 및 오일은 10 vpm 이하이어야 하며, 수소 함량은 0.1 % 이내이어야 한다. 헬륨 압축부분에서 순환되는 가스의 불순물이 요구 조건에 만족하도록 헬륨 고압측과 헬륨 저압측에 cryogenic adsorber를 설치하여 가스 내 불순물을 제거하는 가스순도제어 작업을 수행해야 한다. cryogenic adsorber를 사용하기 위해서는 장치 내의 불순 가스를 공정진공도(1.33 X $10^{-3}$ mbar) 이하로 진공배기하는 작업이 매우 중요하다. 이는 계통의 헬륨가스가 오염되지 않도록 하는 것으로 cryogenic adsorber 내에는 액체질소를 충전하여 액체질소 온도에 노출된 활성탄층을 헬륨가스가 흐르면서 수분, 질소, 탄화수소류 및 오일 등이 제거된다. 이 논문에서는 헬륨냉동계통의 가스 순도 제어 작업을 통해 헬륨가스의 순도가 요구조건 이하로 만족하며, 팽창 터빈의 운전에 영향을 미치지 않음을 기술하고자 한다.

Effect of Suction Temperature and Compressor Frequency on Oil Circulation Ratio in a $CO_2$ Refrigeration System ($CO_2$ 냉동시스템에서 압축기의 흡입온도와 운전주파수가 오일 순환량에 미치는 영향)

  • The quantity of discharged oil from a compressor is one of the most important issues for proper operation of refrigeration system. If the oil is increased in the system not only pressure drop is increased in other components, such as evaporator and gas cooler but also heat transfer coefficient in the heat exchangers is decreased. In addition, the lack of oil in the compressor may cause a critical of the system failure. In this study, one stage single rotary compressor is used for measuring oil circulation ratio(OCR). Carbon dioxide and PAG oil are used as refrigerant and lubricant. Using a U-tube densimeter, mixture density is measured. Characteristics of oil circulation ratio have been investigated for $CO_2$ rotary compressor in the range of operation frequency 45 Hz to 63 Hz and the suction temperature range of $0^{\circ}C$ to $15^{\circ}C$. The results obtained indicate that the oil circulation ratio is increased as the suction temperature or compressor operating frequency is increased.

  • The oil trap in oil separator is one of the most important characteristics for normal operation of compressor. In this study, oil separation characteristics has been investigated for $CO_2$/PAG mixture using a gravity type of oil separator. The experimental study has been carried out in the range of oil concentration 0 to 5 weight-percent and the mixture temperature range of $0^{\circ}C$ to $15^{\circ}C$. The results obtained indicate that oil separation ratio in oil separator is increased with an increase in the oil concentration and mixture temperature.

  • This study has been conducted to select the suitable refrigeration oil for a $CO_2$ refrigeration system. Non-hygroscopic property of refrigeration oils is one of the most important properties for refrigeration oils. PAG and POE oils are considered as test oils in this study. Transient variation of water content of PAG and POE oils was measured for 3 different vessels in the environmental conditions, such as in the range of temperature $25^{\circ}C$ to $40^{\circ}C$ and relative humidity 40% to 85%. The results obtained that water content of both POE and PAG is increased with an increase in the contact area with ambient for 3 different vessels. It is also found that water content of both POE and PAG is increased as the ambient temperature and relative humidity is increased. Non-hygroscopic property of POE oil is found to be much superior than that of PAG oil.

Development of an Automatic Refrigerant Charging Device for Refrigeration Applications (냉동기용 자동 냉매 충전장치 개발)

  • Manual type manifold gauge has been used for charging the refrigerant in the refrigeration systems. In this case, the refrigerant is released to the ambient during the hose-switching period. :he objectives of this study are to develop a novel automatic refrigerant charging system, and to quantify the effect of the automatic systems on the reduction of the non-condensable gas and the contamination of the compressor oil. The automatic charging system makes the pressure test, vacuum test, and refrigerant charging work very simple and easy because the charging hose does not have to be switched many times. It is found that the amount of water in the SiO$_2$and the compressor oil reduces to l/4 times of that for the manual type manifold gauge and the refrigerant is not released to the ambient at all when the automatic charging system is adopted.

  • Vapor pressure of HFC-404a and polyol ester system were measured at 56 points from 263.15 to 323.15 K and from 0 to 90 mass %polyol ester. It was found that below 273.15 K, the effect of the polyol ester on the vapor pressure was negligible up to 30 mass % polyol ester. The vapor pressure of the system significantly decreased as the mass fraction of polyol ester increased over 50 percent. Raoult's model and Flory-Huggins model were tested for data reduction. Empirical vapor pressure equations were obtained in terms of temperature and mass fraction of polyol ester.

The Effects of Oil on Refrigerant Flow through Capillary Tubes (냉동기유가 모세관내의 냉매유량에 미치는 영향)

  • An experimental study was conducted to analyze the effects of oil on refrigerant flow through adiabatic capillary tubes, and to develop a model for mass flow rates of refrigerant/oil mixture at various capillary tubes and flow conditions. Mass flow rates and the profiles of the pressures and temperatures along the capillary tubes was obtained with the oil concentration of R-22/SUNISO 4GS oil mixture at various test conditions. The flow trends as a function of geometry and flow conditions for pure refrigerant and refrigerant/oil mixture were similar in adiabatic capillary tubes. Mass flow rate of the refrigerant/oil mixture was less than that of pure refrigerant at the same test conditions.

  • Refrigerant oil reduces friction between piston and cylinder of compressor and is normally hard to mix or dissolve in refrigerant. Oil separator deprives refrigerating oil from mixed solution of refrigerant and refrigerant oil. Sometimes much machine oil is carried into an evaporator and is applied to surface of the evaporator, and then disturbs heat transfer through it. Well-made oil separator helps refrigerating system stable and evaporator sustain full capacity. In this paper, new oil separate with different way to structure is suggested and tested. As result the new separates is 13% higher at 0C with 10% mixture and 6% higher at 0C with 20% mixture.
