It is well known that the ultimate compressive strength of concrete filled tubular stub-column is higher than that of the simplified evaluating value because of the confinement effect of infilled concrete. In this paper, It is compared the experimental results of other researchers with estimated ones by using the formulae. Finally, It is shown that the predicted equation is obtained by using the numerical analysis.

Although leakage at a low carbon steel pipe made by electrical resistance welding(ERW) was reported due to grooving corrosion, the cause for the corrosion has not yet been cleared. So lots of researches were carried out already about grooving corrosion mechanism of ERW carbon steel pipe but there is seldom study for water hammer happened by fluid phenomenon and corrosion rate by flow velocity. In this study, the corrosion test carried out using the ERW carbon steel pipe by changed the water speed and heat input in a month. The level of dissolved oxygen is maintained 5~5.5mg/l(amount of dissolved oxygen in tap water). The water speed for corrosion test is 1m/s, 2m/s, 3m/s. As the results, grooving corrosion rate is increased cause by water speed in the pipe. In the case of the ERW pipe with more heat input, grooving corrosion rate is decreased. It is therefore that welding heat input should be controlled based on the carbon content of the pipe in order to improve the corrosion reistance of the ERW pipe.

Expandable steel pipe piles are installed by inserting expansion equipment to increase the cross-sectional area of steel pipes, which can improve the pile performance compared to micro-piles. In this paper, a hydraulic expansion device was developed to expand steel pipe piles in practice. A series of laboratory and field tests were conducted to verify the performance of the developed expansion device to expand steel pipes. The expansion capability and expandable range was evaluated by measuring the strain and expansion time at the maximum pressure of the hydraulic expansion device. The thinner steel pipe, the larger strain but longer expansion time required in the test. For example, the 4.0-mm-thick steel pipe showed strain reduction by 30% and a decrease in the required expansion time by 40% compared to the 2.9-mm-thick steel pipe. In addition, in-situ expansion tests were performed to verify the expandability of steel pipes under the ground, and the exhumed specimen showed clear expanded sections. The structural integrity was determined by comparing the material performance the original and expanded specimens.
In the conventional axial load transfer analysis for composite piles (i.e., steel pipe pile filled with concrete), it was assumed that the concrete's strain is same as the measured steel's strain and the elastic modulus of the steel and the concrete calculated by formular as prescribed by specification is used in calculation of pile axial load. But, the pile axial load calculated by conventional method had some difference with the actual pile load. So, the behavior of a composite pile could not be analyzed exactly. Thus, the necessity to measure the strain for each pile components was proposed. In this study, the verification test for DRS (Deformable Rod Sensor) developed to measure the strain of each pile component (i.e., the steel and the concrete) was performed. In the calculation of pile axial load using the DRS, elastic modulus of concrete could be determined by the uniaxial compression test for the concrete cylinder samples made in the test site and an average tangential modulus in the stress range of (0.2∼0.6)f$_ck$ was taken.
This study investigated to the properties of structural behaviors through a series of experiment with the key parameter, such as diameter-to-thickness(D/t) ratio, selenderness ratio of steel t~ube and strength of concrete under loading condition simple confined concrete by steel tube as a fundmental study on adaptability with structural members in high-rise building. The obtained results are sumnarised as follow. (1) The fracture mode of confined concrete was presented digonal tension fracture in the direction of $45^{\circ}$ with compression failure at the end of specimen in stub column, but the fracture mode of long column was assumed an aspect of bending fracture transversely. (2) The deformation capacity and ductility effect was increased by confine steel tube for concrete. (3) 'The emprical formula to predict the ultimate capacity of confined concrete by steel tube and concrete filled steel tube column using restraint of concrete considered D / t ratio, selenderness ratio of steel tube anti strength of' concrete were proposed.

Concrete filled steel tube system has two major advantages. First, the confinement effect of steel tube improves the compressive strength of concrete. Second, the load capacity and deformation capacity of members are improved because concrete restrains local buckling of steel tube. It does, however, involve workability problem of using stud bolts or anchor bolts to provide composite effect for larger cross-sections. While the ribs inside the columns are desirable in terms of compressive behavior, they cause the deterioration in load capacity upon in-plane deformation resulting from thermal deformation. Since the ribs are directly connected with the concrete, the deformation of the ribs accelerates concrete cracking. Thus, it is required to improve the toughness of the concrete to resist the deformation of the ribs. Welding built-up tubular square columns can secure safety in terms of fire resistance if the problem are solved. This study focuses on mixing steel fiber in the concrete to improve the ductility and toughness of the columns. In order to evaluate fire resistance performance, loaded heating test was conducted with 8 specimens. The behavior and thermal deformation capacity of the specimens were analyzed for major variables including load ratio. The reliability of heat transfer and thermal stress analysis model was verified through the comparison of the results between the test and previous study.

An experiment was carried out to investigate the mechanical behaviour of the circular hollow section reinforced concrete member with internal corrugated steel tube. A specimen, 50cm in diameter and 340cm in length, was made and tested by 3 points bending. The test load was increased slowly (quasi static) to the failure or unacceptable deformation. During the test, lateral displacement at mid point and longitudinal displacement of extreme fiber on compressive and tensile side of the specimen were measured. The measured data were analysed and compared with calculated results for the equivalent member without inserted corrugated steel tube. The comparison shows that the flexural strength and ductility of hollow section reinforced concrete members can be improved by inserting corrugated steel tubes inside.
In order to clarify the behavior of beam-to-concrete filled steel tube column under cyclic loading condition, experimental studies were carried out on shear connections. Test parameters of this study are the width-to-thickness ratio and the effect on beams with or without slab and diaphragm. Test results show that the moment-rotation relationships of connections without slab are in the range of AISC regulation of pinned connections and the rotation capacity of connection is dependent upon the width-to-thickness ratio of the column.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the strength and behavior of the composite member in case of concrete filled steel tube embedded in concrete for application concrete filled steel tube to steel rib support in tunnel. A total of six beam specimens were prepared for steel tube in-filled with plain concrete and aerated concrete, and static bending tests were performed. As a result, the member of concrete steel tube embedded with plain concrete showed higher strength than those with aerated concrete. However, it was found that the flexural strength of member with reinforcing bar around the steel tube is more influenced by the amount of the reinforcing bar than the type of the filled concrete.
The main objective of this paper is finding the influence factors and their degree of importance to steel liner's safety by investigating and evaluating the buckling incidents of steel tunnel liner under external water pressure. The study was based on the detailed investigation to the design conditions and incident shapes at 2m diameter waterway tunnel with a partially buckled internal steel liner and concrete backfilled lining as the raw water transmission pipe line of regional water supply project. Appropriate buckling theory capable of applying this incident points was selected by referring the existing literature and compared with the results of investigation. Also, hydrogeological characteristics of this site on buckling pressure was evaluated. The result of this study was shown that both the hydrogeological characteristics of upper geologic layers and proper tunnel construction are important factors on buckling at steel liner, and hydraulic gradient level should be decided according to the hydrogeological characteristics. This incident case analysis on steel liner of pressurized waterway tunnel was expected to provide more information for realizing the problems and improvements at each design, construction and maintenance stages.
