This study was conducted to examine the reliability and validity of the internet (IOS-Q), Game (GOS-Q), and Smartphone (SOS-Q) Overuse Screening Questionnaires in a large community sample of adolescents. To achieve this goal, data from 9,336 middle school students (male: 4,796, female: 4,540) was divided into two groups and analyzed by conducting confirmatory factor analysis and exploratory factor analysis, respectively. We conducted another confirmatory factor analysis on a separate sample of data from 4,536 elementary school students (male: 2,260 male, female: 2,276) and 6,551 middle school students (male: 3,013, female: 3,538) from other populations. As a result of factor analysis, IOS-Q was consisted of 17 items, GOS-Q was consisted of 19 items, and SOS-Q was consisted of 18 items. The IOS-Q and GOS-Q factors were psychological dependence, failure to control use despite recognizing problems, dangerous use, and reduced interest in other areas while the SOS-Q factors were dangerous and obsessive use, failure to control use despite recognizing problems, reduced interest in other areas, and withdrawal/tolerance. Each factor reflected the major facets of behavioral addiction or impulse control disorder, and the questionnaires had good internal consistencies of .880-.915. Latent profile and ROC analyses were conducted to determine cutoff points for screening high-risk groups. Lastly, theoretical and practical implications as well as the limitations of this study were discussed.
The purpose of this study was to explore the latent profiles of social achievement goals and to investigate the differences in peer status (perceived popularity, social preference) and aggression (overt, relational, cyber) among those profile groups. Social achievement goals and cyber aggression data was acquired through self-reporting, and perceived popularity, social preference, and overt and relational aggression were assessed through peer nomination. Applying the latent profile analysis(LPA) to 1,239 elementary school students, three distinct groups of social achievement goals were identified: a development-oriented achievement goal group, an average social goal group, and a overall-high social achievement goal group. Using logistic regression analysis, the relationships between the latent group, peer status, and aggression were examined. The result indicated that the higher the social preference, the lower the probability of belonging to the 'overall-high social achievement goal group'. And the higher the cyber aggression, the lower the probability of belonging to the 'development-oriented achievement goal group'. In addition, the higher the relational aggression of the second time, the higher the probability of belonging to the 'overall-high social achievement goal group' as compared to the 'average social goal group'.
Team-Based Learning can play an important role in gifted education, because that improve decision making, coordination and problem-solving ability through shapely team activity. So, when a program that founded on Team-Based Learning applied to gifted students, investigated the improved effects of creative problem solving ability. Developed programs consisted of total 10 times and were conducted the lesson for 13student (male 3, female 10) of 4, 5th grade gifted students class in S elementary school, Sancheong-gun. The improved effects of creative problem solving ability were selected as the self-checking tool of creative problem-solving ability. Due to a small number of students, nonparametric test has done with the results of before and after, it showed significantly improvements in significance level of 5%. In particular, there was a significant improvement in the field of divergent thinking, critical logical thinking. Therefore, the programs based on Team-Based Learning are effective for enhance creative problem solving ability of gifted students, they will be used widely in the classroom to require creative problem solving ability or the acquisition of knowledge of gifted students.
This study was carried out to investigate the obesity prevalence and relationship between the degree of obesity and risk for coronary heart disease in elementary school children in Kyungbuk area from 1996 to 1998. One hundred eighty obese children aged 8 yrs through 11 yrs(112 boys : 68 girls) were chosen depending on the criteria of obesity degree, and then the subjects were classified into one of three groups according to the degree of obesity; mild(20-29%), moderate(30-49%), and severe( $\geq$ 50%) obesity, fasting blood was collected in the morning, and body fat, plasma total cholesterol, HDL-cholesterol, and triglyceride were measured. LDL-cholesterol and atherogenic index were also calculated. The obesity prevalence increased from 7.1% in 1996 to 9.5% in 1998. As body fat level increased, blood triglyceride level increased(p < 0.001). As the degree of obesity increased, the level of blood triglyceride(p < 0.001) and systolic blood pressure(p < 0.05) also increased. The risk fur coronary heart disease based on criteria of the level of total-cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol and atherogenic index increased from 6.9%,1.4% and 13.9% in 1996 to 28.3%, 18.7% and 17.0% in 1998, respectively. The number of risk factors relating to coronary hero disease increased, as the degree of obesity increased, especially in girls. The results suggest that there is some potential relationship between children obesity and the incidence of coronary hero disease. Thus, this study implicates that desirable nutrition education may be needed for obese children.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of parental rearing attitudes on smartphone addiction and mediation effect of children's aggression and impulse between them. The randomly chosen 390 subjects of the 4th and 5th elementary school students (boy: 199, girl: 191) of J City participated in this research. The main scales were EMBU-Shot, Smartphone Addiction Scale and NEO-PAS. Spss 22.0 was used for its statistical analysis, that is correlation analysis and regression analysis. The main results are as follows. First, parental rearing attitude, smartphone addiction, and aggression and impulse were statistically significantly correlated. Second, it is testified that rejective parental rearing attitudes statistically significantly increasingly influenced smartphone addiction with partial mediation of aggression and impulse. Also overprotective parental rearing attitudes statistically significantly increasingly influenced smartphone addiction with full mediation of them. It suggested the importance of intervention for aggression and impulse of the children with smartphone addiction as well as parental rearing attitude changes in intervening and counseling them. This study tried to supply evidence-based and basic data for the developing preventive education and counseling programs for them. The limit and future tasks were discussed.
The purpose of this study was to identify the body shape satisfaction and body shape esteem according to the state of obesity in elementary school students. The data were collected from May 1st to 31th, 1999 using the questionnaire and the physical examination record. The subjects were 669 in 12-year old children. Data were analyzed with frequency, percentages, crosstabs, ANOVA, pearson correlation using the SPSS program. The results were as follows: 1. The prevalence of overweight was 14.0% of total students, 21.4% of mail students and 6.6 % of female students. 2. There were significant differences in the body shape satisfaction according to the state of obesity in total students(($chi^2$ = 110.31, p = .000), in mail students(($chi^2$ = 99.97, p = .000), in female students(($chi^2$ = 62.23, p = .000). The percentages of the body shape satisfaction were highest the underweight group in total and female students but in mail students the normal weight group was highest 3. There were significant differences in the body shape esteem according to the state of obesity in total students(F = 8.634, p = .000), in mail students(F = 11.738, p = .000), in female students(F = 4.502, p = .004). The mean scores of body shape esteem were highest the normal weight group in total students, overweight group in mail students and underweight group in female students. The higher the state of obesity was, the lower body shape esteem. 4. The relationships between body shape satisfaction, body shape esteem and obesity index were significant. Obesity index were significantly and negatively related to body shape satisfaction(r = -.2081, P = .000), to body shape esteem(r = -.2250, p = .000). 5. There were significant differences in the state of obesity according to sex(($chi^2$ = 88.136, p = .000) and the perception of body shape(($chi^2$ = 242.371, p = .000) in total students. There were significant differences in the state of obesity according to the body shape of father(($chi^2$ = 15.11, p = .019), the perception of body shape(($chi^2$ = 138.95, p = .000) in mail students. There were significant differences in the state of obesity according to the education of mother(($chi^2$ = 19.46, p = .022), the perception of body shape(($chi^2$ = 143.35, p = .000) in female students.

This study examined the satisfaction of a school milk program as well as the preference of school milk and flavored milk. The subjects of this study were $4^{th}$
, $5^{th}$ and $6^{th}$ grade students in 4 different elementary schools, who were attending the school milk program in Ulsan. The survey was conducted from April 10, 2009 to April 30, 2009. Of the 403 questionnaires distributed, 347 responded and analyzed (usage rate: 86%). The results were as follows. Of the 347 respondents, 53.9% were boys and 46.1% were girls. 34%, 31.1% and 34.9% of the students were $4^{th}$, $5^{th}$ and $6^{th}$ graders, respectively. Second, 80.1% of the students reported 'have milk everyday', and 89.9% of the students reported 'have milk as it is'. Third, the overall satisfaction with the school milk program was 3.32 based on a 5-point likert scale, the 'guidance of nutrition teachers and class teacher' was 3.21 and 'taste of school milk' was 3.37. There were significant positive correlations between the school milk satisfaction variables and overall satisfaction (p<0.01). Fourth, the preference for school milk was 3.33. The preference for flavored-milk were 3.63 (coffee milk), 4.44 (chocolate milk), 4.16 (strawberry milk), 4.26 (banana milk) and 3.53 (black bean milk). Fifth, to improve the school milk program, 85.9% of students wanted a provision for flavored milk. In conclusion, schools need to find a way to increase the satisfaction of the school milk program and the preference of school milk to increase the milk intake of students. Nutrition education for students and parents should be conducted systematically and choices for various kinds of milk and milk products should be given to the students.

This article aims to (a) investigate children's images of a scientist's life style by comparing children's drawings about a scientist's schedule with those about a company employee's schedule in a weekday and on Sunday; and (b) examine the usefulness of 'Drawing A Scientist's Schedule (DASS)' test as a new instrument of learners' conceptions of a scientist and his/her work. To do those, thirty sixth- grade children participated in this study. The children, 15 boys and 15 girls, were selected from a classroom of an elementary school located in Gongju city. The children's drawings were analyzed in conjunction with individual interviews. The interviews facilitated the clarification of any ambiguous attributes of the drawings by questioning after their completion. Several significant conclusions can be drawn from this work: First, the children conceived that a scientist has more mandatory time, and less necessary and leisure time than does a company employee. Interestingly, many children thought that a scientist has similar life style on Sunday to that in a weekday, unlike a company employee. Second, in case of necessary time use in a weekday and on Sunday, the difference between a scientist and a company employee results from their sleeping time. Also, the children showed more various conceptions of a scientist's sleeping time than those of a company employee's sleeping time. Third, in case of mandatory time use, the children conceived that a scientist spends more time for his/her occupational work and less time for his/her housework activities than does a company employee. Fourth, the children's drawings showed that there is difference between a scientist's and a company employee's leisure time use and activities. Finally, the DASS test indicated its possibility and usefulness as an instrument for investigating learners' images on a scientist and his/her work. The instrument exhibited several distinctive children's conceptions that is difficult in identifying by using the DAST, a popular instrument.
The purpose of this study is to investigate snacking behavior of high school students. The subjects were 1,587 students (684 male, 903 female) in Seoul and Paju. The highest number of eating snacks was 'once(39.9%)' per day, and they preferred 'milk and cookies' and 'fruit.' For the result of reasons for choosing a snack, they chose 'what I want to have (59.6%)' most and 'snacks don't affect eating meals (48.0%).' Also, compared with the ones with 'an elementary school diploma,' the percentage of those with 'a middle school diploma' was higher in 'having snacks once or three times' according to father's education level(p<0.05). In snack types and general characteristics, they chose 'milk and cookies' when their expenses range 'under 50000 won' and '100,000 won' and 'fruit' when '70,000won' and 'over 100,000 won (p<0.05).' In the reasons for choosing a snack, younger mothers(30-50ages) said 'what I want to have' while elder mothers($$\geq_-51ages$$) 'depending on my mood.' Also, the respondents whose mothers had 'a high school diploma' answered 'what I want to have' the most (p<0.05). Especially, in case of effects after eating snack, they answered 'poor meals (35.5%)' whose mother's job was professional. These results suggest that the general characteristics of family environment may affect snacking behavior among high school students. They need a guideline to help select healthy snacks for desirable eating behavior.
The purpose of the study was to develop an eating habit checklist for screening elementary school children at risk of inadequate micronutrient intake. Eating habits, food intake, and anthropometric data were collected from 142 children (80 boys and 62 girls) in the $4^{th}$ to $6^{th}$ grades of elementary schools. Percentage of Recommended Intakes (RI) and Mean Adequacy Ratio (MAR) of six micronutrients; vitamin A, riboflavin, vitamin C, calcium, iron, zinc, and the number of nutrients the children consumed below EAR among the six nutrients were used as indices to detect the risk of inadequate micronutrient intake. Pearson correlation coefficients were calculated between eating habit scores and inadequate micronutrient intake indices in order to select questions included in the checklist. Meal frequency, enough time for breakfast, regularity of dinner, appetite, eating frequencies of Kimchi, milk, fruits and beans showed significant correlations with indices of inadequate micronutrient intake. Stepwise regression analysis was performed to give each item a different weight by prediction strength. To determine the cut-off point of the test score, sensitivity, specificity, and positive predictive values were calculated. The 8-item checklist with test results from 0 to 12 points was developed, and those with equal or higher than 6 points were diagnosed as high-risk group of inadequate micronutrient intake, and those with 4 or 5 points were diagnosed as moderate-risk group. Among our subjects 14.1% was diagnosed as high-risk group, and 30.3% as moderate-risk group. The proportions of the subjects who consumed below EAR of all micronutrients but vitamin C were highest in the high-risk group, and there were significant differences in the proportions of the subjects with intake below EAR of all micronutrients except vitamin B6 among the three groups. This checklist will provide a useful screening tool to identify children at risk of inadequate micronutrient intake.
