The purpose of this study was to investigate the analysis on exercise effect of basic physical fitness, flexibility and muscle function using electric horseback riding machine. Subjects were ten males and ten females who were 20th aged young adults. They exercised every 45-min a day. Horse riding exercise has progressed 3-days a week till 4-weeks. We measured contents of basic physical fitness, flexibility and joint torque in lumbar. The results showed that contents of human body effect were higher than before exercise. We thought that stimulated by 3-D movement in horseback riding exercise instrument could be activated joints and muscles with the unused generally This continuous movement could reduce tonus of muscle and relax stiff muscles. horseback riding have significant effect with whole body exercise, also it could provide efficient exercise for the elder and disabled person.
This experiment was designed to explore the specific functional interrelations between the vestibular semicircular canals and the extraocular muscles which may disclose the neural organization, connecting the vestibular canals and each ocular motor nuclei in the brain system, for vestibuloocular reflex mechanism. In urethane anesthetized rabbits, a fine wire insulated except the cut cross section of its tip was inserted into the canals closely to the ampullary receptor organs through the minute holes provided on the osseous canal wall for monopolar stimulation of each canal nerve. All extraocular muscles of both eyes were ligated and cut at their insertio, and the isometric tension and EMG responses of the extraocular muscles to the vestibular canal nerve stimulation were recorded by means of a physiographic recorder. Upon stimulation of the semicircular canal nerve, direction if the eye movement was also observed. The experimental results were as follows. 1) Single canal nerve stimulation with high frequency square waves (240 cps, 0. 1 msec) caused excitation of three extraocular muscles and inhibition of remaining three muscles in the bilateral eyes; stimulation of any canal nerve of a unilateral labyrinth caused excitation (contraction) of the superior rectus, superior oblique and medial rectus muscles and inhibition (relaxation) of the inferior rectus, inferior oblique and lateral rectos muscles in the ipsilateral eye, and it caused the opposite events in the contralateral eye. 2) By the overlapped stimulation of triple canal nerves of a unilateral labyrinth, unidirectional (excitatory or inhibitory) summation of the individual canal effects on a given extraocular muscles was demonstrated, and this indicates that three different canals of a unilateral vestibular system exert similar effect on a given extraocular muscles. 3) Based on the above experimental evidences, a simple rule by which one can define the vestibular excitatory and inhibitory input sources to all the extraocular muscles is proposed; the superior rectus, superior oblique and medial rectus muscles receive excitatory impulses from the ipsilateral vestibular canals, and the inferior rectus, inferior oblique and lateral rectus muscles from the contralateral canals; the opposite relationship applies for vestibular inhibitory impulses to the extraocular muscles. 4) According to the specific direction of the eye movements induced by the individual canal nerve stimulation, an extraocutar muscle exerting major role (a muscle of primary contraction) and two muscles of synergistic contraction could be differentiated in both eyes. 5) When these experimental results were compared to the well known observations of Cohen et al. (1964) made in the cats, extraocular muscles of primary contraction were the same but those of synergistic contraction were partially different. Moreover, the oblique muscle responses to each canal nerve excitation appeared to be all identical. However, the responnes of horizontal (medial and lateral) and vertical (superior and inferior) rectus muscles showed considerable differences. By critical analysis of these data, the author was able to locate theoretical contradictions in the observations of Cohen et al. but not in the author's results. 6) An attempt was also made to compare the functional observation of this experiment to the morphological findings of Carpenter and his associates obtained by degeneration experiments in the monkeys, and it was able to find some significant coincidence between there two works of different approach. In summary, the author has demonstrated that the well known observations of Cohen et al. on the vestibulo-ocular interrelation contain important experimental errors which can he proved by theoretical evaluation and substantiated by a series of experiments. Based on such experimental evidences, a new rule is proposed to define the interrelation between the vestibular canals and the extraocular muscles.
For the development of a biological control method against B. cereus in cheonggukjang, 20 Bacillus spp. were isolated from the naturally fermented baektae and heuktae cheonggukjang, identified by using 16S rDNA sequences. Among the isolated strains, Bacillus sp. SC-8 was selected using the B. cereus lawn cell assay as an antagonistic microorganism against B. cereus. The culture medium of Bacillus sp. SC-8 after 24 hr of incubation at $37^{\circ}C$ also evidenced a high level of antagonistic activity. In cheonggukjang fermented with the mixed culture of Bacillus sp. SC-8 and B. cereus, antagonistic effect against B. cereus was maintained during the fermentation of cheonggukjang, while its effect was reduced during storage at $4^{\circ}C$ due to the decrement of cell population of Bacillus sp. SC-8. In Bacillus sp. SC-15, which was utilized a control, antagonistic activity against B. cereus was not demonstrated on the lawn cell plate assay and culture medium, but its effects were detected in cheonggukjang. Therefore, the production of antagonistic substances of Bacillus spp. depends on the fermentative environment.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the characteristics between EMG timing of muscle contraction and motor impairment in chronic hemiplegic stroke patients. Delay time and co-contraction of 4 patients who had stroke less than 3 years were measured during isometric wrist flexion and extension along the 3 seconds beep signal. Onset and offset of muscle contraction were significantly delayed on the more affected sides than control sides. Offset was significantly delayed than the onset on the affected sides in wrist flexion. Also, recruitment of antagonist was larger than agonist on the affected sides. Co-contraction ratio on the affected side was significantly smaller than control sides in wrist flexion. In affected sides, Fugl-Meyer motor assessment(FMA) shows the correlation of onset delay in wrist flexion and extension. However, co-contraction ratio correlated with FMA in wrist flexion. EMG assessment is likely to be useful outcome measure and provide insights into mechanism for motor recovery in stroke patients.
The purpose of this study was to determine the efficient way of stretching technique from three methods, and of stretching duration and frequency. Sretching is known to improve musculotendinous flexibility and joint suppleness, and employed in many warm-up routines during physical activities and athletic performances. The benefits and the rationale of stretching have been reviewed. Many authors agree that, for the best results, static stretching has to be held for approximately 30 sec. in a trial, three trials in a session, at least three times a week for four weeks. Further clinical studies are required for elucidating more informations on this subject.

Trichoderma spp. are an effective control agent for damping-off or other plant diseases. The interaction between. T. hamatum and Rhizoctonia solani on the rhizosphere or surface soil were examined to assess the possible roles of antibiosis or competition in the mechanisms of biological control agents as a basic research. In a proportional comparison, total bacteria, fungi, actinomycetes and Trichoderma spp were 65%, 8.8%, 25.9% and 0.28% respectively in their distribution in the soil. Among Trichoderma spp isolated, the 5 species of Trichoderma spp were indentified as T. koninggii, T. pseudokoninggii, T. aureoviridi, T. hamatum and T. viride respectively. In a mycoparasitic test, one isolate of T. hamatum strain Tr-5 showed an enzymatic ability to break fungal hyphae into piecies and infected on the R. solani hyphae showing a parasitism. Spore germination of the all isolates of Trichoderma spp showed a 1.7-7.3% of germination in natural soil conditions, but the percentage was high in sterile soil indicating all the natural soil were fungistatic on conidia of Trichoderma spp. In rhizosphere competent assay in pea plant, the antagonistic T. hamatum, T. viride, T. koninggii, T. pseudokoninggii showed a colonizing upper soil depth in rhizosphere around 1-3 cm in root zone, but the colonizing ability was much reduced along the deeper the soil depth. Propagule density was decreased in deeper the soil layer. Disease development rate treated alone with plant pathogens, Fusarium solani, Rhizoctonia solani, Cylindrocarpon destructans increased, but disease incidence rate reduced in treatment with combinations with antagonistic T. hamatum strain Tr-5.
The Neuron structure in a nervous system consists of inhibitory neurons and excitory neurons. Both neurons are activated by agonistic neurons and inactivated by antagonist neurons. In this paper, we proposed a physiological fuzzy neural network by analyzing the physiological neuron structure in the nervous system. The proposed structure selectively activates the neurons which go through a state of excitement caused by agonistic neurons and also transmit the signal of these neurons to the output layers. The proposed physiological fuzzy neural networks based on the nervous system consists of a input player, and the hidden layer which classifies features of learning data, and output layer. The proposed fuzzy neural network is applied to recognize bronchial squamous cell carcinoma images and car plate images. The result of the experiments shows that the learning time, the convergence, and the recognition rate of the proposed physiological fuzzy neural networks outperform the conventional neural networks.
Purpose: The goal of this study was to evaluate differences in strength deficits between (i) patients with stage 1 or 2 impingement syndrome and (ii) patients with rotator cuff tears. Materials and Methods: We enrolled 43 patients with stage 1 or 2 impingement syndrome (group 1) and 21 patients with rotator cuff tears (group 2). The isokinetic strength of both groups was evaluated at $60^{\circ}/sec$ for external rotation, internal rotation, adduction and abduction. We measured the peak torque, total work, average power of bilateral sides, peak torque relationship to body weight, and the ratio between unilateral agonist and antagonist. Results: The isokinetic strength deficits assessed in ratio of peak torque to body weight for group 1 and group 2 respectively were; $28.48{\pm}23.76%$ and $29.12{\pm}32.81%$ for abduction (p=0.929), $7.20{\pm}13.98%$ and $18.94{\pm}19.52%$; for adduction (p=0.021), $16.88{\pm}13.76%$ and $25.80{\pm}24.07%$; for external rotation (p=0.221), and $14.1{\pm}25.67%$ and $29.02{\pm}35.06%$ for internal rotation (p=0.059). For average power and total work, group 2 showed a significantly greater deficit for adduction and internal rotation than group 1. Conclusion: Those with rotator cuff tears have more isokinetic muscle strength deficits than those with stage 1 or 2 impingement syndrome. Progression from stage 1 and 2 impingement syndrome to stage 3 may result in greatest changes in strength deficits for internal rotation and adduction.
This study aimed to investigate the existence of GABA receptor and the mechanisms of action of GABA and diazepam on the trachealis muscle isolated from dog. Horizontal muscle strips of $2mm{\times}15mm$ were prepared from canine trachea, and isometric myography in isolated muscle chamber bubbled with 95/5%-$O_2/CO_2$at $36^{\circ}C$, at the pH of 7.4 was performed. Muscle strips contracted responding to the electrical field stimulation (ESP) by 2~20 Hz, 20 msec, monophasic square wave of 60 VDC GABA and diazepam suppressed the EFS-induced contractions to the similar extent, significantly. (p<0.05) Bicuculline, a $GABA_A$ receptor antagonist blocked both GABA- and diazepam- inhibitions; but DAVA, a $GABA_B$ receptor antagonist did not affect either of them. These results suggest that in the canine trachealis muscle, there may be only $GABA_A$ receptor, and GABA and diazepam inhibit the contractility via $GABA_A$A receptor.
This study was aimed at investigation of the stimulatory innervations on the rat urinary bladder. Detrusor muscle strips of 15 mm long were suspended in isolated muscle chambers containing 1 ml of PSS maintained at $37^{\circ}C$ and aerated with 95% $O_2/5%CO_2$. Isometric myography was perfomed, and the results were as followings : Muscle strips showed "on-contraction" by electric field stimulation (EFS) frequency-dependently. The EFS-induced contraction was not affected by hexamethonium, a ganglion blocker, but abolished, by tetrodotoxin, a nerve conduction blocker. Physostigmine, a cholinesterase inhibitor enhanced the EFS-induced contraction which was inhibited by hemicholinium, an inhibitor of choline uptake at the cholinergic nerve ending. Such an EFS-induced contraction was antagonized by atropine only partially, and the atropine-resistant portion was completely abolished by the desensitization of purinergic receptors by prolonged incubatin of the strips in the presence of high concentratin of ATP. Bethanechol, a cholinergic agonist, elicited concentration-dependent contraction. Adenosine triphosphate (ATP), a purinergic agonist, induced a weak but concentration-dependent contraction of short duration. Bethanechol-induced contraction was not affected by ATP-desensitization, and ATP-induced contraction was not affected by tetrodotoxin. These results suggest that there are at least two main stimulatory components of innervations in the detrusor muscle, cholinergic muscarinic and purinergic ; and those receptors are independent each other.
