A Comparative Study of Notes in KDC and DDC (한국십진분류법과 듀이십진분류법에 나타난 주기의 다양성에 관한 비교 연구)

  • Notes in library classification systems are inevitable tools for creating and building of classification numbers. The purposes of this study are to make better notes in Korean Decimal Classification(KDC) by analyzing and comparing notes in other library classification system and to assign the most appropriate classification numbers based upon the better notes. In order to achieve these purposes, analyzing notes in Dewey Decimal Classification(DDC) and KDC was carried. And the comparison of notes used in 000 Computer science, information, general works in DDC and KDC was done. Based upon these analysis, additional notes and their various forms were suggested.

A Study of Classification System for Online Bookstore in Korea: Categories and Book Classification (한국 인터넷서점 분류체계 연구 - 카테고리와 도서 분류를 중심으로 -)

  • The purpose of the study is to investigate and analyze the categories of online bookstores and to propose improvements. For the study, the category conformity was compared among eight Korean online bookstores selected; the book classification on the categories was compared from them. The results show that the category conformity was high among online bookstores, but the book classification on the categories was different on the bookstores. ISBN contents classification codes for books might not help to classify the books on the categories. Thus, the study proposes a new publication category for the book classification on categories of online bookstores.

A Study on the Topical Associations of Simultaneously Borrowed Books in Public Libraries (공공도서관 동시 대출 도서의 주제 연관성 분석 연구)

  • There has been research to understand users' information behaviors using book circulation data of public libraries. In this study, we examined the subject areas of books simultaneously borrowed by users of public libraries and aimed to identify the relationships among the subject areas. To accomplish this, we utilized the Korean Decimal Classification codes of 984,790 loaned books in 2019 to transform the lists of concurrently borrowed books, totaling 22,443,699 records, by the same users on the same day, into vectors using the ITEM2VEC technique. Next, we extracted ten highly related classification codes for each classification code, utilizing a total of 522 classification codes to create a network. We identified 15 communities within this network and examined the characteristics of each community. Among the 15 communities, those consisting of two or more main classes allowed us to identify meaningful thematic associations. This study, grounded in users' book usage behaviors, has suggested the topics of books that could be borrowed together. The findings offer valuable insights for library collection development and placement, recommending related subject materials, and revising classification systems.

A Study of Simplifying Call Numbers with Collection Codes at Children's Libraries (컬렉션코드를 활용한 어린이도서관 청구기호 간략화 방안에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to suggest the collection codes and simplification of call numbers for children's easy access to the children's materials. The classification schemes, author tables, expansion of classification schemes, collections codes, classification numbers used in domestic and foreign children's libraries were surveyed through questionnaires and interviewing with librarians. As a result, in foreign children's libraries, it was common practice to shelve children's materials separately into various collections and sub-collections, to mark the spine with collection code and the lead characters of the author's last name, and not to stick with their classification scheme when it comes to highly circulated children's materials such as fiction, picture book, biographies and so on. Also, in domestic children's libraries, it was found that a collection code was used a few and each call number was almost assigned by KDC number. Therefore, it was suggested that the types and codes of collection and sub-collection were divided as non-fiction, fiction, fiction/mystery, fiction/science fiction, picture book, cartoon, language, folks and fairy tales, biographies, legend, concept book, holiday, award, dinosaur, insect, DIY, transportation, tall book, pop-up, story book, board book, reference, magazine, series, new book, video, and audio and were easily expanded by combining age tables or fiction genre. Also, new simplifying methods of building call numbers with collection codes were suggested.

  • 지금까지의 연구에서 Japanese Puzzle을 이용한 인쇄체 영문자 인식을 구현하여 좋은 결과를 얻었고, 본 논문 에서는 인쇄체 영문자(바탕, 돋움) 인식을 확장시켜 영문장을 인식하기 위해 키보드에서 입력 가능한 숫자 및 기호를 포함하여 인식하는 시스템을 구현하였다. 이미지를 입력 받아 이진화 처리, 히스토그램 투영을 이용한 문자 분리는 영문자 인식에서와 동일한 처리를 한다. 기호 중에서 세로 길이보다 가로 길이가 긴 기호인 -,-,= 만 가로를 정규화 하였고, 나머지는 세로를 정규화 하였다. 정규화 된 문자에 Japanese Puzzle을 역으로 적용하여 구하여진 수치 정보로부터 영문자, 숫자, 기호를 분류 및 인식하여 좋은 결과를 얻었다.

  • This study analyzes the concepts and background of introducing preference order in general classification schemes and investigates and analyzes the major tables of preference of DDC 21 specifically in the Tables and in the Schedules. It also suggests specific examples for application in almost all cases of the tables of preference.

Korean Sentence Symbol Preprocess System for the Improvement of Speech Synthesis Quality (음성 합성 시스템의 품질 향상을 위한 한국어 문장 기호 전처리 시스템)

  • In this paper, we propose a Korean sentence symbol preprocessor for a SSML (speech synthesis markup language) supported speech synthesis system in order to improve the quality of the synthesized result. After the analysis of Korean Wikipedia documents, we propose 8 categories for the meaning of sentence symbols and 11 regular expression for the classification of each category. After the development of a Korean sentence symbol preprocess system we archived 56% of precision and 71.45% of recall ratio for 63,000 sentences.

  • 본 논문에서는 모바일폰을 통한 시맨틱 검색 및 개인 기호정보를 사용한 검색 결과의 필터링이 가능한 시스템을 제안 하고자 한다. 시스템에서는 모바일 컨텐츠와 웹 컨텐츠의 검색 연동, 사용자 기호정보의 유 무선 장치의 공유 및 유 무선 장치간 검색 결과의 공유를 지원한다. 모바일폰의 컴퓨팅 능력을 고려해 모바일폰에는 사용자 인터페이스만을 유지 하도록 한다. 모바일폰을 통한 시맨틱 검색을 지원하기 위해 시스템은 실험적으로 뉴스 도메인에 국한된 카테고리에 대한 분류 체계 온톨로지를 구축하며, 각 카테고리간 관계를 설정 한다. 또한, 개인 기호정보를 통한 검색 결과의 필터링을 위해 사용자 기호정보를 XML 형태의 벡터 모델로 유지하며, 이는 서버의 데이터베이스에 각 사용자 계정으로 저장하고 공유한다. 모바일폰의 여러 단점을 극복하고 장점을 극대화 하기 위해 검색 결과를 서버에 저장하고 이를 유 무선 장치간 상호 공유 할 수 있도록 한다. 본 논문에서는 시스템의 아키텍처와 구성 및 주요 기능에 대해서 기술하고자 한다.
