Tracheal Myoepithelioma (기관에 발생한 근상피종)

  • Myoepithelioma is a benign tumor composed of sheets and islands of various proportion of spindle, plasmacytoid, epitheloid, and clear cells. We are reporting of a 38-year-old woman with an extremely rare neoplasm of the trachea, myoepithelioma. The patient had an right neck mass and diagnosed presumptively as the thyroid tumor with tracheal invasion. Resection and anastomosis of the trachea with partial thyroidectomy was done. The tumor was a well circumscribed mass with solid growth pattern and composed of spindle and epitheloid cells, which were positive for S-100 protein and smooth muscle actin. In electron microscopy, a large amount of microfilaments in the cytoplasm and layers of basement membrane-like materials in the intercellular spaces were observed, which are characteristics of myoepithelioma. Patient has been well for 8 months postoperatively.

  • 그래핀(graphene)의 라만 스펙트럼은 전하밀도(charge density)와 기계적 변형(strain)에 민감하여 연구에 널리 활용되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 기계적 박리법으로 만든 그래핀에 황산 수용액으로 p-형 화학도핑(chemical doping)을 유발시키고 전하밀도의 변이에 따른 라만 스펙트럼의 변화를 조사하였다. 이러한 변화를 통해 황산과 물 분자의 계면 확산을 이해하고, $SiO_2/Si$ 기판의 화학적 특성이 미치는 영향을 파악하고자 하였다. 분자의 효율적인 계면 확산을 위해 고온 산화반응을 이용하여 그래핀의 기저면에 나노공(nanopore)을 만든 후, 액상에서 라만 스펙트럼을 측정하였다. 증류수 속에 담궜을 때 물 분자가 그래핀-기판 계면 사이로 확산되면서 열처리에 의해 유발된 정공이 사라짐을 확인하고, D-봉우리의 가역적인 변화로부터 그래핀의 구조적 변화를 유추하였다. 황산 농도를 증가시켰을 때 G와 2D-봉우리의 진동수가 상호간에 일정한 비율로 증가하여 정공의 밀도가 증가함 알 수 있었다. 동일한 시료에 대해 황산의 농도를 감소시킴으로써 p-형 도핑을 제거하고 동일한 반응을 가역적으로 반복할 수 있었다. 상기한 분자의 2차원 확산 현상은 나노공의 유무와 기판의 전처리 조건에 따라 크게 달라진다는 사실을 확인 할 수 있었다. 또한 여러 파장에서 측정된 전하밀도와 기계적 변형에 의한 G와 2D-봉우리의 진동수 변화로부터 다른 연구자들이 활용할 수 있는 검정곡선을 제시하였다.

  • 본 논문에서는 ATSC 지상파 디지털 TV 방송방식을 사용하는 등화형 동일채널 중계기(Equalization Digital On-Channel Repeater: EDOCR)에서의 신호처리 시간지연을 최소화하기 위한 전치등화 방법에 대하여 기술하고 결과를 다양한 각도에서 분석한다. 제안된 전치등화 방법은 기준신호인 기저대역 신호와 복조된 중계기 출력신호를 이용하여 전치등화필터계수를 계산하고 펄스성형필터계수와의 컨볼루션을 통해 얻어진 새로운 펄스성형필터를 이용하는 것이다. 새로운 펄스성형필터의 전치 탭 수를 조절함으로써 시간지연을 최소화하고, 마스크필터에 의한 선형왜곡을 보상할 뿐 아니라, 원래 펄스성형필터의 대역 외 방사 특성의 열화를 최소화할 수 있다. 이를 컴퓨터 시뮬레이션 및 제작된 전치등화기를 이용하여 검증하였다.

  • The design of the substrate significantly affects the thermal history and the residual stress formation in the vicinity of a repaired region by a directed energy deposition (DED) process. The occurrence of defects in the repaired region depends on the thermal history and residual stress formation. The objective of this study was to investigate the influence of the inclined angle and depth of the substrate on the thermal and residual stress characteristics in the vicinity of a repaired region by a DED process through two-dimensional finite element analyses (FEAs). The temperature and residual stress distributions in the vicinity of the repaired region were predicted according to the combination of the inclined angle and depth of the substrate. The effects of the inclined angle and depth on the depth of the heat affected zone and the maximum value of the residual stress were examined. A proper combination of the inclined angle and depth of the substrate was estimated to decrease the residual stress in the vicinity of the repaired region.

Pharyngeal Teeth and Masticatory Process of the Basioccipital Bone in Korean Bitterlings (Teleostomi : Cyprinidae) (韓國産 납자루아과어류(亞科魚類)의 인두치(咽頭齒)와 저작돌기(咀嚼突起))

  • The pharyngeal teeth and the masticatory process of the basioccipital bone were compared in ten species of Korean bitterlings. Three species, Acheilognathus lanceolata, A. limbatus, A. signifier and Rhodeus ocellatus, which are characterized by the absence of serrations on the side of the pharyngeal teeth, are found to, have reduced occlusal grooves on the outside of occlusal margin, Among Korean bitterlings, differences are found in the developmental degrees of the anterior part of the masticatory process, the grooves on the occlusal surface and the chewing area on the pharyngeal first tooth. The occlusal grooves in herbivorous species are considered to be more developed than those in omnivorous species. Considering these findings, the combination of developmental degrees in the three pharyngeal elements suggests generally the phylogenetic relationships among the Korean bitterlings.

SHEAR BOND STRENGTH AND FAILURE PATTERNS ACCORDING TO THE THICKNESS OF RESIN BASE IN BRACKET BONDING (브라켓 부착시 레진 베이스의 두께에 따른 전단결합강도와 파절양상에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate the possibility of the decrease of bond strength due to increased thickness of resin base in indirect bracket bonding technique. Metal brackets were bonded to the resin blocks involving bovine lower incisors and the thickness of resin bases was increased by increments of 0.5 mm from 0.0 mm to 2.0 mm. They were divided into two groups, one group is that the thickness of resin base was increased but the loading point from the tooth surface was maintained constantly, the other group is that the loading point from the tooth surface and the resin base thickness were increased concomitantly. The shear bond strength was tested on universal testing machine and the failure patterns were assessed with the adhesive remnant index(ARI). The results were as follows: 1. When the distance from the tooth surface to the loading point was maintained constantly, shear bond strength was increased significantly according to the decrease of distance from the bracket base to the loading point and the increase of resin base thickness. 2. When the distance from the tooth surface to the loading point and the resin base thickness were increased concomitantly, shear bond strength was decreased according to the increase of resin base thickness but significant differences were ignorable. 3. There were no significant differences in ARI scores according to the change in the thickness of resin base. The results of the present study indicated that shear bond strength was not much affected by the thickness of resin base, whereas was decreased according to the increase of distance from bracket base to the loading point.

The Clinical Evaluation of Anomalous Bronchi Arising From The Trachea and Main Bronchi (기관 및 주기관지에서 발생한 기관지기형의 임상적 고찰)

  • Objectives : To evaluate the clinical significance of abnormal bronchi originating from the trachea or main bronchi. Methods : 21 patients (male:female ratio, 13:8; mean age, 58.2 years, range 34-77), who were diagnosed with major tracheobronchial anomalies by bronchoscopy from January 2001 to March 2005, were enrolled in this study. The anomalous bronchi consisted of 13 tracheal bronchi and 8 cardiac accessory bronchus. The clinical features, bronchoscopic findings, and outcomes were analyzed retrospectively. Results : Common symptoms, including hemoptysis, cough and dyspnea, resulted from the underlying lung disease regardless of the bronchial anomalies. In this series of 13 tracheal bronchi, 7 cases originated from the trachea within 1cm of the carina (carinal type) and 6 cases originated at a higher level(tracheal type). Most patients had favorable outcome with conservative treatment for the underlying lung disease. Conclusion : Most tracheobronchial anomalies are found incidentally in the process of diagnosing lung disease. The clinical outcome of patients with a bronchial anomaly depends on the underlying lung disease.

A Case of Rapid Cycling Secondary Bipolar Disorder Following Rt. Hemisphere Cerebral Infarction in a Patient with Preceeded Left Hemisphere Poststroke Depression (좌반구 뇌졸중후 우울증 환자에서 우반구 뇌경색이 수반된 급속 순환형 이차성 양극성장애 1례)

  • Authors report a case of poststroke bipolar disorder that occurs much less frequently than poststroke depression(PSD). A MRI study performed to identify the etiology of a secondary manic episode in a patient with preceded PSD after left basal ganglia infarction revealed newly developed right basal ganglia infarction associated with poststroke bipolar disorder. It is interesting to note that (1) the temporal relationship was found between the occurrence of PSD after left hemisphere stroke and the occurrence of poststroke bipolar disorder following right hemisphere stroke, and that (2) the occurrence of PSD and the occurrence of poststroke bipolar disorder are associated with lesion location respectively. It has been reported that bipolar disorders were associated with subcortical lesions of the right hemisphere, whereas right-cortical lesions led to unipolar mania and that risk factors for mania included a family history of psychiatric disorders and mild subcortical atrophy. In this case, MR image shows subcortical lesions of the right hemisphere and mild subcortical atrophy. The investigation of the relationships among stroke lesion locations and potstroke mood disorders and risk factors for poststroke bipolar disorder may contribute to understanding the neurobiology of primary mood disorder. A clinical implication is that the risk of secondary bipolar disorder after cerebral infarction should be highlighted.

The Characteristics of Probable Maximum Flood on Wi Stream Watersheds (위천유역(渭川流域)의 가능최대홍수량(可能最大洪水量) 특성(特性))

  • The estimation of PMP (Probable Maximum Precipitation) and the analysis of characteristics of PMF (Probable Maximum Flood) according to the types of time distribution of rainfall and variations of base flow for the determination of design flood of major hydraulic structures in the watershed area of Wi stream were analysed. The PMP was estimated by the hydro-meteorological method suggested by the guideline of the World Meteorological Organization(WMO). The Blocking method was cited to transpose from PMP to PMS (Probable Maximum Storm) with time distribution. The unit hydrograph, applied for the estimation of PMF was derived by Clark's method. The summaryzed results : (1) The 72 hrs duration PMP in the area is 477.3mm which is 80mm less than the PMP map in Korea and 134 mm lager than the maximum precipitation of 342.9mm in Taegu, near the Wi stream watershed. (2) According to the types of time distribution and variations of base flow, the ranges of PMF for advanced type, central type and delayed type are 3,145.3~3,348.3cms, 3,774.6~3,977.7cms and 3,814.6~4,017.3cms, respectively. Those mean that peak discharge of advanced type is 600cms less than the central type and delayed type. (3) Delayed type among three types by Blocking method has been estimated the largest PMF of 4,017.3cms, and the advanced type has been estimated the smallest PMF of 3,145.3cms. The mean value of the peak PMF of 3,653.6cms may probably be resonable PMF in the Wi stream watershed. The mean PMF could probably be 1.7 times lager than the result of Gajiyama's equation. It is equivalent to the flood of return period 1,000 to 10,000 yrs.

Comparison of Microleakage and Compressive Strength of Different Base Materials (여러 치과 와동 기저재용 재료들의 미세누출 및 압축강도 비교)

  • This study compared the microleakages and compressive strengths of various base materials. To evaluate microleakages, 50 extracted permanent premolars were prepared. The teeth divided into 5 groups of 10 each according to the base materials. Cavities with a 5.0 mm width, 3.0 mm length, and 3.0 mm depth were formed on the buccal surfaces of the teeth. After filling the cavities with different base materials, a composite resin was used for final restoration. Each specimen was immersed in 2% methylene blue solution and then observed under a stereoscopic microscope (× 30). To evaluate the compressive strength, 5 cylindrical specimens were prepared for each base material. A universal testing machine was used to measure the compressive strength. The microleakage was highest in the Riva light cureTM group and lowest in the BiodentineTM and Well-RootTM PT groups. For the compressive strengths, in all groups, acceptable strength values for base materials were found. The highest compressive strength was observed in the Fuji II LCTM group and the lowest strength in the Well-RootTM PT group.
