  • In recent years, multinational companies' pirate cases for traditional knowledge and genetic resources are growing. Meeting of International Authorities(MIA) agreed that traditional knowledge documentation should be included in the non-patent literature part of the Patent Cooperation Treaty(PCT) minimum documentation as a means of protection. In Korea, Korean Intellectual Property Office(KIPO) and Rural Development Administration(RDA) have played a leading role in traditional knowledge-related protection activities. KIPO's Korean Journal of Traditional Knowledge(KJTK) was selected as a PCT minimum documentation in 2008, and has been serviced through Korean Traditional Knowledge Portal(KTKP) since 2007. RDA has published several books which contain traditional agricultural knowledge and Korean local food information compiled from 1997 to now. Traditional knowledge of RDA is searchable in KTKP from 2010.In this paper, we introduce overview of activities for protection and utilization of traditional knowledge.

  • During the 1980s and 1990s, most of the old industrial cities of advanced countries have experienced serious de-industrialisation. This has caused many problems, such as economic decline, increasing unemployment, environmental degradation and social unrests. Since the mid-1980s, some of these cities have started to tackle the problems by urban regeneration programs with cultural and artistic activities, new industries, and implementing housing projects. The cities of Newcastle and Gateshead in Northeastern England were the examples of the ones which have created major development projects, such as building condominiums, renovating old factory building, and promoting cultural and art activities. This paper introduces policies and programs of the cities' urban regeneration, analyses their governance structure, and articulates factors contributing to the success of the policies and programs.

This study investigate how the attractiveness and reputation of virtual influencers affect consumers' purchase intentions. Based on previous studies, we developed a research model and questionnaire, and analyzed a total of 371 survey questionnaires using a structural equation model. The study results show that reputation positively affect attachment, imitation desire, and interaction, while attractiveness positively influence attachment and imitation desire but not interaction. Lastly, purchase intention was positively influenced by imitation desire, attachment, and interaction; which indicates that attractiveness, reputation, and interactivity are crucial factors in virtual influencer implementation strategies. The quality and reliability of contents provided by virtual influencers are essential not only for gaining popularity but also for maintaining a good reputation. Additionally, continuous interaction is necessary in order to foster close relationships with consumers. A few practical insights are presented for firms considering to implement a virtual influencer.

Online survey system should be implemented based on Limesurvey to reduce costs and administrative costs. Limesurvery is available without the development of the separate program and offers the form of web-based template system, complete design, layout. Also, Limesurvey offers basic statistical analysis of survey data. Limesurvey can be executed by installing the program on a web hosting, typing database information. Limesurvey can be made a graph of the statistical results. Besides, Limesurvery can be stored in the form of HTML, Word, Excel, CSV Files and can be stured as basic datas for SPSS or PASW, R data, other statistical processing programs. If we could be operate Limesurvey in the form of open source-based survey program in elementary school, we could be reduced teacher's unnecessary work for statistics and overcame the problem of offline survey system.

  • Yangsan ICD (Inland Container Depot) has played an important role for Busan Port and Korea's port & logistics industries, increasing international logistics competitiveness and containers' transportation competitiveness in Busan region dealing with 1330 thousand TEU in 2005, since its opening in March 2000. However, it is necessary to seek new measures to revitalize Yangsan ICD, since its cargo volume decreased rapidly owing to the opening of Busan New Port and hinterland in 2006. This study constructed an evaluation model using AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process) and conducted a survey targeting local businesses and persons concerned in Yangsan ICD to seek measures for revitalization. The results suggest that Yangsan ICD needs to switch functions to logistics centers (terminal facilities, logistics warehouse) for revitalization considering its advantage of facility location. Moreover, by extending the utilization period and securing building-to-land ratio, existing and new businesses' stable activity should be guaranteed. Furthermore, utilizing facilities such as the railway station in ICD, an active railway revitalization policy may increase cargo volume. Yangsan ICD should perform its role as an inland logistics depot through the revitalization of railway freight transportation in the national logistics system focusing on road freight transportation.
