  • The objective of this study is to investigate the structural behavior of concrete-filled steel tubular column-H beam connections with exterior stiffeners. As a preliminary test, simple tensile test on the column to H-beam flange connections stiffened were conducted The paramaters of tensile test are the thickness(T=9, 12, 15m) and the width(W=50, 75, 100, 150mm) of exterior stiffeners. The simple tensile test were conducted to 7 kinds of specimens. Estimating the load, displacement, and strain from each kind, results of simple tensile test were compared with results of second test. On the basis of simple tensile test, test on the column to H-km connections stiffened with the sames under monotonic and cyclic load were conducted. Specimens of 5 for the second experiment were made. In analysis, comparing each strengthes and stiffnesses we estimated deformation capacity. Comparing and estimating each yielding strength ratios and maxium-strength ratios on the basis of yield line theory, new strength formula of beam-to-column connections was suggested.

As a preliminary test, simple tensile test on the column to H-beam connections stiffened were conducted. The parameters of tensile test are the diameters of each rebars. The simple tensile test were conducted to 5 kinds of specimens. Estimating the load. displacement and strain for specimens, the result of tensile test were compared with the results of main test. On the basis of simple tensile test, tests are conducted to montonic and cyclic loading column to H-beam connections with the same diameters of rebars. Specimens of 5 are made for monotonic and cyclic loading test. • The objective of this study is to investigate the structural behavior of Concrete-Filled Steel Tubular Column-H Beam connections with plate stiffeners. The first, we made experiment on the Column to H-beam flange connections stiffened with simple tensile loading. The paramaters of tensile experiment are the area of each plates. The simple tensile experiment is conducted to 5 kinds of specimens. Eestimating the load, displacement, and strain from each kind, we compared them with results of second experiment. The second, we made experiment on the Column to H-beam connections stiffened with the sames under monotonic and cyclic load. we made specimens of 5 for the second experiment. In analysis, comparing each strengthes and stiffnesses we estimated deformation capacity. • The objective of this study is to investigate the maximum strength of stainless steel rectangular hollow section columns and beam-columns by using numerical analysis. Stress-strain relationships are modeled based on coupon tests results, and their influences on the maximum strength of columns and beam-columns are discussed. The analysis results are compared with the formula for the limit state design code of steel structures. It is ascertained that the design code for the stainless steel is needed to use stainless steel for the members of architectural structures.

  • The CFT columns used in thin-walled steel tubes can be more economical, because it was expected the increase of strength by restriction for the local buckling of steel tubes. The purpose of this paper is to review feasibility of existing design formula and verify the applicability limit of width-to-thickness ratio for increasing the strength of rectangular CFT columns. As the main parameters of experiments, width-to-thickness ratios of steel tube, height of rectangular concrete columns, and concrete filled or not. The strength of concrete are selected to 90MPa. From the test results, the confinement effect of steel tube on the compressive strength of infilled concrete is remarkably appeared in the thin-walled rectangular steel tube columns infilled wih high strength concrete. By the non-linear analysis, the axial strength from experiment result was given higher than analysis result for all CFT stub columns.

  • The objective of this study is to investigate the criteria of the width-to-thickness ratio and to evaluate the buckling strength of high strength steel beam-columns and to compare their buckling strength with design codes, which are the Limit State Design code and the Allowable Stress Desogn code(drift). SM520TMC and SM570Q class steels are used for high strength steels. The coupon test and the stub column test were carried out to investigate the properties of high strength steels and the stress-strain curves of stub columns. The buckling strength of high strength steel beam-columns are assessed by numerical analysis used axial force, moment and curvature relationships.

  • Recently, studies on semi-rigid beam-to-column connections have been done to develop a T-stub element with separators between column face and T-stub flange. In this paper, inelastic analyses for the improved T-stub element are performed, and their results are compared with existing experimental results. The inelastic analyses using gap elements between column face and the separator, and initial stresses at the high-tension bolts result in good agreement with experimental results. Simplified design methods estimating the initial stiffness and the strength of the semi-rigid connection for compression force are proposed.

  • Axial load tests and cyclic load tests for FRP reinforced rectangular CFT columns were carried out The main parameters were width-thickness ratio of a steel tubeand FRP layer numbers for the axial load tests and were concrete strength and FRP layer numbers for cyclic load tests. The maximum strength and ductility capacity were compared between the current CFT columns and the FRP reinforced CFT columns. Finally, the axial design formulas were presented for the FRP reinforced CFT columns.

  • Six full scale column specimens have been tested under the constant axial and cyclic lateral load. An equivalent stress block parameter was used to estimate flexural capacity of columns confined by carbon sheet tube. Through the non-linear regression analysis, behaviors of CFCST(Concrete Filled Carbon Sheet Tube) columns under the cyclic lateral load were estimated and compared with test results.

  • According to the Korean Building Code (KBC), the validity of the application of 800MPa grade steel(HSA800) to composite column should be verified by experimental or analytical method. Thus, stub column tests for encased and filled composite members with HSA800 steel were conducted, and axial strength and the validity of design compressive strength equations in KBC were evaluated. The test results show that the equation of the compressive strength of encased composite column member in KBC should be modified in order to use HSA800 steel without any reduction of specified minimum yield strength. For this purpose, it is suggested that the interval of hoop should be narrowed and the effective concrete area should be used. The equation of the compressive strength of filled composite column member in KBC is applicable to filled composite column with HSA800 steel without any modification.
