Effect of Fast ATF Warm-up on Fuel Economy Using Recovery of EGR Gas Waste Heat in a Diesel Engine (EGR 가스 폐열회수에 의한 디젤엔진의 연비에 미치는 ATF 워밍업의 영향)

  • Cold start driving cycles exhibit an increases in friction losses due to the low temperatures of metal components and media compared to the normal operating engine conditions. These friction losses are adversely affected to fuel economy. Therefore, in recent years, various techniques for the improvement of fuel economy at cold start driving cycles have been introduced. The main techniques are the upward control of coolant temperature and the fast warm-up techniques. In particular, the fast warm-up techniques are implemented with the coolant flow-controlled water pump and the WHRS (waste heat recovery system). This paper deals with an effect of fast ATF (automatic transmission fluid) warm-up on fuel economy using a recovery system of EGR gas waste heat in a diesel engine. On a conventional diesel engine, two ATF coolers have been connected in series, i.e., an air-cooled ATF cooler is placed in front of the condenser of air conditioning system and a water-cooled one is embedded into the radiator header. However, the new system consists of only a water-cooled heat exchanger that has been changed into the integrated structure with an EGR cooler to have the engine coolant directly from the EGR cooler. The ATF cooler becomes the ATF warmer and cooler, i.e., it plays a role of an ATF warmer if the temperature of ATF is lower than that of coolant, and plays a role of an ATF cooler otherwise. Chassis dynamometer experiments demonstrated the fuel economy improvement of over 2.5% with rapid increase in the ATF temperature.

Characteristics of electrodes using V-Ti based hydrogen storage alloys (V-Ti계 수소저장합금의 전극특성)

  • The electrode characteristics of two kinds of metal hydride electrodes using V-Ti (V-rich) based alloy were studied, in which one electrode was prepared by sintering the mixture of V-Ti alloy and Ni powders by a rapid thermal annealing technique and the other one was prepared using V-Ti-Ni ternary alloy, The discharge capacities of all electrodes during the charge-discharge cycling were completely deteriorated within 10 cycles. It appeared that the deterioration of the electrodes was caused by the dissolution of V in the near-surface region into the electrolyte and the formation of $TiO_2$ layer on the alloy particle surface. This degradation mechanism was supported by the facts that V is main hydride forming element and $TiO_2$ has very low electrical conductivity and hydrogen diffusivity.

The Effect of Sarcodon aspratus Fruitbody on the Cooking Quality of Beef Steak (능이버섯 가공품이 스테이크용 우육의 품질에 미치는 영향)

  • The possibility of using the dried powder form of Sarcodon aspratus fruitbody (a kind of mushrooms) as a meat tenderizer was explored in this study. The freeze dried powder had higher protease activity compared to the hot air dried powder of S. aspratus. The powder kept higher activity when preserved at -2$0^{\circ}C$ than at ambient temperature. The hardness of the meat decreased and the cooking loss increased more rapidly when the meat was treated with the mushroom powder at ambient temperature than at -4$^{\circ}C$. In terms of sensory evaluation, 0.1% of the powder based on the meat and 3 hours of treatment at 4$^{\circ}C$ gave the highest acceptability score. In the comparison test the meat was more acceptable when treated with the mushroom powder than with the imported commercial tenderizer. This led to the conclusion that it is quite feasible to develop a natural meat tenderizer using the Sarcodon aspratus fruitbody.

  • The effect of the surface treatments on the high temperature properties of the Inconel 617, one of the promising candidate alloys for high temperature heat-transport system, has been studied. Various surface modification methods including a rapid thermal process(RTP), a hydrothermal treatment, and a physical vapor deposition($2{\mu}m$ thick TiAlN film by an arc discharge) were applied to the Inconel 617. The morphological and the structural properties of the surface-modified Inconel 617 samples after heat treatment at $1000^{\circ}C$ in the air were compared to find out whether inhomogeneous formation of $Cr_2O_3$ crust at the surface region was suppressed or not. TiAlN-coated Inconel 617 showed homogeneous microstructure and the lowest wear loss compared to bare, RTP- and hydrothermally-treated Inconel 617 by suppressing the $Cr_2O_3$ crust formation.

  • Optimal thawing conditions of frozen model foods containing protein and starch were nvestigated at various thawing conditions such as room temperature, hot air, and microwave heating. Hardness of the frozen model foods was getting higher as the water content increased. Thawing rates at room temperature, hot-air heating at $50^{\circ}C$, and microwave heating were 0.02 Kg/min, 0.08 Kg/min, 0.01 Kg/min, respectively. Final thawing time was as follows; control 60min, 5% sucrose: 50 min, 10% sucrose: 30 min, 5% NaCl: 30 min. Total drip loss was as follows; room temperature thawing: 22.5%, 200W microwave thawing 1.3%, and $50^{\circ}C$ hot air thawing nearly negligible.

  • 플라즈마 디스플레이 패널(PDP)의 공정을 간단히 하기 위하여 포토레지스트, ITO, 격벽재료를 Ar+ laser(λ-514 nm, CW)와 Nd:YAG laser(λ=532, 266nm, pulse)로 직접 패터닝 하였다. 레이저에 의한 포토레지스트의 패턴결과, 아르곤 이온 레이저의 포토레지스트 가공의 반응 메카니즘은 레이저 빔의 열에 의한 시료 표면의 국부적인 온도상승에 의한 용융작용이며, 그 결과 식각 후 형성된 패턴의 단면 모양도 레이저빔의 profile과 같은 가우시안 형태를 나타낸다. Nd:YAG 레이저의 4고조파(532nm)를 이용한 경우 200$\mu\textrm{m}$/sce의 주사속도에서 포토레지스트를 패턴하기 위한 임계에너지(threshold energy fluence) 값은 25J/cm2이며, 약 40J/cm2의 에너지 밀도에서 하부기판의 손상이 발생하기 시작하였다. 글미 1은 Nd:YAG 레이저 4고조파를 이용하여 포토레지스트를 식각한 경우 SEM 표면사진(위)과 단차특정기에 의한 단면형상(아래)이다. ITO 막의 레이저에 의한 직접 패턴 결과, ITO 막은 레이저 펄스에 의한 급속 가열 및 증발에 의한 메커니즘으로 식각이 이루어지며, 레이저 파장에 따른 광흡수 정도의 차이에 의해 2고조파 (532nm)에서 ITO 막의 가공 품질이 4고조파(266nm)에 비해 우수하며 패턴의 폭도 출력에 따라 제어가 용이하였다. 그림 2는 Nd:YAG 레이저 2고조파를 이용하여 ITO를 식각한 경우 SEM표면 사진(위)과 단차측정기에 의한 단면형상(아래)이다. 격벽 재료의 레이저에 의한 직접 패턴 결과, Ar+ 레이저(514nm)는 출력 밀도 32NW/cm2에서 격벽을 유리 기판의 경계면까지 식각하였다. Nd:YAG 레이저(532nm)는 laser fluence가 6.5mJ/cm2에서 격벽을 식각하기 시작하였으며, 19.5J/cm2에서 유리기판의 rudraus(격벽 두께 130$\mu\textrm{m}$)까지 식각하였다.

Property Variation of Diamond-like Carbon Thin Film According to the Annealing Temperature (열처리에 따른 Diamond-like Carbon (DLC) 박막의 특성변화)

  • Diamond-like carbon (DLC) films is a metastable form of amorphous carbon containing a significant fraction of Sp3 bond. DLC films have been characterized by a range of attractive mechanical, chemical, tribological, as well as optical and electrical properties. In this study DLC films were prepared by the RF magnetron sputter system on $SiO_2$ substrates using graphite target. The effects of the post annealing temperature on the Property variation of the DLC films were examined. The DLC films were annealed at temperatures ranging from 300 to $500^{\circ}C$ using rapid thermal process equipment in vacuum. The variation of electrical property and surface morphology as a function of annealing treatment was investigated by using a Hall Effect measurement and atomic force microscopy. Raman and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy analyses revealed a structural change in the DLC films.

The Hydrolysis Conditions of Rapeseed Protein by Pronase (유채단백질의 단백효소에 의한 가수분해 조건)

  • Optimum conditions for enzymatic hydrolysis of purified rapeseed(Brassica napus var. Youngsan) protein were investigated. Pronase showed higher activity in the hydrolysis of rapeseed protein than that of alcalase and neutrase. Preheated treatment of the rapeseed protein decreased the activity of pronase. The degree of hydrolysis of rapeseed protein was greater in distilled water than in phosphate buffer solution. Degree of hydrolysis was reached in steady state after 1 hr. Optimum conditions of the hydrolysis of the rapeseed protein were $40^{\circ}C$ in reaction temperaturem pH 8.0 in substrate solution, 1/100 (w/w) in the ratio of enzyme to substrate and 1% (w/v) in substrate concentration for pronase, respectively. At the optimum hydrolysis conditions, Km value was 3.48% (w/v).

  • There have been many technologies and materials proposed for realizing microlens array, and plastic injection is recognized as the most promising one because of several merits such as optical properties, impact resistance, formability, lightening and environmental adaptability. Since PR reflow for injection template fabrication enables the lens shape control easier, and the sample technology more effective for mass production, it lowers the cost, enhances integration, and reduces process steps, which leads to be environmentally benign. However injection of polymers may face the difficulty of formability depending on their properties. In order to overcome the difficulty, fast heating/cooling technology was introduced in this study, and microlenses were fabricated and evaluated. template obtained by PR reflow method was heated and cooled fast during injection to fabricate microlens array. PC and PMMA polymer materials were compared, and it was realized that PMMA showed much better formability due to its lower melting temperature. Injection parameters of pressures and velocities were driven out for injection optimization.

플라즈마 이온주입(Plasma Immersion Ion Implantation, PIII) 방법으로 Boron 도핑된 실리콘 기판의 도펀트 활성화와 기판손상에 관한 연구

  • 반도체소자의 고집적, 미세화에 따라 MOSFET 소자에서의 고농도, 미세접합이 요구되고 있다. 이러한 고농도, 미세접합을 형성하기 위하여 기존의 저에너지 이온주입법을 대체 또는 병행할 목적으로 플라즈마 이온주입방법이 활발히 연구되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 플라즈마 이온주입방법을 이용하여 (100) 실리콘 기판에 보론을 주입후 열처리하여 형성된 p+층의 도펀트의 활성화와 이온주입으로 인한 실리콘 기판의 손상을 고찰하였다. 본 실험에서 (100)실리콘 기판에 도핑할 소스 가스로 BF3을 주입하고, D.C. pulse 플라즈마 도핑시스템을 사용하여 플라즈마 내의 보론이온을 웨이퍼 홀더에 -1~-5kV의 인가된 음전압에 의해 가속시키어 실리콘 웨이퍼에 주입하였다. 주입에너지 -1kV, -3kV, -5kV와 1$\times$1015, 3$\times$1515의 dose로 주입된 실리콘 기판을 급속가열방식(RTP)을 사용하여 $600^{\circ}C$~110$0^{\circ}C$의 온도구간에서 10초와 30초로 열처리하여 도펀트의 활성화와 미세접합을 형성한 후 SIMS, four-point probe, Hall 측정, 그리고 FT-IR을 이용하여 플라즈마 이온주입된 도펀트의 거동과 활성화율을 관찰하였고 FT-IR과 TEM의 분석을 통하여 이온주입으로 인한 실리콘 기판의 손상을 고찰하였다. SIMS, four-point probe, Hall 측정, 그리고 FT-IR의 분석으로 열처리 온도의 증가에 따라 도펀트의 활성화율이 증가하였고, 이온주입 에너지와 dose 그리고 열처리 시간의 증가에 따라서 주입된 도펀트의 활성화는 증가하였다. 그리고 주입에너지와 dose 그리고 열처리 시간의 증가에 따라서 주입된 도펀트의 활성화는 증가하였다. 그리고 주입에너지와 dose를 증가시키면 접합깊이가 증가함을 관찰하였다. 이온주입으로 인한 기판손상의 분석을 광학적 방법인 FT-IR과 미세구조를 분석할 수 있는 TEM을 이용하여 분석하였다. 이온주입으로 인한 dislocation이나 EOR(End Of Range)과 같은 extended defect가 없었고, 이온주입으로 인한 비정질층도 없는 p+층을 얻을수 있었다.
