Case Study on the Load-Deflection and Acoustic Emission Analysis of SM45C Coupons with a Circular Hole Defect under Tensile Loading (원공결함을 갖는 SM45C 인장시험편의 강도해석과 음향방출에 관한 사례연구)

  • The SM45C metallic coupons have been tested under static tensile loading with acoustic emission (AE) as the load-deflection curve mainly. In this study, we used AE to detect the yielding of material and AE techniques was applied to rapidly estimate the mechanical characteristics of a material. First, coupons without an artificial defect were tested at different cross-head speed. For all cases in this analysis, yielding point of SM45C coupons did not appear definitely compared to mild steel, whereas coupons start to generate AE counts upon yielding. So all cases are normalized to know the possibility of accelerated life test of a material. And next, coupons with different from sizes of circular hole defects were tested at the same cross-head speed of 5 mm/min. Results were classified into 3 classes and analyzed by AE amplitude & signal strength as a function of time. Summarizing the specific conclusions, we need to additional research considering plate with width-ratio in order to estimate the fracture mechanism.

  • The catalytic applicability of various ionic liquids immobilized on different silica-supports such as amorphous, SBA, MCM and commercial silica for the cycloaddition of $CO_2$ and epoxides is reviewed in this work. The effects of different structures of supported ionic liquids and silica supports in the synthesis cyclic carbonate by the cycloaddition of $CO_2$ have been remarked. The studies revealed that ionic liquids possessing functional groups or metals exhibited increased catalytic performance towards cyclic carbonate synthesis. Moreover, the reusability of SSIL catalyst and mechanism for the cycloaddition of $CO_2$ were studied.

A Study on the Synthesis of N-Acylchitosan Porous Beads and Their Metal Ion Adsorption Characteristics (N-Acylchitosan Porous Bead들의 제조 및 금속이온 흡착특성에 관한 연구)

  • Chitin was isolated from crab shell. Chitosan, which was prepared by the deacetylation of chitin, was acylated to obtain N-acetyl(regenerated chitin), N-propionyl, N-butyryl, N-hexanoyl, N-decanoyl and N-maleated chitosans and their metal ion adsorption characteristics of N-acylchitosans were investigated. In order to enhance the adsorptivity, their porous beads were prepared and their adsorptivity with respect to the porosity and the adsorptivities for metal ions($Cu^{2+}$, $Ni^{2+}$, $CO^{2+}$, $Mn^{2+}$, $Ag^{+}$)were investigated. Their metal ion adsorptivities were remarkably imporved compared to those of chitin. As the larger acyl groups were introduced, adsorptivity increased, but that of N-decanoyl chitosan showed some decrease because of steric hindrance of the bulky N-decanoyl group. N-Maleated chitosan containing carboxyl group showed highly improved adsorptivity, and N-acylchitosans showed the good selective adsorption in the mixed metal ions($Cu^{2+}$, $Ni^{2+}$, $CO^{2+}$, $Mn^{2+}$ and $Ag^{+}$). They also showed excellent adsorption characteristics as chelating polymers.

  • Group 6 $M(CO)_4$(2, 2'-bipyridine)[M=Cr, Mo, W] was synthesized by substituting CO ligand of $M(CO)_6$ with strong electron donating ligand, 2, 2'-blpyridine, in the presence of phase transfer catalyst. The effective of catalyst and solvent on the product yield were discussed according to concentration and kinds of catalyst, kinds of center cation and anion, type of alkyl and aryl groups attached to the center cation, and different chain length.

탄소섬유강화 복합재료의 드릴링 특성에 관한 연구

  • 산업의 발전과 더불어 새로운 재료의 개발에 대한 요구가 날로 증가하고 있으며 이와 같은 요구에 부응하기위하여 각종의 신소재가 개발되고있다. 이들 신소재 중에서 섬유강화 복합재료는 높은 비탄성과 비강도특성 때문에 구조물의 경량화가 요구되는 우주선, 항공기 등에 주로 이용 되어 왔으며 최근에는 복합재료의 가격이 저렴해 지면서 이 재료의 높은 비탄성과 감쇠특성을 이용하고자 스포츠용품 및 기계 부품에도 섬유강화 복합재료의 이용이 증가 되고 있다. 항공기나 고속회전체의 부품을 복합재료로 제작하였을 경우 복합재료를 다른 금속이나 다른 복합재료부품에 접합(joining)시켜야 하는데 이 때문에구조물의 효율은 Joint에서 주로 죄우된다. Joint를 제작하기 위해서는 복합재료의 표면을 가공한 수 Adhesive를 이용하거나 Bolt로 체결하기 위해 구멍 뚫기 작업이 필요하여 드릴링을 하였을때 이 재료가 매우 연마성이 강하여 심한 공구마멸을 일으키며, 드릴의 입구와 출구쪽에서 각 ply들의 박리 현상이 발생하고, 드릴가공된 벽면으로부터 섬유 또는 레진의 탈락현상등이 발생하는 결점을 가지고 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 이러한 결점을 최소화하여 고정밀도의 높은 생산성을 얻기위한 가공기술에 대한 자료를 만들고 최적 절삭조건 및 복합재료가공용 드릴의 설계를 위한 지침을 제시하고자 고속도강 표준드릴을 사용하여 유리섬유 에폭시 복합재료및 탄소섬유 에폭시 복합재료의 드릴링 실험에서 절삭조건이 가공면 생성, 공구마멸, 절삭력에 미치는 영향에 대하여 조사하였다.

Electromigration Characteristics in Al-1%Si hin Film Interconnections for Microelectronic Devices (극소전자 디바이스를 위한 Al-1%Si 박막배선에서의 electromigration 특성)

  • 전자소자의 축소화에 따라 electromigration은 점차 반도체 디바이스의 주요 결함 원 인으로 부각되고 있다. 본 실험은 현재 배선 재료로 널리 사용되고 있는 Al-1%Si 금속박막 배선의 electromigration에 대한 온도 및 배선길이 의존성에 관하여 연구하였다. ppLCC(pplastic Leaded Chipp Carrier) ppackage된 ppSG(8000$\AA$)/SiO2(1000$\AA$)/Al-1%Si(7000 $\AA$)/SiO2(5000$\AA$)/pp-typpe Si(100)의 보호막처리된 시편과 Al-1%Si/SiO2(5000$\AA$)/pp-typpe Si(100)의 보호막처리되지 않은 시편등을 standard pphotolithograpphy 공정을 이용하여 각각 제작하였다. 선폭 3$mu extrm{m}$, 길이 100, 400, 800, 1600$\mu\textrm{m}$의 등의 Al-1%Si 박막배선구조를 사용하 였다. 가속화실험을 위해 인가된 D.C 전류밀도는 4.5$\times$106A/cm2이었고 실온에서 10$0^{\circ}C$까지 의 분위기 온도에서 electromigration를 실행하였다. 박막배선길이에 따른 MTF(Mean Time-to-Failure)는 임계길이 이상에서 포화되는 경향을 보이며 임계길이는 Al-1%Si 박막 배선에서 분위기온도에 따라 길이 400$\mu\textrm{m}$과 800$\mu\textrm{m}$범위에서 나타났다. 각 시편에서 electromigration에 대한 활성화에너지도 MTF의 특성과 유사하게 임계길이 이상에서 포화 되는 특성을 타나내었다.

Copper MOCVD using catalytic surfactant : Novel concept

  • 알루미늄에 비해 전기저항이 낮고 electromigration 및 stress-migration에 대한 저항서이 높은 구리는 차세대 반도체 소자의 배선금속 재료로 여겨지고 있다. 최근 Chemical Mechanical Polishing (CMP) 기술의 도래로 구리배선 공정의 채택이 더욱 앞당겨질 전망이다. 한편, 구리 MOCVD를 위해 다양한 전구체화합물이 합성되었고, 근래에는 Cu(I)(hfc)L (L은 Lewis base 형태의 ligand) 형태의 전구체를 이용한 많은 증착 연구를 통하여 순수하고 전기저항이 낮은 구리 박막의 증착이 보고되었다. 구리 MOCVD의 가장 큰 문제점은 증착속도가 150-$^{\circ}C$20$0^{\circ}C$에서 500$\AA$/min 이하로 낮고 또한 증착된 필름 표면이 매우 거칠다는 데 있다. 이러한 단점으로 인해 전기화학적 증착후 CMP를 적용하는 것이 더욱 경제적이라는 견해가 우세해 지고 있다. 본 강연에서는 박막의 증착 속도와 표면 거칠기를 동시에 향사시키기 위해 catalytic surfactant를 이용한 새로운 MOCVD 개념을 도입하고, 구리 MOCVD에서 단원자층으로 흡착된 요오드 원자가 그 역할을 수행할 수 있음을 보이겠다. 또 요오드원자가 표면반응을 어떻게 수정하여 활성화에너지를 낮추는가를 반응메카니즘으로 밝히고 표면 평탄화의 미시적 해석을 제공하고자 한다. Catalytic Surfactant의 개념은 다른 박막 재료의 MOCVD에도 적용될 수 있으며, 나아가 적절한 기판 표면처리를 통하여 epitaxy도 가능할 것으로 본다.

The Meshfree Method Based on the Least-Squares Formulation for Elasto-Plasticity (탄소성 최소 제곱 수식화와 이를 이용한 무요소법)

  • A new meshfree method for the analysis of elasto-plastic deformations is presented. The method is based on the proposed first-order least-squares formulation, to which the moving least-squares approximation is applied. The least-squares formulation for the classical elasto-plasticity and its extension to an incrementally objective formulation for finite deformations are proposed. In the formulation, the equilibrium equation and flow rule are enforced in least-squares sense, while the hardening law and loading/unloading condition are enforced exactly at each integration point. The closest point projection method for the integration of rate-form constitutive equation is inherently involved in the formulation, and thus the radial-return mapping algorithm is not performed explicitly. Also the penalty schemes for the enforcement of the boundary and frictional contact conditions are devised. The main benefit of the proposed method is that any structure of cells is not used during the whole process of analysis. Through some numerical examples of metal forming processes, the validity and effectiveness of the method are presented.

A study on the development of thin-walled metal bearing for the large-sized slow speed diesel engines. (대형저속 디젤엔진용 박판형 메탈 베어링의 국산화 개발에 관한 연구)

  • Nowadays the thin-walled metal bearing, which is made seperately from the bearing housing and has the ratio of wall thickness/bearing diameter being less than 1/30, are used in many newly developed large-sized slow speed diesel engines for the purpose of upgarding lubication performance and easy maintenance according to the trends of increasing output per cylinder and lowering engine speed. The type of this bearing has been used generally in many small-sized high speed engines applied for automobile, high speed craft and industrial power generation systems since 1950s. But the tranditional thick-walled bearings, whice are linned white metal on the bearing housing directly, have been installed on the large and slow speed engines until 1990s due to the easy manufacturing procedures. In this study we have calculated optimum dimensions of the metal bearing, fabricated special zigs for crush measurement, model test machine, 2 sets of specimens.(crosshead pin bearing, $\phi$818*552*20mm) for B & W 6S70MC(20, 940*88rpm), and evaluated metal constact phenomena of white metal, its friction coefficient, temparature rise through the model test and field performance test.

  • In 1990's the Korean polyolefin industry boomed up through the development of magnificient polymerization catalysts. To understand the general situation of polymerization catalyst R & D, the various experimental results had been summarized for the investigation of not only the supported Ziegler-Natta catalyst used presently in polyolefin industry but also the metallocene catalysts applied for the preparation of special grade of polyolefin. In addition, it had been shown that the new polymeric materials were prepared by new developed catalyst, and the polymer in-situ nanocomposites could be obtained with the application of catalyst heterogenization procedures.
