This study investigates the effect of sEMG sampling frequency on CNN learning performance at Korean finger number recognition application. Since the bigger sampling frequency of sEMG signals generates bigger size of input data and takes longer CNN's learning time. It makes making real-time system implementation more difficult and more costly. Thus, there might be appropriate sampling frequency when collecting sEMG signals. To this end, this work choose five different sampling frequencies which are 1,024Hz, 512Hz, 256Hz, 128Hz and 64Hz and investigates CNN learning performance with sEMG data taken at each sampling frequency. The comparative study shows that all CNN recognized Korean finger number one to five at the accuracy of 100% and CNN with sEMG signals collected at 256Hz sampling frequency takes the shortest learning time to reach the epoch at which korean finger number gestures are recognized at the accuracy of 100%.

In this paper we implemented an EMG sensor system for wearable devices to obtain and analyze of EMG signals. The performance of the implemented sensor system is evaluated by the correlation analysis of muscle fatigue and muscle activation to clinical EMG system and compared with power consumption of the measured power of our system and commercial systems. In experiments with biceps and triceps brachii of 5 objects, The correlation values of muscle fatigue and muscle activation between our system and the clinical EMG system is 1.1~1.4 and about 1.0, respectively. And also the power consumption of our system is 25~50% less than that of some commercial EMG sensor systems.

Compresses sensing (CS) technique is beneficial for reducing power consumption of biopotential acquisition circuits in wireless healthcare system. This paper investigates the maximum possible compress ratio for various biopotential signal when the CS technique is applied. By using the CS technique, we perform the compression and reconstruction of typical electrocardiogram(ECG), electromyogram(EMG), electroencephalogram(EEG) signals. By comparing the original signal and reconstructed signal, we determines the validity of the CS-based signal compression. Raw-biopotential signal is compressed by using a psuedo-random matrix, and the compressed signal is reconstructed by using the Block Sparse Bayesian Learning(BSBL) algorithm. EMG signal, which is the most sparse biopotential signal, the maximum compress ratio is found to be 10, and the ECG'sl maximum compress ratio is found to be 5. EEG signal, which is the least sparse bioptential signal, the maximum compress ratio is found to be 4. The results of this work is useful and instrumental for the design of wireless biopotential signal monitoring circuits.

As it is changing into aging society, rehabilitation, welfare and sports industry markets are being expanded fast. Especially, the field of vital signals interface to control welfare instruments like wheelchair, rehabilitation ones like an artificial arm and leg and general electronic ones is a new technology field in the future. Also, this technology can help not only the handicapped, the old and the weak and the rehabilitation patients but also the general public in various application field. The commercial bio-signal measurement instruments and interface systems are complicated, expensive and large-scaled. So, there are a lot of limitations for using in real life with ease. this thesis proposes a wireless transmission interface system that uses EMG(electromyogram) signals and a control module to manipulate hardware systems with portable size. We have designed a hardware module that receives the EMG signals occurring at the time of wrist movement and eliminated noises with filter and amplified the signals effectively. DSP(Digital Signal Processor) chip of TMS320F2808 which was supplied from TI company was used for converting into digital signals from measured EMG signals and digital filtering. We also have used PCA(Principal Component Analysis) technique and classified into four motions which have right, left, up and down direction. This data was transmitted by wireless module in order to display at PC monitor. As a result, the developed system obtains recognition success ratio above 85% for four different motions. If the recognition ratio will be increased with more experiments. this implemented system using EMG wrist direction signals could be used to control various hardware systems.

We provide a method to infer finger flexing motions using a 4-channel surface electromyogram (sEMG). Surface EMGs are harmless to the human body and easily acquired. However, they do not reflect the activity of specific nerves or muscles, unlike invasive EMGs. On the other hand, the non-invasive type is difficult to use for discriminating various motions while using only a small number of electrodes. Surface EMG data in this study were obtained from four electrodes placed around the forearm. The motions were the flexion of the thumb, index, middle, ring, and little linger. One subject was trained with these motions and another left was untrained. The maximum likelihood estimation was used to infer the finger motion. Experimental results have showed that this method could be useful for recognizing finger motions. The average accuracy was as high as 95%.
