A Comparison of Quadriceps Muscle Strength and Endurance on Convergent Kinesio Taping with Elasticity (융합적 키네시오 테이핑의 탄성정도에 따른 넙다리네갈래근의 근력과 근 지구력 비교)

  • The purpose of this study is to compare the difference between quadriceps strength and endurance on the degree of elasticity of convergent kinesio taping. Twenty-eight normal adults who voluntarily participated in this study were randomly assigned among 4 groups, that is, group without tape, group with tape elasticity of 0 %, group with tape elasticity of 25 %, or group with tape elasticity of 50 %. Quadriceps strength and endurance were measured using CSMI. Strength among the groups was significantly different (p<.001), and the greater the elasticity of the tape, the greater the muscle strength. However, endurance was't significantly different among the groups (p>.05). These findings suggest that convergent kinesio taping elasticity with 25% and 50% is effective for quadriceps strength in physical activity.

Effect of Kinesio Taping on Isokinetic Muscular Function and Pain of Knee Joint in Elderly Women (키네시오 테이핑이 고령자의 슬관절 등속성 근 기능 및 통증에 미치는 영향)

  • The aim of this study were to evaluate the effect of kinesio taping on isokinetic muscular function and pain of knee joint. The subjects for this study were twelve elderly women($65{\sim}70$years) suffered by knee joint pain over more than three years. The taping methods performed on 3 times a week for 8 weeks for improvement of isokinetic muscular function. Also, the change of visual analogue scale(VSA) and varval rating scale(VRA) has been measured before and post taping 8 weeks. Paired t-test was performed for data analysis at the 0.05 level of significance. After 8 weeks, the results of the study are as follow; First, peak torque, peak torque % BW, total work and ipsilateral balance ratio were significantly improved. And, work fatigue, visual analogue scale and verval rating scale were decreased significantly after 8 weeks taping. The results suggest that applying kinesio taping on knee joint may improve isokinetic muscular function of elderly women. Therefore kinesio taping method was effective for pain relief and prevention of knee joint pain in the elderly women.

The Effect of Respiratory Muscle Training in Patients with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease - Preliminary Study - (만성 폐쇄성 폐질환 환자에 있어서 호흡근육 훈련의 효과에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • The effect on strength and endurance training (SET) (2 patients) were compared with those of strength training(ST) (2 patients) in patients with-chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. The result of training was assessed by 4 tests: maximal inspiratory pressure(PImax), sustainable inspiratory pressure (SIP), maximal voluntary ventiiation(MVV) and bronchitis-emphysema symptom checklist(BESC). Measurements were repeated before and after training per week for 6 weeks. The SET group performed inspiratory muscle training, using a inspiratory muscle trainer 30 minutes per day, 6 days per week and performing endurance training-12-minute walking-2 days per week for 6 weeks, whereas the ST-only group trained for 30 minutes daily, 6 days per week using inspiratory muscle trainer. SET was no significant increase in exercise performance, whereas ST produced an increase in SIP and a decrease in BESC. There was significant change in BESC betweet the two groups. A simple at home training program using inspiartory muscle trainer was more effective than that of SET program in improving exercise performance of some patients with COPD.h COPD.

The effect of cervical stabilized exercise and joint mobilization on maximum muscle strength and static muscle endurance of cervical region (경추안정화운동과 경추관절가동술이 경부의 최대근력과 정적근지구력에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to identify cervical stabilized exercise and joint mobilization, the difference between them, and the maximum muscle strength and static muscle endurance of each group after the enforcement to general people. Cervical joint mobilization group refers to interarticular exercise (traction, pressure, glide) using with Kaltenborn technique. 3 classes were divided into 20 people each, cervical joint mobilization and stabilized exercise, and the comparison groups were randomized for the study. Both cervical stabilized exercise and joint mobilization increased maximum muscle strength and static muscle endurance. Patients should be able improve muscle stabilization and deep cervical muscle by using joint mobilization when the patient is unable to exercise on their own.
