Development of Tool Fracture Index for Detection of Tool Fracture in Milling Process (밀링시 공구 파손 검출을 위한 공구 파손 지수의 도출)

  • A new algorithm for detection of tool fracture in milling process was developed. The variation of the peak-to-valley value of cutting load was used in this algorithm. Various kinds of vectors representing the condition of tool, such as tool condition vector, reference tool condition vector, tool condition variation vector were defined. Using these vectors, tool fracture index which represents the magnitude of tool fracture and is independent of tool run-outs is developed. Small and large tool fracture and chipping under various cutting condition could be detected using proposed tool fracture index, which was proved with cutting force model and experiments.

  • Effect of low temperature retrogression on RRA treatment were investigated in the thermomechanically treated 7075 Al alloy. The complete dissolution of GP zones did not occur during retrogression at $170^{\circ}C$ in T6 material. llrop in strength during initial stage of retrogression was due to the partial dissolution of GP zones. And the strength increased with the formation of $\mu '$ and decreased again with the growth of $\mu '$ and/or formation of $\mu '$ When RRA treatment was applied at the minimum or the secondary peak (maximum) in the hardness curve of retrogression treatment, SCC property was improved markedly without reduction of the strength in comparision with that of T6 materials. And the rhanges in the matrix were not sensitive with time during retrogression at low temperature of $170^{\circ}C$ that the strength and SCC properties were similar at both points in the hardness curve of retrogression treatment.

  • The electron density and temperature in the topside ionosphere are observed by the ionosphere Measurement Sensor (IMS) onboard the KOMPSAT-1, which has the sun-synchronous orbit of the altitude of 685 km and the orbital inclination of $98^{\circ}$ with a descending node at 22:50LT. Observations have been analyzed to determine the seasonal variations of the electron density and temperature in the low-latitude region. Only the night-time (22:50LT) behavior on magnetically quiet days (Kp < 4) has been examined. Observations show a strong longitudinal and seasonal variation. Generally, in the dip equator the density increases and the temperature decreases. In equinox the latitudinal distributions of the electron density and temperature are quite symmetric about the dip equator. However, the local maximum of the density and the local minimum of the temperature shift toward the Northern hemisphere in summer solstice but the Southern hemisphere in winter solstice. Such variations are due to the influences of field-aligned plasma transport induced by F region neutral wind. Compared with the IRI95 model, the observed electron density and temperature show significant differences from those predicted by the IRI95 model.

No-reference objective quality assessment of image using blur and blocking metric (블러링과 블록킹 수치를 이용한 영상의 무기준법 객관적 화질 평가)

  • In this paper, we propose a no-reference objective Quality assessment metrics of image. The blockiness and blurring of edge areas which are sensitive to the human visual system are modeled as step functions. Blocking and blur metrics are obtained by estimating local visibility of blockiness and edge width, For the blocking metric, horizontal and vertical blocking lines are first determined by accumulating weighted differences of adjacent pixels and then the local visibility of blockiness at the intersection of blocking lines is obtained from the total difference of amplitudes of the 2-D step function which is modelled as a blocking region. The blurred input image is first re-blurred by a Gaussian blur kernel and an edge mask image is generated. In edge blocks, the local edge width is calculated from four directional projections (horizontal, vertical and two diagonal directions) using local extrema positions. In addition, the kurtosis and SSIM are used to compute the blur metric. The final no-reference objective metric is computed after those values are combined using an appropriate function. Experimental results show that the proposed objective metrics are highly correlated to the subjective data.

Absorption Spectra and Functional Group Contents of Peat and Humus Fractions in Korea (한국산(韓國産) 이탄(泥炭)과 토양부식물(土壤腐植物) 획분(劃分)의 흡수(吸收)스펙트럼 및 관능기(官能基)의 함량(含量))

  • To characterize humus fractions in soil, visible, ultraviolet and infrared absorption spectra of humic acids in alkaline solutions and hymatomelanic acids in ethanol solutions extracted by Stevenson's method from paddy rice soils, peats, and volcanic ash soils were analyzed. The spectra patterns of both fractions in visible and ultraviolet ranges did not have any peak and the absorbance decreased as the wavelength increased. Visible and ultraviolet spectra of the solutions from all the peats, volcanic ash soils and paddy rice soil were very similar each other but absorbances were slowly declined in the order of volcanic ash soils, peats and mineral paddy soils. The infrared spectra of the two solutions appeared in a typical pattern, showing a few broad peaks. The main absorption bands were in the regions of $3400cm^{-1}$ (hydrogen bonded OH), near $2900cm^{-1}$ (aliphatic CH), $1720cm^{-1}$ (C=O of COOH, C=O of carbonyl), $1625cm^{-1}$ (aromatic C-C conjugated with C=O and/or COO-), $1400-1450cm^{-1}$ (CH stretch), $1200-1250cm^{-1}$ (CaO stretch of phenolic OH or OH-deformation of COOH) and $1050cm^{-1}$. The hymatomelanic acid fractions, however, had spectra that were characterized especially by very distinct absorption at $2900cm^{-1}$ and $1720cm^{-1}$, for aliphatic CH and carbonyl stretching vibration respectively in addition to the weaker bands for COO- or aromatic CH vibration at $1625cm^{-1}$, as compared to humic acid. No differences were noted in the general patterns of the spectograms of both fractions extracted. Analyses of the functional groups revealed little differences between peats and paddy soils, although total acidity and the content of carboxyl groups were decreased in the order of volcanic ash soils, peats and mineral paddy soils.
