Properties of CLC using Silica to Suppress Cracking due to Drying Shrinkage (건조수축에 따른 균열 억제를 위한 규사 혼입 CLC의 특성)

  • In order to improve the housing culture, construction changes for the utilization of diverse and multifunctional spaces are appearing in response to the increasing diverse needs of consumers. Cellular Light-weight Concrete (CLC) is being developed for use in fire-resistant heat-insulating walls and non-bearing walls. However, manufacturing non-uniformity has become a problem as a drawback due to the use of foamed bubbles and normal temperature curing, and additional research is required. Therefore, in order to suppress cracks due to drying shrinkage, silica sand is mixed with CLC to try to understand its characteristics. In the experiment, the compressive strength from 7 to 28 days of age was measured via a constant temperature and humidity chamber, and the drying shrinkage was analyzed according to each condition using a strain gauge. The compressive strength of matrix tends to decrease as the substitution rate of silica sand increases. This is judged by the result derived from the fact that the specific surface area of silica sand is smaller than that of slag. Based on KS F 2701 (ALC block), the compressive strength of 0.6 products is 4.9 MPa or more as a guide, so the maximum replacement rate of silica sand that satisfies this can be seen at 60%. Looking at the change in drying shrinkage for just 7 days, the shrinkage due to temperature change and drying is 0.7 mm, and the possibility of cracking due to shrinkage can be seen, and it seems that continuous improvement and supplementation are needed in the future.

Numerical Analysis off-Shape Cracking in Jointed Concrete Pavements (줄눈콘크리트 포장의 T형 균열 발생 원인 수치 해석)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the causes that induce the T-shape cracks at the joints in the jointed concrete pavements(JCPs). The finite element models of JCP including dowel bars were developed and the stress distribution in the slab was investigated under environmental loads. To investigate the effect of dowel bars on the transverse stresses at the joints that induce the T-shape cracks, the slab curling behavior was analyzed with and without dowel bars. In addition, the stress concentration was investigated when the dowel bar was not installed at the mid-depth of the slab. The results of this study showed that the transverse stresses were not affected by the dowel bars if the dowel bars were installed at the mid-depth of the slab. However, if the dowel bars were not installed at the mid-depth, the transverse stresses were concentrated at the dowel bar locations when the slab curled. The stress concentration was dependent on the contact characteristics between the dowel bar and concrete, and was significantly large when the dowel bar not installed at the mid-depth was located far from the edge of the slab. Therefore, to mitigate T-shape cracking in JCP, dowel bars should be very carefully installed and leveled at the proper locations.

  • An experimental test section was placed in Pangyo-Guri Expressway to monitor the performance of CRCP(Continuously Reinforced Concrete Pavement). So far early-age behaviors of the test section have been monitored for about two years. The purposes of this paper are to analyze the early-age behavior and temperature pattern of the test section and to compare the results with those of similar test sections placed in Houston. As results of this study, following findings were obtained. The results of Pangyo-Guri test section were generally better than those of Houston test sections in terms of the early-age crack patterns. Type II cement was more effective than type I cement in controlling the early-age cracking. Afternoon placement was more effective than morning construction in controlling the early-age cracking in summer season.

Impact Fracture Behavior under Temperature Variation and Compressive·Flexural Strength of Cement Composites using VAE Powder Polymer and PVA Fiber (PVA 섬유와 VAE 분말 폴리머를 사용한 시멘트복합체의 압축·휨강도 및 온도변화에 따른 충격파괴거동)

  • This paper studies impact fracture behavior under temperature variation and compressive flexural strength of cement composites using VAE(vinyl acetate ethylene) powder polymer and PVA(polyvinyl alcohol) fiber. Impact test were conducted in the temperature range selected for the $-35^{\circ}C$, $0^{\circ}C$ and $35^{\circ}C$. In this experimental study, impact test were carried out using a drop impact testing machine (Ceast 9350) to obtain such as displacement, time, and impact fracture energy of normal specimen and and cement composites specimen. As test results, the use of VAE powder polymer and PVA fiber were observed to enhance the flexural strength of mortar. The compressive strength of PVA fibers reinforced cement composites was slightly decreased at 28 days, but the flexural strength was observed to increase 24.4% of normal mortar strength. As a result of the drop impact tests, PVA fiber reinforced cement composites specimens showed microcracks due to energy dispersion and crack prevention with bridge effect of the fibers, and scabbing or perforation by impact was suppressed. On the other hand, the normal mortar and VAE powder polymer cement composites specimens were carried out to the perforation and macro crack. Most of normal mortar and the cement composites subjected to impact load on specimens shows mostly local brittle failure. The impact resistant performance of the specimen with PVA fiber was greatly improved due to the increase of flexure performance.

An Experimental Study on Flexural Behavior of One-Way Concrete Slabs Using Structural Welded Wire-Fabric (구조화 용접철강을 사용한 일방향 슬래브의 휨 거동에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • Recently the construction of residential buildings faces many difficulties due to the shortage of building materials and works. Simplifying the stage of processing and assembling reinforcing rods and increasing the efficiency of them in reinforced concrete construction can be used to settle the difficulties. In the respect, structural wire-fabric and loop wire-fabric is utilized. The purpose of this study, on condition of being $210kg/cm^2$ concrete strength, is to analyze the structural and flexural properties of one-way concrete slabs by testing with different reinforcing type, tensile steel ratio based with minimum steel ratio, boundary condition and splice length which affect the maximum width of crack and ductility factor. From the test results, the ductility factor is approved that the slabs using deformed bar were much better than that using wire-fabric, and 30D of splice length was appropriate in the slabs as splice length. In the control of the maximum crack width the slabs using wire-fabric and loop wire-fabric were much better than that using deformed bar.

Flexural Behavior of Prestressed Dual Concrete Beams (프리스트레스트 이중 콘크리트 보의 휨 거동 해석)

  • Cracks due to low tensile strength in prestressed concrete (PC) beams may decrease rigidity and structural performance, resulting in excessive deflection. In an effort to solve this problem, in this research, prestressed dual concrete (PDC) has been proposed, consisting of normal strength concrete in compression zone, and high performance steel fiber reinforced concrete(HPSFRC) with a partial depth in tensile zone. Three PDC beams with different depths of HPSFRC and two PC beams were cast for experiments. Analytical models at each stage, i.e., precracking, postcracking, and ultimate, were proposed for analysis of flexural behavior in PDC beams. The experimental results agree well to the analytical ones. Crack formation and its propagation are controlled by the HPSFRC in PDC beams. The initial cracking and service limit loads are increased along with the load carrying capacity and flexural stiffness.

금속 핵연료와 HT9 피복관의 상호반응을 방지하기 위한 피복관 내면 도금 연구

  • 소듐냉각 고속로 (SFR)는 원자력 발전의 가장 시급한 문제점으로 부각되고 있는 사용 후 핵연료를 재활용 하여 가동하는 원자로 이다. Generation IV로 명명되는 차세대 원자로 중에 하나로 국제 공동연구와 자체 연구를 통해 우리나라 고유의 기술이 축적되고 개발되고 있다. 현재 소듐냉각 고속로의 가장 큰 문제점 중의 하나는 금속핵연료와 피복관의 상호반응이다. 상호반응이 일어나면 공융현상을 일으켜 피복관의 녹는점이 낮아지고 피복관의 두께가 얇아져 원자로의 안전에 치명적인 위협이 된다. 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위해 전해도금 (electro-plating)을 활용하여 HT9 피복관 내면에 크롬을 도금하여 금속핵연료와 피복관의 상호반응을 억제하는 연구가 본 연구팀에서 진행되고 있다. 크롬과 전해도금을 코팅 물질과 코팅 방법으로 선정한 이유는 튜브 내면에 적용하기 용이하고 경제적인 코팅 방법이기 때문이다. 본 연구에서는 여러 가지 전해도금 인자 중 온도와 pulse 전류의 파형이 상호반응 방지 효과에 미치는 영향에 대하여 고찰하였다. 도금액의 온도를 $50{\sim}80^{\circ}C$, 전류 파형 중 on/off time을 1:1, 10:1, 1:10으로 하여 여러 HT9 시편을 도금하였고 모의 금속 핵연료 합금인 Ce-Nd와 확산 반응 실험을 수행하여 상호반응 방지 효과를 분석하였다. 광학현미경과 전자현미경을 이용한 미세구조 분석 결과 도금액의 온도가 $65^{\circ}C$ 이하인 시편에서는 미세균열이 심하게 발생하였고 그 균열을 통해서 물질이 확산하고 상호반응을 한다는 것이 관찰되었다. $65^{\circ}C$보다 높은 도금액의 온도에서 형성된 크롬막은 균열이 없고 상호반응 방지 효과가 좋은 것이 확인되었다. 특히 전류 파형의 on/off time이 1:1일 때 상호반응 방지 효과가 가장 좋은 것을 확인하였다. 이러한 결과는 크롬 전해도금의 코팅 조건이 상호반응 방지 효과에 매우 중요한 요인으로 작용한다는 것을 말해주고 있다.

Solid State Joining of Iron and Steels (철강재료의 고상접합기술)

  • 저탄소강은 일반적으로 용접성이 우수하지만 완전한 접합 강도와 용접부에서의 결함을 방지하기 위해서는 많은 주위가 필요하다. 용접부의 기계적 성질은 그 미세구조에 따라 좌우되는데, 이 구조는 모재의 화학조성, 용접 조건 그리고 후열처리에 의하여 결정이 된다. 이와 같이 용융용 접에 의한 저탄소강의 접합부는 저탄소함량으로 응고 균열에 대한 저항이 높다. 그러나 탄소의 함량이 증가하므로서 용접성은 저하하여, 0.3% 이상에서 용접부는 과열, 과냉, 저온 균열과 porosity에 취약하게 된다. 구조용강애 있어서는 용접성에 대한 일반적인 기준이 없으므로 이 러한 재료는 모재와 용접부의 기계적 성질, 고온 및 저온 균열성, 열간 및 냉각가공성등을 고려 하게 된다. 그러나 가장 중요한 것은 용접부의 신뢰도이다. 탄소강과 저합금강에 있어서 용접은 높은 강도를 얻을 수 있어야 하며 접합부에서 모재의 원래의 특성을 유지하여야 하고 결함이 없어야 할 것이다. 이와 같은 결함은 모재의 융접 이하에서 접합을 실시하는 고상접합으로 충 분히 억제할 수가 있다. 고상접합에서는 근본적인 미세조직의 결정화도 피할 수 있으며 고온균 일과 같은 결함의 위험도 배제할 수 있다. 고상접합은 용융용접과는 달리 모재를 용융시키지 않고 고체상태에서 접합을 하는데, 신금속 및 신소재의 개발과 첨단산업의 발달로 고상접합 기 술이 크게 각광을 받고 발전하게 되었다. 이와 같은 접합기술의 발전으로 기존의 용접으로는 접합이 불가한 소재, 용접기술의 적용이 곤란한 복잡한 형상, 복합기능 소재, 고품질 및 고정밀 성이 요구되는 소재등이 접합이 가능하게 되었다. 이러한 접합기술로는 brazing, 확산접합, 마찰 용접 등이 주로 많이 이용되고 있다. Brazing은 융점이 낮은 filler metal이 모재의 사이에서 용 융상태로 유입되어 냉각되면서 접합되는 방식이고 확산접합은 모재의 접합계면에서 원자의 상호 확산으로 접합을 하게 된다. 한편 마찰용접은 계면에서 회전에 의한 마찰열고 접합하는 방식 이다. 본 기술해설에서는 이러한 고상접합 기술을 이용한 철강재료의 접합에 대하여 고찰하도록 하겠다.

The study on Accelerated Life-Time Reliability Test Methods of Ni-Mn-B ternary alloy Plating(electrodeposit) (Ni-Mn-B 삼원합금도금 가속수명 및 신뢰성 평가에 대한 연구)

  • Steel companies are applying Ni-B or Ni-Co alloy plating to protect the surface of Continuous casting mold, and they are using saccharin polish which causes crack on plating layer due to sulfur in saccharin. It is considered that the Ni-S compound causes the cracking and additional tensile stresses. The Ni-Mn-B ternary alloy plating was developed for suppression of crack by forming Mn-S compound before Ni-S compound is formed, but there were no domestic or international standard on the Ni-Mn-B alloy plating. Therefore, reliability evaluation standard was established to evaluate the newly developed Ni-Mn-B plating. To develop accelerating life testing method, FMEA(Failure Mode & Effective analysis) was used to analyze the cause of the main failure in plating. The Ni-Mn-B reliability standard included accelerating life test method, and it was categorized by the fundamental performance test, environment test, and accelerated life test, and was designed to guarantee 1 000 hours of B10 life with 80 % reliable level.

An Application of Smart Composite for Health Monitoring (Health Monitoring을 위한 스마트 복합재료의 적용)

  • One of main advantages of composite using smart material as reinforcement can be controlled cracks behavior inside the composite. If the smart composite is applied as part of the structure, the use of the shape memory effect of the smart material is the best way to protect the propagation of cracks generated in the structure while use. In this study, the optical manufacturing conditions for the smart composite were derived. In order to evaluate the shape memory effect by shape memory alloy, the tensile load was applied to the smart composite and stress distribution was inspected. And then, the smart composite was heated to a certain temperature and the shape memory alloy would shrink to the original shape. Finally, at this point the recovering status of stress using photoelastic instrument was discussed.
