The fatigue crack growth model is derived and the retardation model is proposed. The fatigue crack growth model considers the residual plastic stretch on the crack surface which results from the plastic deformation at the tip of fatigue crack. The fatigue crack growth rate is calculated by using the cumulative fatigue damage and plastic strain energy in the material elements at the crack tip. This model gives the crack growth rate in reasonable agreement with test data for aluminum alloy AL6061-T651 and 17-4PH casting steel. The fatigue crack growth retardation model is based on the residual plastic stretch produced from a tensile overload which reduced the plastic strain range of the following load cycles. A strip-yield model of a crack tip plasticity is used for the calculation of a plastic zone size. The proposed retardation model characterized the observed features and delayed retardation of the fatigue crack growth under tensile overload.

In this paper, the flexural creep behavior of hooked-end steel fiber reinforced high-strength concrete was evaluated to investigate the steel fiber content influence on long-term behavior of flexural members. An experimental program consisted of nine prismatic beam specimens with dimensions of 150 × 150 × 600mm reinforced with different contents of steel fiber (0, 0.75 and 1.5% at the volume fraction). To introduce flexural creep loading to notched prismatic beam specimens, a four-point bending test setup was used. The sustained load with 40% of the flexural strength was applied by means of a lever system and controlled by a load cell for 90 days. During sustained loading, crack mouth opening displacement (CMOD) was monitored. Conventional flexural test after creep tests were carried out to evaluate the residual capacity of each specimen. Test results showed that steel fiber content has a significant effect on the flexural creep behavior of high-strength concrete and long-term flexural load with 40% of flexural strength doesn't generate negative effects on the residual capacity of steel fiber reinforced high-strength concrete.

The plane stress fracture toughness for thin aluminum alloy(2024-T3 and 7075-T6) specimens are characterized by using compact-tension (CT) specimens. Anti-buckling plates were fabricated on both sides of the thin CT specimens to prevent the buckling phenomena which caused by the 45.deg. C plastic yielding at the crack tip under the plane stress condition. The plane stress fracture toughnesses determined by three different procedures are compared with each others. The plane stress fracture toughnesses are also compared with a few published values which were determined by using center-cracked panel specimens.

The effect of temperature on the fracture energy, crack propagation, and crack tip opening displacement (CTOD) was determined for particulate reinforced composites using the wedge splitting test. The materials that were used consisted of a polymer binder, an oxidizing agent, and aluminum particles. The test rate of the wedge splitting specimen was 50 mm/min, the temperature conditions were $50^{\circ}C$, room temperature, $-40^{\circ}C$, and $-60^{\circ}C$. The fracture energy, calculated from splitting load-crack mouth opening displacement(CMOD) curves, increased with decreasing temperature from $50^{\circ}C$ to $-40^{\circ}C$. In addition, the strength of the particulate reinforced composites increased sharply at $-60^{\circ}C$, and the composites evidenced brittle fracture due to the glass transition temperature. The strain fields near the crack tip were analyzed using digital image correlation.

Dynamic crack propagation in ductile steel is investigated by means of impact loaded 3 point bending specimens. The specimen has the size of $320{\times}75\;mm$ with a thickness of 10 mm. One static and two dynamic experiments with impact velocities of 30.2 m/s and 45.2 m/s are carried out. High speed photography is used to obtain crack growth and crack tip opening displacement data. Direct measurement of the relative rotation of the two specimen halves is made by using Moire interference pattern. The experiments indicate no or only a slight influence of the loading rate on the crack propagation.
In this study, fracture tests were carried out in order to investigate the fracture behavior of SFRC(Steel Fiber Peinforced Concrete) with initial cracks. The relationships between loading. strain, mld-span deflections and CMOD(Crack Mouth Opening Displacement) of the beams were observed under the three point loading system. The effect of the fiber content and the initial crack ratio on the concrete fracture behavior were studied and the fracture toughness, the critical energy release ratio and the fracture energy were also calcul ated from the test results. From the test results, it was known that when the fiber contents are between 0.5% and 1.0%, and 1.5% the average fracture energy of SFRC specimens is about 7~10 times. and about 15 times better than that of the plam concrete specimens respectively.ively.
In this study, the possibility of evaluating the peculiar fracture strength of weldment in high strength steels was investigated by means of a small punch(SP) test. In order to obtain the ductile-brittle transition temperature(DBTT) of SP energy by which the fracture strength of weldment in structural steels such as SS41 and SM53B steels had been evaluated in our preceding publication, the effects of notches and loading rates on SP energy were discussed. It was found that the correspondence of SP energy to critical COD at test temperature -196.deg. C showed a linear relation with some deviation. The empirical correlation with scatter band, Esp/(Esp)p = 1.67[.delta./(.delta./sub c//(.delta./sub c/)/sub p/]-0.55, was developed between the SP energy ratio and critical COD ratio of each weld structure compared with parent material at test temperature -196.deg. C. In addition, there did not appear to be a significant effect of test materials and specimen size etc. on the correlation.
In this paper, the fracture toughness evaluation of the various microstructures such as HAZ, F.L and W.M in weldment of TMCP steel which has the softening zone owing to high heat input welding was carried out by using of the small punch(SP) test. In addition, the fracture toughness with the specimen orientation of rolled TMCP steel was investigated by means of SP test and the crack opening displacement (COD) test and then was compared with that of conventional SM50YB steel. From the results of SP test for TMCP steel, it could be seen that the SP energy transition curves of three different orientation were shifted to higher temperature side in order of S, T and L. But the {TEX}$DBTT_{SP}${/TEX} of each orientation specimen did not show a lot of differences and were quite lower than those of conventional SM50YB steel. The mechanical properties of HAZ structure in weldment of TMCP steel such as hardness, SP energy at room temperature and -196$^{\circ}C$ and the upper shelf energy of SP energy transition curve were lower than those of base metal due to softening. The {TEX}$DBTT_{SP}${/TEX} of each microstructure in weldment of TMCP steel increased in order of HAZ, F.L and W.M against base metal, but all microstructures showed a quite lower {TEX}$DBTT_{SP}${/TEX} than those of SM50YB steel.
Immense quantities of coal combustion by-products are produced every year, and only a small fraction of them are currently utilized. The purpose of this study is to investigate reused techniques of coal ash in the construction field, which may contribute to the savings of building materials and conservation of environment. From the results of the compressive strength test, the elastic modulus was experimentally proposed. Also, based on the three- point-bending test, the fracture parameters - notch sensitivity, fracture energy, and initial compliance were experimentally proposed. As a result, the strength and fracture characteristics were lower than those of concrete or mortar. Also, the study showed that the deflection at a fracture decreased as the age increased and as the notch depth rate decreased. However, it was judged that its use as a building material could be expected if further research is carried out.

In this study, The purpose of this study is to experimentally investigate the shear behavior of reinforced flat plate embedded with GFRP(glass fiber reinforced polymer) plate with openings. The GFRP shear reinforcement is manufactured into a plate shape with several openings to ensure perfect integration with concrete. The test was performed on 7 specimens. the parameters include the type of reinforcement and amount of the shear reinforcement., From the test, we analysed the crack, failure mode, Strain, load-displacement graph. a calculation of the shear strength of reinforced flat plate with GFRP plate based on the ACI 318-11 was compared with the test results. The results of the experiment indicate that GFRP plate is successfully applied as a shear reinforcement in the flat plate under punching shear.
