High Level Architecture(HLA) for modeling and simulation is an international technical standard to achieve simulation interoperability and reusability. Building federation through the interworking of federates is being used in various fields and is being used in KR(Key Resolve), UFG(Ulchi-Freedom Guardian) as a representative in domestic military. Currently, United States Department of Defense emphasizes the HLA compliance test, which confirms the compliance of Federate by using HLA. However, due to the limitations of testing tools, an HLA compliance test of DoD is not able to perform some of the functional tests on HLA/RTI services such as federation storage/recovery services and also exclude inspection of exchange data between federates. To solve these problems, this paper proposes an HLA compliance testing system of ROK suitable for domestic situations. This will enable effective HLA compliance testing and improve interoperability between federates.

Since the modern weapon system is composed of a complex system, it is quite difficult to derive the priority of performance improvement factors. In addition, research on the method for prioritizing quantitative performance improvement factors considering the opinions of stakeholders is insufficient. In this study, in order to quantitatively derive the priorities of performance improvement factors for K1 tanks and K2 tanks, a survey was conducted with experts with experience in tank development, and the preface data was analyzed using AHP, scoring method, and TOPSIS methods. As a result, priorities were quantitatively derived. The results of this study are expected to be used as decision-making indicators for stakeholders in the future weapon system development and performance improvement stage.
In a hypersonic vehicle to solve the heat problem generated during flight, a cooling technology is being developed which uses the endothermic effect that appears during the decomposition reaction of the mounted fuel. In this study, the decomposition reaction of n-dodecane fuel was performed using HZSM-5 as a catalyst, and the catalyst was coated on metal foam to maximize the endothermic effect of the catalytic decomposition reaction and suppress coke formation. The reactor was a stainless steel flow reactor with a outer diameter of 1.27 cm, and the reaction temperature was 550 ℃, the reaction pressure was 4 MPa, and the flow rate was 12 ml per minute. As a result of the catalytic decomposition reaction using a catalyst coated with HZSM-5 on the metal foam, the heat sink was 2887 kJ/kg as a maximum, the gas phase conversion rate was 34%, and the amount of coke produced on the metal foam decreased by about 56% as the catalyst was coated compared to the uncoated catalyst.
In this article, the design of a variable F-number and triple magnification infrared optical system is described. That is a two-in-one optical system that combines an infrared search and track (IRST) system and an electro-optical tracking system (EOTS), where an afocal optical system is added to the IRST optical system designed already. The performance target is determined by analyzing system performance, and then the specification in the optical system design is calculated. This optical system contains a warm stop making it possible that one optics has two different F/# by cutting the size of aperture, and that is designed to suit this optics. The system satisfies the requirement such as a modulation transfer function (MTF). For operational assessment, the movement of the focusing lens group is analyzed over the change of temperature and target distance. By using this optical system, it is possible to develop equipment having two functions, infrared searching and electro-optical tracking.

This paper deals with the design of the L-band rotary joint, which is a core part of the tracking radar system. The rotary joint is a part that is mounted on the rotating parts of the tracking system antenna, which smoothly transmits RF signals with minimizing signal insertion loss. To improve the insertion loss of rotary joint, 1) dielectric materials, 2) design of distribution ring and 3)dielectric shape are studied. The performance of proposed rotary joint is compared with the conventional product. The prototype rotary joint showed a max insertion loss of 0.68dB, that is improved about 46% compare with conventional product which insertion loss was 1.26dB.

This study describes the design and implementation of a simulated signal generator to demonstrate the performance of VHF band radar for the detection of small targets in RCS(Radar Cross Section). The transmission and reception antenna beam widths used in the simulated signal generating apparatus may be large, which may cause problems in the degree of isolation. Interference signal immunity and isolation characteristics are improved by considering operating conditions of VHF radar to solve isolation of antennas. Simulated signal generator performs the following: VHF radar transmission and reception correction, simulation signal generation, target Doppler, RCS and distance simulation, remote control, and GPS clock synchronization function. After the fabrication of the simulated signal generator, the main characteristics, such as the output characteristics and the reflection signal simulations, were tested. When the microwave radar assembly is completed in the future, it will be utilized for the performance evaluation of VHF radar.

The private sector is currently reviewing the feasibility of the project or deciding economic policies by analyzing the economic ripple effects. However, the arms acquisition project focuses on the need for the national defense weapons system by analyzing the costs and the effectiveness of the analysis and reviewing the necessity and feasibility of the project. In order to analyze the economic ripple effects, KB (the Bank of Korea) prepares and publishes an analysis table of industrial associations in a given unit. IAAR (the industrial association analysis report) is difficult to apply directly to the defense weapons system. Therefore, research on the economic ripple effects applicable to the defense arms procurement project was needed. In this study, we propose the generic methodology for estimating economical and technical ripple effects resulted in acquiring new weapon systems. Based on the analysis of inter-industrial relations, economical ripple effects are estimated with production inducing effects, value-induced effects, employment-induced effects and export-induced effects. Also, the technological ripple effects are estimated with technological intensity represented by investment cost in research and development. To show the validity of proposed methodology, a case study of acquiring new weapon systems such as GR (guided rocket), destroyer, and helicopter is accomplished. From the case study, it is concluded that these economical & technological ripple effects can be used as a reference to decision making in the course of acquiring major future defense weapons systems.

In this study, lanthanum oxide ($La_2O_3$) dispersed molybdenum ($Mo-La_2O_3$) alloys are fabricated using lanthanum nitrate solution and nanosized Mo particles produced by hydrogen reduction of molybdenum oxide. The effect of $La_2O_3$ dispersion in a Mo matrix on the fracture toughness at room temperature is demonstrated through the formation behavior of $La_2O_3$ from the precursor and three-point bending test using a single-edge notched bend specimen. The relative density of the $Mo-0.3La_2O_3$ specimen sintered by pressureless sintering is approximately 99%, and $La_2O_3$ with a size of hundreds of nanometers is uniformly distributed in the Mo matrix. It is also confirmed that the fracture toughness is $19.46MPa{\cdot}m^{1/2}$, an improvement of approximately 40% over the fracture toughness of $13.50MPa{\cdot}m^{1/2}$ on a pure-Mo specimen without $La_2O_3$, and this difference in the fracture toughness occurs because of the changes in fracture mode of the Mo matrix caused by the dispersion of $La_2O_3$.

Intra-Body Communication (IBC) is a communication method using the human body as a communication medium. The fact that our human body consists of water and electrolyte allow such communication method could work and have strength in low-power. However, because the IBC directly affects to human body by using it as a medium, there was a lack of research in communication protocols of each communication layer. In this paper, we suggests MAC parameters which affects the performance of communication in human body channel, and propose new MAC protocol. Our results shows that our MAC is suitable for supporting high data rate applications with comparable radio duty cycle performance.

Due to the changes in future war environment and the technological development of the aviation weapon system, it is required to carry out on the analysis of the Manned-Unmanned aerial vehicles Teaming(MUM-T). Conventional manned-unmanned aerial vehicles operate according to the air strategy missions and vehicles' performance. In this paper, we analyze conventional aerial vehicle's mission to derive various kinds of missions of MUM-T after analyzing the unmanned aircraft systems roadmap issued by US DoD and the air strategy of US Air Force. Next, we identify the basic operations of the vehicles to carry out the missions, select the MUM-T based Suppression of Enemy Air Defense missions(SEAD), and analyze the procedure for performing the missions step by step. In this paper, we propose a procedure of the mission in the context of physical space and timeline for the realization of the concept of MUM-T.
