The purpose of this study is to analyze and identify the characteristics in the current library classification research, and to provide suggestions for the future in this area. This study covers the published studies in library classification from 2004 to 2013. They include the research on Korean Decimal Classification (KDC), Dewey Decimal Classification and others. The results show that the main purpose in those studies is to improve current KDC system. A suggestion is provided in this study to concentrate on specific classification systems for school libraries and small libraries, for digital collections.

This study purposed to establish the history of library automation through multilateral analysis and systematic description of the development process of university library automation in Korea and to analyze problems in the development process. In the research, we conducted literature review, investigation of university homepages and telephone interviews. Based on previous researches and the current state of university library automation, the development process of university libraries was divided into 'the stage of introduction,' 'the stage of growth,' 'the stage of stability' and 'the stage of take off.' First, the current state of university library automation was analyzed through literature review, and 109 libraries at private universities in Korea were sampled for data analysis.

The purpose of this study is to improve guidelines for public library services to deaf community in Korea. For this study, literature review, case study and survey were performed. Based upon the results, the mandatory and optional elements were suggested within the framework of "Standards and Guidelines for Library Services for the Disabled" developed by National Library Support Center for the Disabled in Korea in 2009. Based upon these elements, public libraries should modify and supplement the guidelines reflecting the local circumstances. Eventually, this guideline will help librarians to provide professional and effective library services to deaf people.

Since the 1990s, the growth of the public library program field progressed rapidly at home and aborad as the proportion of programs increased as a major job for public libraries in response to social changes and user demands. However, it is difficult to find a study to grasp the overall research trend in the field of public library programs in Korea. Accordingly, intellectual structure analysis was performed based on keyword profiling to examine research trends in the domestic public library program field. In particular, keyword analysis, network analysis and cluster analysis, and period/year analysis were performed step by step based on the author keywords (uncontrolled keywords) of degree papers and academic journals retrieved from the RISS database. In addition, based on the results of this intellectual structure analysis, the research trends of public library programs were comprehensively reviewed and future research tasks were presented.

The standard of library is to provide the mission and goals, user services, and operations management of the library. Also, it is can be used as a tool that evaluate a various services and programs of the library. However, library standard of domestic does not reflect a realistic situation of special libraries, therefore it should be revised immediately. In this study, I analyzed the international trend of special library standards in major countries, and compared the legal and recommended standards, and evaluation indicators in Korea. As a result, revised directions of new standard have been proposed. Proposed directions will contribute in revising the special library standard of Korea.

Recently, the appearance of the library has changed dramatically more than ever, and it is true that the spatial factor of the library is a big part of this change. The purpose of this study is to establish the criteria for improvement of the illuminance standard of library by comparing analysis of related workd related to illumination, survey, and illuminance related standards of each country. In order to achieve the purpose of research, we measured the illuminance and the users' perceptions of the 14 public libraries in the D region. Finally, the comparison of domestic and international illuminance standards should be improved in the future. As a result of the analysis, it is found that the domestic illumination standard (KSA 3011) needs to be supplemented in accordance with the environment and the case of each country. Also, it is necessary to recognize the importance of differentiation and illuminance according to the age group of users. This study is expected to be a basic research that will raise the interest of the overall illumination improvement and illumination management of the library in the future. In addition, it is expected that it will be a great power for the improvement of the environment including the illumination of the public library in Korea if the interest is maintained based on the revision of the domestic illumination standard in accordance with the revised tendency of overseas recommendation and the continuous research on the future illumination of the library.
