It is well-known that a meta-stable fcc bulk Fe has an antiferromagnetic (AFM) ground state and could be synthesized by growing Fe on a proper fcc metal substrate. In this study magnetism of Fe monolayers on nonmagnetic fcc transition metal (Cu, Rh, Pd, and Ag) (001) surfaces has been investigated using the all-electron full-potential linearized augmented plane wave method. The Fe monolayers on Rh(001) and Pd(001) surfaces were calculated to be stabilized in an AFM state, whereas the Fe monlayers on Cu(001) and Ag(001) surfaces are stabilized in a ferromagnetic (FM) state. Noting that Cu and Ag have the smallest and largest lattice constants and the fcc bulk Fe with a larger lattice constant is getting stabilized in a ferromagnetic state, it is unexpectable and interesting. The calculated magnetic moments of the Fe atoms on Cu, Rh, Pd, and Ag(001) surfaces are 2.811, 2.945, 2.987, and 2.990 $_{{\mu}B}$ in FM states and 2.624, 2.879, 2.922, and 3.001 $_{{\mu}B}$ in AFM states.
In this study, the research on MC anchor has been developed as composite type has done. MC anchor exerts bearing pressure on pre-bored hole where the end fixing device is expanded. Therefore, the uplift capacity is to be increased and it has the characteristics that the anchor body is not eliminated from the ground even if the grouting is not carried out properly. Furthermore, it reduces the loss of tension and raises the construction availability by inserting the reinforced bar as well as the anchor cable, while it can improve the long-term stability because the nail is expected to play the role when the loss of the anchor cable is occurred in a long-term. However, because the resistance mechanism of the compound anchor such as MC anchor is different from friction anchor, the estimation method of the uplift capacity by the frictional force of the ground and the grout is not proper. Particularly, in domestic cases, the problem to overestimate or underestimate the uplift capacity is expected because the design method considering the soil characteristics about the compound anchor has not been developed. Therefore, in this study, in order to evaluate the characteristics of MC anchor and a kind of compound anchor, we measured the uplift, the tension and the creep by nine anchors tests in shale ground that the fluctuation of the strength is great. In addition, we analyzed the test result comparing to the result of the general friction anchor and evaluated the characteristics of MC anchor movement to gather the results. As a result of the test, we found the effect that the uplift capacity is increased in shale ground comparing to the general friction anchor.
This article aims to find method to mix a harmless hardening agent and soil generated during construction to make paving materials. The main purpose of this research is to get rid of the harmfulness(Chromium (VI), etc.) of cement which has been generally and frequently used as a hardening agent and strengthen it so that it can be used for the general foundation solidification and stabilization of civil engineering/construction structures such as dredging soil treatment, marine structure foundation treatment, surface soil stabilization, and river bank erosion prevention. NSS(Natural Stabilizer Soil) used for this study takes as its chief ingredient the mixture of lime and staple fibers extracted from natural fibers. It increases the shearing strength of soil that it improves the support and durability of the foundation and prevents flooding and frost as well. The pH measured to know its eco-friendliness was 6.67~7.15, and according to the migration testing, only Pb and CN were lower than the standards, so it can be said that NSS has almost no harmful components in it. According to the result of uniaxial strength testing, when the mixture ratio of weathered soil to NSS was 6%, about 1,850kpa strength was expressed. And according to the result of CBR. testing to figure out its appropriateness as a paving material, the CBR of the foundation was 4%~6%. But when the mixture ratio of NSS is over 6%, the water immersion CBR. is over 100%; thus, it is expected that it will show great utility as a paving material.
Since ultra-high performance cementitious composites (UHPCC) not only represents high early age shrinkage strain due to its low water-to-binder ratio (W/B) and high fineness admixture usage but also reduces the cross section of structure from the higher mechanical properties, it generally has more shrinkage cracks from the restraints of formwork and reinforcing bars. In this study, free and restrained shrinkage experiments were conducted to evaluate the suitability of incorporating both expansive admixture (EA) and shrinkage reducing agent (SRA). The test results indi-cated that approximately 40~44% of free shrinkage strain was decreased. Also, the results showed that 35% and 47% of residual tensile stresses were relieved by synergetic effect of SRA and EA, respectively. Residual tensile stresses from ringtest were relaxed by approximately 61% and 64% of elastic shrinkage stresses due to SRA and EA, respectively, because of the tensile creep effect. Therefore, the creep effect should be considered to precisely estimate the restrained shrinkage behavior of concrete structures. The degree of restraint of UHPCC was approximately in the range of 0.78~0.85. The addition of combined EA and SRA showed minute influence on the degree of restraint. However, the effect decreased when thicker concrete ring was used. Tensile creep strains were measured and compared to the predicted values from 4-parametric prediction model considering time dependent restrained forces.
Construction materials using soil which is the most common material around us have many advantages, but their long-term durability and sensation of walking as pavements have problems. Therefore, they are used after compaction or mixed with various hardening agents such as lime and cement for strength enhancement. However, studies on the behavior of pavement materials mixed with environment-friendly hardening agents or admixtures to improve walking property are still insufficient. In this study, therefore, in order to evaluate the appropriate mixing ratio and field application characteristics of pavement materials using mixed soils with environment-friendly hardening agents and natural materials such as wood chips, mechanical tests were performed to evaluate the rational mixing ratios and the ball test was performed as an elasticity test to evaluate the field applicability. The results suggest that the content of wood chips should be selected at 1.5% or lower according to the purpose of the structure, and the hardening agent at 10~15%. The evaluation results for GB/SB coefficient ratio which indicates the walking property show that the appropriate mixing ratio of the hardening agent in terms of the sensation of walking is 15% of lower, but different mixing ratios should be chosen according to the proportion of wood chips.
In cases of the loosely accumulated ground and soft clayey soils, the settlement criterion usually governs in evaluating the stability of structures. The settlement is also a dominant factor to control the design of granular compaction piles mainly applied to the reinforcement of foundation structures in soft ground. In the previous studies, settlement behaviors of granular compaction piles have generally been analyzed with an evaluation of the settlement reduction factor based on the load-sharing ratio and the replacement ratio. In this approach, however, since the reinforced ground with granular compaction piles is simplified as the composite ground, only the difference of a relative vertical strength between piles and soils is taken into account without reflecting lateral behaviors of granular compaction piles. In the present study, the method of estimating the settlement of granular compaction piles is proposed by synthetically considering a vertical strength of the ground, lateral behaviors of granular compaction piles, the strength of pile materials, a pile diameter, and an installation distance of the pile. Further, far the verification of a validity of the proposed method, predicted settlements are compared with results from previous studies. In addition, parametric studies are performed together with detailed analyses of relevant design parameters.

As the demand for urban business hotel has increased in the recent years due to the sharp rise in overseas tourists, the potential of business hotel development has gained in financial attention for the real estate investment. However, its concept and business domain has not been defined, and none of investment guidance for the development has not been clarified. Accordingly, this report intends to define the concept of urban business hotel in perspective of real estate investment through prior case studies and literature review, and provide the structure of determinants which control its investment decisions. Furthermore, this study develops the weight of determinants depending on the type of investment, and evaluate the two actual projects in urban area of Seoul, differed from investment type: direct and indirect, based on AHP and Fuzzy methodologies. Research finding indicate that the financial factors affecting the sales and tour business condition factors are critical determinants regardless of investment type. And it is notable that the direct investment perspective pays more attention on the finance and investment associated determinants while the indirect one more focuses on the regional and environmental ones. From the analysis of case evaluation, it is also noteworthy that the direct investors turn out to be more conservative than indirect investors due to the risk of equity capital investment.

Main cable of a suspension bridge is the important member which shows the overall structure integrity at bridge completion. Configuration of main cable is a free hanging state at cable erection completion and is different from that at bridge completion supporting the dead loads such as hanger, girder, and so on. Accordingly, the configuration control under cable erection is considerably significant because the configuration at cable erection completion has direct influence on that at bridge completion. That is performed by sag adjustments at center, side span and tension adjustments at anchor span. The former needs the sag sensitivity which represents the control quantity of strand length corresponding to that of sag. The latter requires the tension sensitivity which shows the change of strand tension according to that of strand temperature. In this study, the fundamental equations of cable were derived with the assumption of either catenary or parabola shape, the differential-related equations using chain rule on horizontal tension were drawn from those and finally the estimation methods of the sag / tension sensitivity were proposed from both those. The nonlinear numerical analysis flow charts of sag sensitivity based on the catenary equations were proposed and the sag sensitivities grounded on the differential-related equations were compared with the results using them for various parameters of sag change. Also, considering the combinations of sag change parameters, the calculation method of the final variation for the cable sag was suggested. For the real suspension bridge under construction with PPWS method, the sag/tension sensitivity were estimated considering the construction conditions like the change of PPWS length, PPWS temperature, bridge span, etc.. We hope that this study will be a systematic guideline for the configuration control under main cable erection and improved highly by field verification in the real bridge site.

Bending and axial forces simultaneously occur at the cross-section of a shotcrete lining reinforced with steel supports due to the tunnel geometry. The shotcrete has changing flexural stiffness depending on the axial forces and, as a result, severely nonlinear behavior. The mechanical properties of a shotcrete-steel composite also depend on the type of steel support. This study presents a fiber section element model considering the effect of axial force to evaluate the nonlinear behavior of a shotcrete-steel composite. Additionally, the model was used to analyze the effects of different types of steel supports on the load capacity. Furthermore, a modified hyperbolic model for ground reaction, including strain-softening, is proposed to account for the ground-lining interaction. The model was validated by comparing the numerical results with results from previous load test performed on arched shotcrete specimens. The changes in mechanical responses of the lining were also investigated. Results show a lining with doubly reinforcement rebar has similar load capacity as a lining with H-shaped supports. The use of more materials for the steel support enhances the residual resistance. For all types of steel reinforcement, the contribution of steel supports during peak load decreases as the ground becomes stiffer.

Low-flow mortar injection method grouting technology was selected and the traffic area was preserved as much as possible in order to secure safety for road traffic when the outflow and subsidence of landfill occurred due to ground-water, and etc. In particular, the current existing method was newly improved since there are risks of damage such as hydraulic fracturing at the lower part of the road, spilling of soil particles on steep slopes, and bumps on the road due to excessive injection pressure during construction. This study was carried out at the site of reinforcement work on the road as a maintenance work for the danger zone for collapse of the steep slope of the 00 hill, which was ordered from the 00 city 00 province. The improved low-flow mortar type grouting method adopted a new automated grouting management system and especially, it composites the method for grouting conditions decision by high-pressure pre-grouting test and injection technology by AGS-controlled and studied about grouting effect analysis by using new technology. By applying the improved low-flow mortar type grouting method, it was possible to lay the groundwork for road maintenance work such as the prevention of subsidence of old roads, uneven subsidence of buildings and civil engineering structures, and of soil leakage of ground-water spills. Furthermore, the possibility of application on future grouting work not only for just construction that prevents subsidence of old roads but also for various buildings and civil engineering structures such as railroads, subways, bridges, underground structures, and boulder stone and limestone areas was confirmed.
